SUMMER DATES STILL AVAILABLE! Please check availability on our calendar before inquiring about dates.

Please read our full listing before sending a reservation request.

The Hummingbird Pines House is one of very few vacation homes in Yosemite West with only two stairs into the house, making it ideal for guests of all ages. Please note: we cannot have wheelchairs or walkers in our house as they damage the floors. Our other house in Yosemite West is Hummingbird Raven House, listing #94764.

Yosemite West is inside Yosemite National Park. It is a 25-35 minutes drive to Yosemite Valley attractions, 30 minutes to Glacier Point and 30 minutes to Mariposa Grove and Wawona. This is also the closest lodging for Badger Pass Ski Area, with downhill and cross country skiing and snowshoeing - only eight miles away from your door.

This Yosemite West home is located close to the Glacier Point Road, so you are very close to Taft Point and Glacier Point, the most spectacular views of Yosemite Valley.

Please check availability on our calendar before contacting us.

This house sleeps a maximum of 8-10 people. We cannot accommodate more than 10 guests.

INTERNET AND CELL SERVICE: Please note that we do not have wifi, because trees around the house block satellite reception from the South sky. There is also no cell service in Yosemite West. Cell service is spotty in Yosemite Valley. There is paid wifi available in Yosemite Valley.

This is a large house (1700 square feet) so we require a minimum of 4 guests over the age of 3. Minimum stay of 2 nights.

Up to 2 children under age 3 stay free, 10% discount on one week stays. (Please let us know if any of your children are aged 3 and under when you fill out the inquiry form.)

We accept dogs on a case by case basis. We do not automatically accept all dogs. We only accept dogs who are not left untended in the house or on the deck. There is also a fee and pet deposit required.

The upstairs master bedroom has a king size bed and bath. Downstairs are two additional bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. We have an upstairs loft area with two single beds, and a fold-out sofa bed in the downstairs living area which sleeps 2. All beds have comforters and pillows.

This house is equipped with a full kitchen and a large dining table. There is a bbq and dining furniture on the deck, which is a wonderful place to enjoy dinner and watch the sunset.

Like most homes in Yosemite West, Hummingbird Pines House does not have air conditioning. We do have individual room fans. Our location is 6,000 feet of elevation, so generally remains cooler than Yosemite Valley.

About Michelle and Peter

Peter and Michelle

We have visited and loved Yosemite for many years, and are thrilled to own two vacation rentals in the park.

We love Yosemite for hiking, climbing, skiing, wildlife viewing and spending time in nature. Please feel free to email us with questions about things to do in Yosemite!

Michelle and Peter purchased this house in 2013

Why Michelle and Peter chose Yosemite National Park

Hummingbird Pines is inside the park, but outside the bustle of Yosemite Valley so it is quiet and peaceful. This house is ideal for groups of family and friends who want a nice house to come back to after a long day of adventure

What makes this house unique

This house is unusual in Yosemite West for it's easy access - there are only 2 stairs leading into the house, making it ideal for family groups with elderly members. Please note: we cannot have wheelchairs or walkers in our house as they damage the floors. It's a beautiful, large house with a cathedral ceiling in the living room. The house has a large kitchen and dining area, a barbecue on the deck and large living room with DVD player and DVD library.

Yosemite West is inside the Park boundaries, so it's a perfect location to enjoy Yosemite (20 minutes to Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point, and close to various trailheads). It has the advantage of being very close to the Badger Pass ski area, and being at a higher elevation than the Valley, which keeps the temperatures more comfortable in the summer months.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great home! Very clean! Great way to stay inside the park and avoid the entrance lines!

Comfortable, cozy, convenient

  • 5 of 5

This is a roomy house where our family of four could comfortably spread out, prep for and come home to relax during our winter stay in Yosemite. It is a very convenient home base from which to explore the park. The house is cozy and the rooms are big - Plenty of counter space to prepare meals. We appreciated the big dining tables inside and on the deck. Michelle and Peter provided puzzles and DVDs to augment our family time together. Agree with some reviewers that the lighting could be improved in several places, but that’s a minor issue and more than made up for by everything else this house provides. Also, Michelle and Peter are awesome owners - super-responsive on email! Come to Yosemite, and stay here!!

Would recommend in a heartbeat!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent location inside Yosemite National Park. The house itself is a perfect size for a medium to large group of guests, and Michelle and Peter were very responsive and helpful! When we weren’t outdoors hiking, we had all hands on deck helping prepare breakfasts or dinners, and the kitchen was perfect. We appreciated the thoughtful touches of having warm blankets, jenga, puzzles, and the stacked firewood.

Great vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, spacious house with easy access to Wawona, Glacier Point, and Tunnel View. Since the cabin is inside Yosemite National Park, recommend to anyone hoping to beat traffic with an early start. Peter and Michelle were great about communicating. Highly recommend!

Just right!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was just as described, plus lots of information about the area (maps, hikes, etc.), a ton of DVDs, and many helpful kitchen supplies. It's quiet and hassle-free.

It is easy to get to the Valley, and easier still to get to Glacier Point. Wawona seems to have most of the basics -- gas station, and the curiously well-supplied Pine Tree Market. Even if you're cooking at home, it's worth it to get breakfast (or another meal) at the historic Big Trees Lodge dining room.

So close to everything

  • 4 of 5

Nice family home, comfortable beds, perfect for our family. Plenty of room and nice and warm/cozy with the fireplace. The TV could be bigger with nicer sound system. My kids hated no wi-fi but I was perfectly fine with that. We would stay here if we ever visit Yosemite again.
