Just what we were looking for in Alexandria Bay

  • 5 of 5

My adult kids and I spent a long family weekend at the cottage in Mid July. We were hoping for, and found, a spot for all of us to be together as much as desired, but with easy access to A Bay's attractions for individual pursuits and relaxation. The cottage is actually nicer than it appears in the photos (this seemed surprising to me!). Every kitchen convenience we needed was supplied and also very clean. Looking out the kitchen window put me in mind of being in a terrarium, with its variety of plants and rocky outcropping showing through. Comfortable chairs and sofas for talks, TV (we didn't use them, but there are 3 in the house), porch sitting, or eating are abundant throughout the living room, sitting room, dining room and kitchen. The 4 bedrooms easily accommodated our group of 5, with one room left unused. I was happily surprised to walk in and see such a nice home for us.

Having never visited the village before, we wondered if we would be a long way from the water, but a short walk takes you just about anywhere in town - including the river and many restaurants. My son fished at one of the nearby parks (no luck, but he didn't spend enough time there, in my opinion). My daughter and her friend rode bikes to the parks and other destinations. She and I drove to a the Macsherry Trail and hiked a moderate (3 mile) trail that unfortunately was partially flooded at the time, but we made it through on a beautiful day!

A very nice personal touch...Lara called me as we were heading home to ask if I'd left a thermos. I had. She offered to send it to me, and it arrived today.

I regret sounding like a travel brochure, but I truly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Couldn't have been more satisfied.

Cozy cottage feel on a quiet street, yet still close to town

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was wonderful and fit our needs perfectly. We were in town for a family wedding, so it was nice to be so close to town and the venue, but still have our own private place to go home to. The house is on a quiet street, but is still close enough to the main downtown area to easily walk. We loved sitting on the front porch and drinking coffee or reading. We would definitely consider booking this place again someday.

Wonderful comfortable place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Loved staying at this cottage/house. Everything you need is here as far as dishes, utensils, pots and pans, washer/dryer. Nice front porch for relaxing with a glass of wine from one of the area wineries. Also loved being able to walk down to area restaurants, shops or the dock to catch one of the many boat tours. This rental ended up being convenient for us because both my husband's aunt and uncle lived within walking distance. We had a wonderful time here! And if you need a hair cut, visit Marie's hair salon on Church street!

Perfect cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect for our family weekend in Thousand Islands. It is such cute place and it had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the front porch. The location is slightly off the beaten path but within walking distance to the lovely town of Alexandria. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to find a cozy and unique place to stay.

A Sweet Retreat on a Beautiful Fall Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This roomy, private cottage in the town of Alexandria Bay is fantastic. It's lot is woodsy feeling. It's decorated with care that makes it feel special but not over done. It has a ton of rooms to accommodate sleeping, eating, and hanging out. We lucked out with a gorgeous late fall weekend and used the front porch morning and night. Close enough to walk into town. We walked the pier and visited the Dockside Bar & Grill. The owners were willing to extend their season and make sure we had working heat when we lost out on our original rental in the area. Lara was very easy to work with and responded quickly to all my texts and emails. Would stay again for sure.
