You will find our 4* cottage warm and cosy and having everything you need for a lovely break here in the National Forest.

We have Wifi for your use.

Parking for up to 3 cars is in the yard at the back of the cottage and the entrance is via the rear porch.

In the kitchen you have a dishwasher and washing machine and all the equipment you might need to cater for yourselves.

The lounge has a Smart TV and a welcoming wood burning stove. We provide the logs for free, many properties charge for fuel, we donโ€™t!

There is a separate dining room and if you need a high chair, we have one for you.

There is a ground floor toilet.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has a 5' large double bed, with TV and Freeview. If a foldaway bed is requested it will be placed in this room.

Bedroom 2 has a 4'6' standard double bed and also has a TV and Freeview.

The 3rd bedroom, which is the smallest, has 2 single beds.

The family bathroom has a large bath with a shower.

Outside, beyond the yard is the large garden which will be in the sun all day when the weather is good. It is peaceful too with fields on 2 sides. Children love to play here and we will fill your paddling pool in hot weather. If you bring your cycles we will store them for you.

We have 8 bistro chairs, a large table and a barbecue, perfect for your summer break.

The cottage is convenient for quick access: 8 minutes drive from the M42, junction 11 or 5 minutes from the A38 (take the junction south of Burton on Trent, signposted Walton on Trent).

I have lived in Coton-in-the-Elms very happily for 37 years. The people round here are friendly and welcoming. I love living in the country and enjoy walks and cycling round the lanes.

Why Helena Porter chose Swadlincote

The cottage needed a total makeover when we bought it, but I'm a very practical person and was a great builder's mate and project manager! Being close to our home means is so useful for looking after the house and garden and being there to meet and greet our guests.

What makes this Cottage unique

On a lovely summer day the sun will shine in the garden from sunrise to sunset and it is so peaceful! At the end of the day, take your glass of wine to the top of the garden and catch the last rays of the sun and the sunset...it is lovely!

There is a built in wardrobe with long mirrors and a selection of books and games. Bedroom (2) has a 4'6' standard double bed, and a TV with Freeview. Hair dryer. There is an original cupboard with a hanging rail and shelves. Bedroom (3) is the smallest and has 2 single beds and a chest of drawers. A folding bed can be provided in the Master bedroom for an extra child but space is limited. It must be requested from the owner in advance and a cost will be incurred. There are 2 alarm clocks, torches and a hair dryer.

                                                              A well kept and well equipped cottage

                                                              We loved this place, it has everything a family could need and there is off street parking too.

                                                              Although the village is "off the beaten path", you have easy access to some major roads, it's perfect for exploring the area!

                                                              The owner was very helpful in accommodating our late arrival and answering questions.

                                                              Definitely will use again when the need arises.

                                                              The location of the cottage is one of its advantages. It is quiet and yet easily accessible to two airports, Birmingham and East Midlands. The motorway and other major roads are just a few minutes away.

                                                              I'm glad my guests were very happy with the accommodation and enjoyed their stay.

                                                              We stayed here for three nights with our two sons aged 13 and 11. The cottage has been beautifully restored and was a lovely base to explore the area.

                                                              Helena met us with a lovely welcome and she was a wonderful host, she gave us some excellent advise on places to visit and Admirals Fish and Chip shop lived up to her recommendation.

                                                              We were pleasantly surprised to find Helena had stocked the fridge with some milk, eggs, bread and butter.

                                                              The house is spacious and light, three TV's and free wifi were really appreciated as were the stock of board games, which we played on a couple of evenings which was a lovely way to spend the evenings.

                                                              Normally we stay in hotels, but this experience has shown we can stay in a lovely house for the same cost, but with all the luxuries of home.

                                                              Thank you for your positive comments and information which will be helpful to future renters.

                                                              The provisions in the fridge are provided in case guests arrive late or hungry and haven't had a chance to shop. It means a breakfast and a cup of tea can be rustled up before the need to go out to the supermarket.

                                                              I stayed at this property for one week with my daughter and her two children aged 7 and 4. We all loved the cottage, which was immaculately clean on arrival and was very well equipped. Although our party was only four people, the cottage could readily accommodate six people both in terms of bedrooms and dining, and there was room to park two cars off road. The cottage has been well renovated with bright rooms. The main bedrooms are a good size and the downstairs (extra) toilet is a real boon. The garden is pretty and we were lucky enough to be able to eat outside there on at least one occasion. The cottage is well located for lots of local attractions and we found plenty to occupy and amuse two young children within a half-hour drive. The owner, Helena, went out of her way to ensure everything was on hand for us. There were a few items in the fridge to start us off in terms of catering, the heating was set up for us if we needed it, and she was contactable to answer any questions we may have had. In the cottage too, there was lots of information and brochures about places to visit and to eat nearby so, in the event, we didn't need to contact Helena whilst we were there. I would highly recommend this property and the National Forest area in general - particularly Conkers and the Rosliston Forestry Centre .

                                                              We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. Helena was very friendly and welcoming and showed us everything we needed. We have two young children who were well catered for and they loved the garden. The cottage is perfect for exploring the surrounding area. We visited Thomas Land at Drayton Manor and Twycross Zoo. We would happily recommend the cottage and look forward to another stay in the furture.

                                                              Here in the National Forest there is so much to do for adults and children. You can go to Thomasland at Drayton Manor Park, the National Memorial Arboretum, Calke Abbey (NT), Twycross Zoo, the National Brewery Centre, St Georges Park National Football Centre, and Conkers to name just a few. Our guests are constantly surprised at the number and range of interesting places to visit and other activities that are within a short drive of the cottage. Within 35 minutes drive you can be in Birmingham and nearer to home are Derby, Lichfield, Tamworth, Ashby de la Zouch, Swadlincote and Burton on Trent. The beautiful Peak District is north of here for a lovely day out. Coton-in-the-Elms and our cottage is ideally placed in a quiet village location with a friendly real ale pub, and small shop. We have many walks, cycling, fishing and horse riding nearby. Getting here is easy. We are right in the centre of the country and road links are excellent (M42 and A38).
