We Have Some Of The Best Summer Rates In This Quaint Beach Town! First time ever offering a 4 night minimum stay, perfect for Families wanting to split their vacation week between San Diego County, and Los Angeles!
Hollywood Hills meets the ocean in this charming house just one and a half blocks from the beach. The artist/owners of this property have taken great care in replicating a Spanish Hacienda. Built in a U-shape, all of the bedrooms open out to a private courtyard, ideal for meals or your afternoon happy hour. The 18-inch plaster walls keep the house cool in the summer.
The owners literally scoured old Hollywood houses to furnish the place. Their hunt turned up a subzero refrigerator that belonged to Scarlett Johansson and french doors from Gregory Peck. You will find all of the modern conveniences in this home, including a Wolf range, the subzero, wine cooler and dishwasher. The master bath has double shower heads, so much outdoor space including an 800sq ft. roof deck! The house exudes charm and is only available in the summer months.
It is only a three block walk to the pier or to the downtown Oceanside for great restaurants or to catch the coaster to downtown San Diego and other local beach communities in between.
The harbor with fine restaurants is a short walk up the bike path. Enjoy live music or rent a stand up paddle board.
San Diego has a lot to offer including LEGOLAND (just 10 minutes away), Wild Animal Park, Del Mar Race Track, La Jolla Playhouse, Sea World, Old Town, Gas Lamp District, Petco Park, San Diego Zoo, and the Balboa Park Museums, casinos and wine country. But Oceanside has the biggest and best sand beaches, and if surfing is your thing you have one of the best breaks on the coast directly across the street!
Oceanside is centrally located and also close to lots of attractions in the Los Angeles area, just a short drive to places such as Disneyland, Universal Studios and the Hollywood Walk Of Fame ~ easy drive for a day trip!
There are beds for 6 Guests, plus two floor mattresses suitable for kids or teens.
Please be advised...... there is no A/C unit, most homes in the Coastal Southern California areas rarely got warm enough to require A/C
We are both educators who like to travel during the summer.
Barbara Tedford purchased this house in 1998
Our home was originally a Studebaker garage that we lovingly restored into an authentic 1920's style Spanish Colonial Revival beach home. Many of the fixtures are actual period pieces! Staying here is like going back in time.
Lots of outside entertaining and lounging space including a 900 square foot rooftop deck.
It was my first experience in Oceanside and our stay was memorable due to this home. The location was close to everything....beach, shops, pier, and the Thursday night market downtown. The home was roomy. The courtyard was perfect for washing sand off and drying towels/swimsuits. The rooms were large. I would stay here again.
Our family found this home to exceed our expectations. It's design was from the 1920's but decorated in a warm manner. We found the accommodations to be excellent and walking distance to the beach and pier. We will return next year to this home. I encourage others to experience it.
WE STAYED HERE SUMMER OF 2013.THIS RENTAL IS THE BEST PLACE WE HAVE STAYED ON ANY OF OUR VACATIONS. THE PROXIMITY TO THE BEACH AND DOWNTOWN WAS PERFECT FOR OUR FAMILY OF 7. PLENTY OF SPACE TO SPREAD OUT AND RELAX. WE WOULD RENT THIS LOCATION AGAIN.
This house was a perfect choice for our recent family gathering that included young children. There was lots of outdoor seating for hours of relaxation and visiting. A big, full kitchen and outdoor barbecue were great for putting together family dinners. The three bedrooms all open to an interior courtyard and cool evening breezes to make for comfortable sleeping. The location is fantastic and a very short walk to the beach and downtown. With our group and beach gear we appreciated the little red wagon for hauling. Barbara was wonderful to work with and always available to answer our questions and concerns.
My family and I (4 adults, 3 children) enjoyed a week's stay at this beach house this past July 13, 2014. The house was exactly as promised and the rental agent was excellent to deal with. Whenever we had a question she text back very quickly. Within about a week she had already refunded our security deposit. This house is very close ( a few blocks) to the beach. We would take the wagon they provide and load our stuff and walk down to the beach. There is also parking down at the beach if you want to drive or you can stop on the road right by the beach to unload if you have a lot of stuff to take for the day. The beach is nice with nice waves and lifeguard's right there. The pier is close-by. There is a little market just down the road and plenty of neighborhood food establishments - loved the burger place down the road which had great food - morning, noon or evening. The neighborhood is very nice and we had no problem with parking - there was always parking on the road in front of the house. Legoland is very close. The house is nice and large… has a front yard and a nice courtyard in the back, plus an upstairs space over the garage - so plenty of enclosed and safe areas for the kids to roam and play without worries. We have a special needs little boy so this place was perfect as we were looking for a non-frilly place where little fingers with food on them or spills would be no big deal. The living room furniture was vinyl and the floor was painted concrete - so perfect for our family with 3 kids. The home is exactly as pictured on the web site. We loved all the games that were provided - we played them every evening with the kids also there are lots of books available to read. All the kitchenware is provided and there is also an ice maker which came in handy. Each bedroom opens up to the back courtyard which was real nice for air movement and the kids loved running around and going into the different rooms. We had a great time and would definently rent this place again.
This is one of my favorite vacation spot! I’ve stayed here many times! It’s a spacious, comfortable house with high ceilings, a private inner courtyard and deck on the roof. I don’t need to describe the house too much since there are plenty of pictures. Although I will mention the owners have recently put in a new fence around the property that looks great and makes the courtyard even cozier. In fact, every time I’ve stayed here, the owners have added more improvements. The owners are good people; genuine, super friendly, a pleasure to know!
The house is in a great location. It’s an easy two-block walk to the beach. Another 10 minutes south along the coast gets you to the pier. Great area for bike rides too. There’s a great little food stand near the entrance to the pier that I’ve forgotten the name of but highly recommend. I don’t surf but the pier seems to generate some good waves considering the number of surfers here. There’s a Ruby’s at the end of the pier as well a bait and tackle shop for those who like to fish. No license required to fish from the pier.
A 15-minute walk north of the house will take you to the harbor where there’s a little shopping village and some good restaurants including a Joe’s Crab Shack and a sports bar and grill. You can also rent boats and kayaks from here.
If you head south on Tremont St (again a 10 minute walk) you’ll reach the Stone Beer Garden just past Civic Center Dr. It’s great outdoor spot to sip a beer or two! Keep going down Tremont and you’ll hit the AMC theaters at Mission St. There’s plenty of shopping here too.
There is also a little liquor store a block away on Surfrider Way and a great mom and pop butcher and market called Red and White on Coast Hwy in case you’d rather eat in. Or if you want to head south toward San Diego for a day trip the train station is, again, a 10 – 15 minute walk south of the house.
Love this place. I highly recommend it!
Our location between downtown Oceanside with the pier, and the harbor, allows a quick walk to both attractions. There are many excellent restaurants, bars, and shopping opportunities in the Harbor, and the same in the downtown and pier areas. Additionally, there is a great beach break for surfing and the pier offers both left and right point-break waves depending on swell. For anglers, surf casting is excellent, with catches including corvina, spot-fin croaker, kelp bass, surf perch, leopard shark, sting ray, and sand shark. You can fish from the pier without a license, and there is a store on the pier that rents all necessary equipment.
