Why Melissa Garvey chose Front Range

I stayed as a guest at this cabin 10 years before I would eventually own it. I loved it from day one, and still find it to be the most zen-like place I have ever stayed. The quiet setting instills a feeling of peace and appreciation for the great beauty of the Colorado mountains.

This is my only rental property, and my second home. I take great pride in the comfort and satisfaction of my guests and hope you will love this place as much as I do.

Away from it all

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is very well decorated and comfortable. It has everything you need to cook. The town of goldhill is really cute and preserved like an old western town. We were able to visit everything we wanted to within a 2 hour radius. Thing's I wish I knew: the cabin is 30 min up a mountain which can be kind of scary at night , ecspecially if you're not used to it. We tried to plan around the dark our whole trip which was kind of difficult.

We also had a two wheel drive, if you're not used to mountain driving I suggest using four wheel drive, you'll just be a lot more at ease.

Even though it's nice to be in the middle of the mountains, there's not much to do at night (we're a young couple) I think it would have made our trip a lot better if there was a tv to at least watch movies at night. If you do want to go out at night we recommend the town of Nederland. It's close and has pubs and stuff.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, hope this review will help others looking to stay at this mountain cabin!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thoughtful review, Noelle. I am disappointed that the cabin didn't fully meet your expectations. I strive to be completely transparent so I can ensure that the cabin meets the needs of my guests. So, for any future potential guests, please note that the cabin is as described in the the listing -- a secluded mountain retreat. What that means: -- There are more stars than streetlights on your 30 minute drive west from Boulder. -- The wild scene nearby consists of owls and nighthawks, not nightclubs. -- As noted in the amenities, there is no tv. The wifi works great and is perfect for streaming movies and music on your iPad or other device. -- For those wanting to remain unplugged, I keep a diverse collection of books and games, puzzles, cards, and a number of maps for planning your next day's adventures. If you have any other questions about what to expect, please ask! Warmly, Melissa

I really enjoyed my stay at your beautiful cabin in the mountains. Great location to explore the mountains and nearby towns. The cabin was well equipped and super clean and comfortable . Love the simple clean decor. Brainard lake area was beautiful and don't miss Rocky Mountain national park. Thanks so much for 2 weeks of peace and quiet. I give this rental the highest rating possible. Thanks again!

Could not have been better....

Once again, everything at the cabin was great. So hospitable and comfy. We didn't see any large wildlife on the property, but did see a moose near Caribou Open Space towards Nederland. The leaves were just starting to turn. Beautiful!

Absolute peace

  • 5 of 5

We got a rental car when we arrived at the airport, a Hyundai Elantra. Nothing really meant for offroading. Although the hill up to the cabin was an unpaved road, we didn't experience any difficulties getting to the cabin. If you're concerned about that, there's no need to be.

The location was isolated, a perfect place to get away from it all. And still not terribly distant from Boulder, allowing us to go into the city during the day, and back to the cabin to enjoy the relaxation of being in nature. Plenty of hiking available in the area, as well as all that comes with being near to Boulder.

The stay was an absolute joy, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who needs to get away for awhile. It was the most relaxing, stress-free trip we've had in years.

Great Mountain Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We were seeking a private cabin in the mountains for a relaxing week, and Melissa's cabin was just what the doctor ordered. The cabin is quite spacious for 2 people, very nice "mountain" decor, and all the amenities one could want for a extended stay. We particularly enjoyed the large back deck where we spent a great deal of time. As far as privacy goes, if we'd never left the cabin we would not have had any contact with any other human beings. 30 minute drive to Boulder and short access to Estes park and ski towns to the southwest made getting around the mountains easy, for this Midwestern couple. Saw Mill road was an adventure the first time, but part of the charm.
