NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER DATES STILL AVAILABLE! Please check availability on our calendar before inquiring about dates.

Please read our full listing before sending a reservation request.

The Hummingbird Pines House is one of very few vacation homes in Yosemite West with only two stairs into the house, making it ideal for guests of all ages. Our other house in Yosemite West is Hummingbird Raven House, listing #94764.

Yosemite West is inside Yosemite National Park. It is a 25-35 minutes drive to Yosemite Valley attractions, 30 minutes to Glacier Point and 30 minutes to Mariposa Grove and Wawona. This is also the closest lodging for Badger Pass Ski Area, with downhill and cross country skiing and snowshoeing - only eight miles away from your door.

This Yosemite West home is located close to the Glacier Point Road, so you are very close to Taft Point and Glacier Point, the most spectacular views of Yosemite Valley.

Please check availability on our calendar before contacting us.

This house sleeps a maximum of 8-10 people. We cannot accommodate more than 10 guests.

INTERNET AND CELL SERVICE: Please note that we do not have wifi, because trees around the house block satellite reception from the South sky. There is also no cell service in Yosemite West. Cell service is spotty in Yosemite Valley. There is paid wifi available in Yosemite Valley.

This is a large house (1700 square feet) so we require a minimum of 4 guests over the age of 3. Minimum stay of 2 nights.

Up to 2 children under age 3 stay free, 10% discount on one week stays. (Please let us know if any of your children are aged 3 and under when you fill out the inquiry form.)

We accept dogs on a case by case basis. We do not automatically accept all dogs. We only accept dogs who are not left untended in the house or on the deck. There is also a fee and pet deposit required.

The upstairs master bedroom has a king size bed and bath. Downstairs are two additional bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. We have an upstairs loft area with two single beds, and a fold-out sofa bed in the downstairs living area which sleeps 2. All beds have comforters and pillows.

This house is equipped with a full kitchen and a large dining table. There is a bbq and dining furniture on the deck, which is a wonderful place to enjoy dinner and watch the sunset.

Like most homes in Yosemite West, Hummingbird Pines House does not have air conditioning. We do have individual room fans. Our location is 6,000 feet of elevation, so generally remains cooler than Yosemite Valley.

Why Michelle and Peter chose Yosemite National Park

Hummingbird Pines is inside the park, but outside the bustle of Yosemite Valley so it is quiet and peaceful. This house is ideal for groups of family and friends who want a nice house to come back to after a long day of adventure

What makes this house unique

This house is unusual in Yosemite West for it's easy access - there are only 2 stairs leading into the house, making it ideal for family groups with elderly members. It's a beautiful, large house with a cathedral ceiling in the living room. The house has a large kitchen and dining area, a barbecue on the deck and large living room with DVD player and DVD library.

Yosemite West is inside the Park boundaries, so it's a perfect location to enjoy Yosemite (20 minutes to Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point, and close to various trailheads). It has the advantage of being very close to the Badger Pass ski area, and being at a higher elevation than the Valley, which keeps the temperatures more comfortable in the summer months.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

Hummingbird Pines was a very well equipped, clean and spacious home for our family. True to the pictures shown. The quick ride to the valley (30 minutes) was great to beat the Memorial day weekend crowd. Michelle and Peter were great to work with and always quick to get back to us with a e-mail.

Lovely house in a lovely enclave

  • 4 of 5

House was large, well-appointed, excellent for a group of 8 (although we were 5). Spacious living area with cathedral ceiling in the living/dining room. Beds were comfortable. Location is good insofar as you're about 20 minutes to Yosemite Valley, and 30 minutes to Glacier Pt (excellent spot for sunset illuminating Half Dome!) So, everything pretty much as advertised.

Although we were aware of the lack of WiFi, we would encourage the owners to keep investigating options there. Also would encourage the owners to provide coffee filters and hand soap.

It was an excellent visit and would recommend this chalet to others.

Beautiful house!

  • 5 of 5

Hummingbird Pines is a lovely, comfortable, very clean house. Michelle and Peter were great with communication before our trip. We stayed for 3 nights and explored Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadow. Yosemite West is well within the park and is well sited for easy access to the Valley and the spectacular Glacier Point. The drive into the Valley takes you passed Tunnel View which is a tremendous vantage point. Highly Recommended.

Great home to start and end our days of Yosemite adventures.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed cooking with plenty of room for our big group (6 adults 1 child) to enjoy meals together and unwind at the start and end of our Yosemite days. Michelle was very prompt responding to questions via email before our trip too. Highly recommend it!

So my best gauge on rating accommodations is would I stay again, in this case is absolutely!!

  • 4 of 5

So my best gauge on rating accommodations is would I stay again, the answer in this case is absolutely.

The home was situated in one of the best areas to easily access Yosemite's frequented attractions. It was a 25-30 minute drive, 'distance wise much shorter', to the Valley Floor. For the 5 days we stayed there was almost no traffic holding us up. Taft/Sentinel Trailhead on Glacier Point Rd was the same distance and time. Great hiking from there!! Arrive early to get a parking spot, you can hike to one of the two points fairly easily from this trailhead and then take the shuttle up to the top, Glacier Point, and back for free. Also a 25 minute drive from the house South on Wamona Rd. the Swinging Bridge and swimming hole off of Forest Dr. (make a left turn at the Wawona General Store) Great place for kids and family to picnic and enjoy the great scenery. Shuttle service around the park is free, I would advise to park somewhere and use it!!

The house was spacious and accommodating. The three bedrooms were more than adequate and beds comfortable. Two full size bathrooms that can easily accommodate a large family. Full size kitchen with all the amenities needed. Large balcony porch with outside eating and grill area, off of the dining area that provided a great sunset view every day. Bring a book, your favorite DVD, or a board game and you will surely enjoy this home.

As mentioned by the owners you will be off the grid, so it is a great place to enjoy a digital disconnect from the world. If you must connect, don't worry there is spotty coverage in the area, and the Yosemite Valley has full digital and cellular coverage.

If staying for more than a few days be sure to stock up on your groceries prior to entering the park. There is a Vons Grocery located near the South entrance, if coming from the Fresno area. If coming from 120 it is probably best to stock up in Modesto, for the big chain stores. The closer you get to the park the smaller the stores become and selections are limited, especially in the park. Wawona General Store and the Yosemite Valley Store all have staples to get you through, at a premium though. Oh gas is about two times as much in the park as well so fill'er up before entering.

Also something that should be noted the home does not have AC, but there are plenty of fans to cool you down during the day and afternoon. Most nights the temps, even in the dead middle of summer, drop down to the 60's.
