About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 4 Sleeps(twins in open loft)

Welcome to our recent remodeled beach cottage for the 'Ultimate Pacific Coast Surf Experience'. The photo's will depict views from the property and the newly remodeled and furnished interior. The cottage is truly the most adorable place with a mix of coastal and state of the art touches.

Check-in 4AM. Check-out 11AM

PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a wedding destination venue.

We unfortunately cannot accept reservations for wedding parties, pre or post wedding or social gatherings. 4 Guests maximum at all times.

The beach cottage is built on the bluff over looking a spectacular show of nature at her best. You will have your own private stairs down to a sheltered, secluded beach. You can have beach fun and family time exploring tide pools or a romantic, quiet picnic...Just the two of you and the ocean.

The design and construction team have kept the integrity of the seaside property with it's spiral staircase up to the loft, raked ceiling and coastal decor enhancing the beach house ambiance. Comforting neutrals, warm whites and current pops of fun color punctuate the decor. Driftwood effect ceramic floors, quartz counter tops and nautical theme accessories carry the beach cottage essence throughout.

The Pacific, west facing beach cottage allows you to view the surf at all times and enjoy the most breath taking sunsets, crashing surf, sea mist and bold rugged rock formations. The great room with it's 20 foot wide wall of pacific facing windows is comfortably furnished with a beautiful glass pebble, flame effect fireplace and a wall mounted flat screen TV with DVD player. Internet, free US and Canada long distance phone and an I-home are supplied for your convenience.

Dining for four at a table set in a corner window with views to both west and up the coast to the north, absolutely breath taking! All electric kitchen appliances: fast glass top range, and small appliances. And new quartz counter tops. The kitchen is well appointed for enjoying home cooked faire. Why go out when you can have the best ocean view in town with the surf as your back ground music! Enjoy your cracked crab and Chardonnay at sunset with your family or special other.

Attention to detail for your comfort continues throughout. Plenty of brand new towels, linens, comforters (with duvet covers) and quilts. All the mattresses and pillows have protectors and a high quality memory foam pad on the queen.

We have designed and furnished the Seamist beach cottage to create a memorable and wonderful experience that will leave you rested, renewed and ready to return again and again!

We look forward to your visit.

About Gay Jardine

We are a design and construction team with a lot of energy! We love taking something and turning it around. Our vacation rentals and guests are important to us and we enjoy our work. We also have other properties that have been a success and enjoyed by many.

Gay Jardine purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Gay Jardine chose Sonoma County

This property is a find in a million! You just don't come by a gem like Seamist every day. The impact of walking into the cottage and being blown away by the pounding surf right there in your living room was well beyond words!

What makes this cottage unique

Semi Priivate beach stairs. Semi Private beach stairs and secluded beach.

(PLEASE NOTE: Sorry, this is not a wedding destination location and we cannot host your wedding, pre or post wedding guests or hold your function)

Not only do you have an amazing up close ocean view, but, you have access to the beach below. The beach is close to being private with only one other neighbor's staircase. The tide cuts the beach off from either end, but you can still use the beach. The cottage is so close to everything and yet you can feel completely isolated. ALL YOU CAN HEAR IS THE SURF!

Any closer to ocean and you'd be IN it!

  • 4 of 5

Fantastic ocean views and sounds of waves crashing against rocks. Very nice cottage. There is a stairway down to ocean, but too much for me. I'd rather see from above. Very comfortable home and nicely updated. With two units on lot, would be a good place for a small family gathering.

Review

The overall experience was wonderful except, IT WAS COLD, COLD, COLD IN THE UNIT. The re-do of the unit were just wonderful. The view, the ocean, the entire property was really CLASS A. The heater should have been turned on the previous day, not the a.m. we came. We both had 4 layers of clothing and a blanket to watch T.V. When we went to bed we kept the comforter on and added a blanket. 2 small space heaters would have saved the cold evening and a.m. Jim, the caregiver was really nice and felt bad for us. Outside of that it would have been perfect.

Owner's Response: Hi John, Thanks for your review and it has been a pleasure speaking with you and answering your questions these past few months. Apparently, the area suffered an extreme cold-snap and was well below freezing(I heard after-the-fact that temperate Santa Rosa was at 28 degrees!)Add that to the damp coastline and it feels even colder! Unfortunately, we heard about it too late. Our manager did put an extra heater in. Sorry, wish I had heard sooner and we could have done something quicker. The two fireplaces under most circumstances are more than adequate as the BTU's exceed the square footage, however, we now have an additional heat source for emergency use. Thank you very much for visiting us at Seamist and we hope you will join us again!

Property, views exceeded expectations. Weather was not our friend.

