This lovely waterfront home and private dock suitable for a 40' boat, is nestled in sheltered, picturesque Brentwood Bay. Our two-story home on a half acre features a beautiful living room with antique furnishings, piano, a river rock fireplace and floor to ceiling windows with panoramic views of the bay and marine activity.
The master bedroom features a queen size bed and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay as well. The modern kitchen has a heating Italian tile floor and a glassed-in eating area overlooking the seaside and gardens. Two other bedrooms are in the home with the fourth one being in the separate casita (with a full bathroom). Perfect setup for an extra couple or the in-laws. There is a total of 4 bathrooms.
Glass sliding doors lead out to the patio where there is a hot tub and a BBQ. From there you can access the dock for a swim or take out the kayaks or row boat to explore the bay. Children love swimming and playing on the beach.
A short stroll leads to nearby marinas and a good selection of pubs and restaurants. Butchart Gardens is within walking or rowing distance. On Saturday nights in the summer, a short paddle around the point at dusk will lead you into Todd Inlet to join the gathering of the many boaters anticipating a free peek at the world-class display of fireworks at Butcharts.
There is stunning scenery and wildlife to encounter. We have had baby seals born on the wharf nearly every June or July and we have had occasional whales in the bay. Day to day you can watch herons, eagles, seals, otters and more right in front of the house. In the bay, there is salmon fishing, prawning and crabbing. The Brentwood Bay ferry is 5 minutes away and takes passengers and vehicles on a scenic shortcut to Mill Bay, if you are planning a road trip up Vancouver Island.
This home is the perfect getaway to relax and get away as well as being only a 20 minute drive into lively Victoria. In Victoria you can take a ride on the Tally Ho, go whale watching or visit the Empress Hotel for tea. Then you can come back to our home, relax by the sea, take a paddle in the kayak (4 of them) or soak in the hot tub watching the sun sink into the horizon. It's a piece of paradise by the sea.
Deb and Ernie's waterside property is quite simply stunning. The house has all the facilities required to make for an enjoyable stay, including the kayaks! In addition the views of the bay are first class - we watched otters, seals, jellies, fish, crabs and hummingbirds for hours during our stay. Deb is very responsive to questions and personally manages the property. We didn't want to leave!
Staying at this house was the highlight of our vacation! We loved the calm and quiet of Brentwood Bay, enjoyed watching the otters and seals play around the dock, and the easy access to Victoria. Truly a perfect location. Deb and Ernie were spectacular hosts, providing not only an immaculate home for us, but even went so far as to leave a birthday cake for us, since we arrived on one of our birthdays! There were four of us and we had plenty of room to spread out. We would highly recommend this home to anyone. We hope to one day return! Thanks so much, Deb and Ernie for providing an such a memorable place for our celebration of retirement trip!
Our family of six (three 50+ siblings and their spouses) thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay at this lovely property. The right-on-the-water views of Brentwood Bay from the master bedroom, kitchen, dining, living and family rooms were so mesmerizing, we often had to push ourselves to get up and out of this beautiful home. There is plenty to do right at the property, from the kayaks and canoe on your own private dock to the hot tub and outdoor grille perched above the bay. Butchart Gardens is less than five minutes away, and we found good grocery stores and restaurants right in Brentwood Bay. Victoria is twenty+ minutes away, depending on traffic. We loved being far enough out of the city to luxuriate in a quiet bay community surrounded by nature, but close enough to enjoy trips into Victoria. (It's just far enough, though, that if vacationers think they will be spending a lot of time in Victoria, they need to be prepared for the daily traffic into and out of the city.) We used the Brentwood Bay ferry service, convenient but pricey, to spend a day in Cowichan Valley as well. The airport is some fifteen minutes away. Deb and Ernie could not have been more helpful. All in all, this is a perfect retreat for those wanting a beautiful, serene vacation spot with water activities steps away and many other Vancouver Island sites within easy reach.
Our much anticipated family retreat was totally enjoyable at Bay Haven. Location, accomodations, and amenities matched up to its billing. We didn't want to leave, but left with lasting family memories in a gorgeous, picture book setting. Deb and Ernie were great owners very gracious in sharing their home and knowledge of the area for an outstanding vacation.
