Nestled in the treetops, just over a block from Surfside Beach Park, the 'Surf Shack Vilano' offers you and your family a refuge.

The home is so airy and bright - You'll love leaving the windows open to enjoy the salt air and hear waves crashing on a high surf day. Enjoy high speed internet while Osprey and Pelicans fly by, and be amazed by the local shore-fishermens' catch.

This house is only a few blocks, then, over the bridge to St. Augustine - You could bike there, or dolphin watch during your venture via the (bike friendly) water taxi (Waxi) at our famous fishing pier. About Surf Shack Vilano

HI! I am from Hawaii and my husband is from Minnesota. My family moved to St. Augustine eons ago, and we found it to be an enchanting town to raise our little one in.

When we aren't looking after our properties, we love exploring off the beaten path," creeking" and other outdoor activities. We are vintage enthusiasts and love a good tiki bar. I am an on-location, media hair and airbrush makeup artist and my husband is in real estate.

Surf Shack Vilano purchased this house in 2010

Why Surf Shack Vilano chose Saint Augustine

Vilano Beach offered the layed back beach-lifestyle I grew up with - similar to a small town atmosphere, the neighbors all smile, wave and talk to you, you can walk to everything you need, and the sea treasure hunting on this beach is AMAZING!! Everything from gorgeous, huge conch shells, to shark teeth, to ship wreck items.

The stars and sky are glorious at night, and we love drifting off to sleep with the windows open. We are very close to the St Augustine attractions, but feel like we are in another world once we cross back over the bridge - Our Oasis.

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location! The house is close to the beach, without suffering the noise of A1A. I adore walking and biking with my family around the island, going to the neighborhood park, then swimming at the beach! We are just over the bridge from the excitement of St. Augustine, yet it feels a world away. Multi tasking a bike ride or walk (down the beach or over the marsh boardwalk) with grocery shopping is always better than the alternative! I also love this property because it is so airy and bright. The open floor plan is great for the whole family to converse in.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We just stayed here for our honeymoon and loved it! The owner was very friendly and timely in communicating with us, the location is great, and it's a cute little house just steps from the beach! We will be back!!

Excellent accomodations

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Surf Shack. It was comfortable, was nicely furnished, and included everything that we needed for our stay of two and a half weeks. The house was clean, and the kitchen was very well equipped. The weather was not warm during our stay, but the house was well heated and comfortable no matter what the temperature was outside. The house is close to a good supermarket, and only a short drive to downtown. What we especially liked was that we were only a few minutes walk to a great beach. When we had problems with the TV, we appreciated Kira's coming to our aid quickly. In all, we had a lovely stay, and would warmly recommend the Surf Shack.

We really liked the house

  • 4 of 5

We were last week end visiting Saint augustine (we are a family of French with 2 young kids) and we loved the house, very clean, convenient and close to the beach (5min walking). The renters were super nice and very flexible on check in and out which is an amazing plus with being with young kids! Thanks again

Relaxing!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was in a perfect location, just close enough to the beach and Old St. Augustine, but also far enough away for much needed peace and quiet. The house was just what we were looking for. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. Everything we needed was right there. Would definitely stay again!

Highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

The Surf Shack in Vilano was a godsend for us, having been left without use of our home due to Hurricane Irma. It's a very comfortable place, nicely appointed with everything you need to function as a household. It is located in a quiet neighborhood just a short walk to the beach, which fortunately had been left intact after the storm.

'Town Center' offers conveniences such as a new Publix grocery store, restaurants, dry cleaning, salon and a gas station - all within walking distance of home.

Vilano Beach is 'where the locals go' - For fun, enjoy a (bike friendly) water taxi into historic St. Augustine from our famous fishing pier. Spend time at the pier watching dolphins, fishing, or rent a jet ski from the Marina.