  • 4 of 5

We loved the setting--Pacific majesty, dinosaur sized rocks, roaring surf, stairs down to the tide pool, walkable beach.

On the back side pastures, hills and happy cows. The cottage was private, well thought out, clean, cozy, comfortable. Bed was comfortable, bathroom, shower were functional with ample hot water. Heating--simulated fireplaces--was simple, straight forward, easy to control. We had 4 close friends over on one of the 2 sunny days. Everyone wanted to know how we found this gem. We had a wonderful time, and there was plenty of room, chairs on deck, and ocean to go around for a spectacular sunset. The next morning we were fogged in; the horizon was only a memory.

Weather was misty, rainy for 5 of the 7 days we were there. Visibility was often so poor, and we were reluctant to drive. We were denied the pleasure of eating at that "Spud" something or other restaurant on the bay with outdoor seating only, fantastic crab sandwiches and clam chowder. Boo Hoo.

The Pelican Deli a few miles south of the cottage was our only venture outward by car. Sandwiches were excellent, and we were able to purchase dairy, fruits & vegetables for the duration.

TV was great. Wifi was much appreciated.

Regret that weather prevented us from much needed exercise on the beach. Walks along Hwy 1 could be dangerous with cars having to negotiate winding roads. Again weather plus age limited our outdoor experiences. Nothing new this year. We had to vacate the Atlantic coast because of Hurricane Matthew. In summary. Loved the setting, cottage, and access to the beach. We would love to return and hope to if we could count on good weather.

We did lose power one evening during a rain storm. Flashlights would have been useful. Without power it was pitch black. There was no phone service because cell phone communication depended on wifi assistance.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for visiting Seamist. Happy that you did see the majestic beauty of the Pacific, though only briefly. So sorry that you had some bad weather, especially after escaping a hurricane!!! The Northern Pacific Coast can still be wonderful in stormy or foggy weather(in fact we love it like that!) We wish we could arrange great weather for all our guests. We have a landline for guests without cell phone service and we also have a lantern stored away in an upper kitchen cabinet as well as a plug-in rechargeable. Sorry you didn't find these items! Once again, we do appreciate you staying with us and thank you for taking the time to write.

Wonderful location. Beautiful home and the owners didn't forget anything.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful three days. Wish it could have been longer. Good restaurants close by. The kitchen was easy to navigate. Only suggestion is to give instructions on how to recycle. We're from North Carolina where we do recycle but I wasn't sure which trash cans to use.

My husband and I describe this home as a KEEPER. We definitely stay there again.

Owner's Response: Hi Fritz, Thanks so much for staying at Seamist, we really appreciate your time in writing to us too and for the recycle suggestion. We have a green can for recycles, but perhaps we need to be a bit more specific. Thanks again for bringing that to our attention. Hope to see you again and many thanks!

SEAMIST, a BRAND NEW remodeled beach house is situated on the bluff near Gleasons Beach on the Pacific Ocean, a short 5 mile drive north of Bodega Bay and 7 miles south of Jenner between Salmon Creek and the Russian River in Sonoma County. This Pacific get-away Beach House is unique and one of only a few actually situated on the ocean with it's own private stairs to the beach.

PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE NOT A WEDDING DESTINATION SITE AND CANNOT HOST WEDDINGS, PRE OR POST WEDDING PARTIES OR FUNCTIONS.

Upon entering Seamist Beach House you will be astounded at the visual before you...The Pacific Ocean in all her glory. You are so close you can feel her power and will be awestruck. Gulls fly past your 35 feet of wall-to wall, ceiling height windows. Pelicans land on Elephant rock, which punctuates your spectacular view. Enjoy watching migrating whales 'blow' in the distance. You will experience being alone and away from it all with the pounding surf surely as if it was your own!

This area is revered for it's dramatic coastline, famed wineries and lush farmland. For outdoor enthusiasts, hiking trails along Bodega Head, kayaking, local guided tours on Bodega Bay or waiting for the perfect wave at Salmon Creek, Gleasons (walking distance), Portuguese and Wright Beach, all within very close proximity are great ways to get out and enjoy this amazing location. For equestrians: Chancellor Ranch, a short drive away where you can take trails up into the hills or down to the ocean.

The coastal community offers seafood and family style restaurants, beach shops, galleries, saltwater taffy and kite shops, a marina, golfing and a spa. The Pacific Coast, Sonoma County with it's many attributes is a wonderful location. Just 70 miles from San Francisco and 7 miles south of Jenner and close to the charming little towns: Bodega, Sonoma, Guernville and Duncan Mills.

Seamist Beach House is an amazing location where you can restore and redefine relaxation.
