amazing family holiday
Our stay at Los Cocoteros exceeded our expectations in every way; the villa is huge! much bigger than we thought, bright and airy; the beautiful rooms are all en-suite and very comfy; the outdoor patio is where we had all our meals and relaxed; the pool was a big hit especially with the kids!
Coral, the caretaker, was awesome and cooked for us a number of times delicious local dishes! she was welcoming and made sure everything was just perfect.
We loved the resort where we were able to kitesurf and play golf everyday! can't wait to go back!
Perfect extended family vacation
Our three generations vacation surpassed all of our expectations. The villa was fully appointed, spacious, comfortable and its 5 bedrooms, each with full bath, gave everyone their privacy very easily. The location near The Tortuga Bay end of the resort was ideal...close to the Eco reserve and its lagoons and as well as horseback riding (all ages), deep sea fishing, scuba and a quick walk around the 8th tee to a pristine private segment of the beach. My grandson was in the pool 5 times a day. We engaged Coral to shop for and cook lunch and dinner above the breakfast included in the rental. She was lovely and a wonderful cook.
huge house/golfers paradise
The house is much bigger then it looks in the photos. It has 5 equal sized bedrooms that are all massive with their own lovely bathrooms (great for traveling with a big group since no one will feel jipped that they got the wrong room!). We spent most of our time on the back porch where we ate all our meals at the large communal table or relaxed in the separate sitting area. Coral the house keeper was he best part of the house. She is an incredible cook and made us wonderful meals taking into account our dietary differences (we had a couple vegetarians in our group). The lovely beach is a 2 minute walk from the house through the golf course. Golfers will be delighted as the house is right on the golf course. You definitely need to rent a car to access the local markets for groceries - then stay in the house and let Coral cook you amazing meals (restaurants in the resort are plentiful but expensive and not nearly as good as Coral's cooking).
Everything and More!
My husband and I decided to take our family on a winter vacation as our Christmas present to them this year. Included with us were our 3 adult daughters and their spouses, our adult son , and our 3 year old and 6 month old grandaughters. This home fit our needs well. It was lovely and well cared for, and very comfortable. We had no idea that "housekeeper" meant our every need would be met. Coral took wonderful care of us and helped in any way she could. We opted to eat one dinner out at La Yola Restaurant, which was a beautiful setting and good food, but the rest of our meals were cooked, served and cleaned up by Coral and her niece, Deborah. We decided to pay extra for them to cook our dinners in additon to breakfast and lunch. They helped us write a grocery list and secure a driver for transportation to the market, and then they prepared delicious healthy dinners, lots of variety. We grilled the fish we caught, after two days of deep-sea fishing. We ate every meal on the porch by the pool. We all loved the pool at the villa, but also walked over to the beach close by. We enjoyed a morning at the new Westin Hotel (golf cart ride) on the resort, where the 3 year old found some children to play with in the pools. We also spent a day or two at the Punta Cana beach club (golf cart and/or walked)where we enjoyed the beach, pool and had lunch. We spent another afternoon at the beach at La Choza restaurant(golf cart), which is where some of our group met the boat that took them snorkeling. We ended up making the one golf cart at the villa work for us because the club only offered a 2-seater for rent which wouldn't have helped us much and was expensive. The only problem we had was when one of the bedroom air-conditioning units stopped working, but Coral contacted the owner immediately and it was fixed as soon as possible.
Michael, the owner, was a huge help in our planning, answered all my questions and patiently addressed all my concerns. He arranged for someone to pick us up at the airport for the short ride to the villa.
Everyone in the family would tell you that this was the best Christmas present they've ever had. I would recommend "Los Cocoteros" to anyone. We hope to return!
I stayed at this beautiful villa with my husband, two children (18 months and 3 years), my brother and wife, their teenage daughter and my aunt and father. Everybody had a great time. We were pleasantly surprised because although the house looks beautiful in the pictures it is even better in person. We enjoyed playing cards and drinking cocktails on the veranda, eating family dinners on the outdoor dining table, swimming in the pool and relaxing in the back yard. We'd either walk the 200 meters to the quiet beach nearby or ride the golf cart to the beach club where we could order food and drinks while lounging on the beach. For more active people, there are also a variety of activities to be found in the area. My husband and brother took scuba diving classes (there are amazing coral reefs) and received their scuba diving certificate. There are also numerous restaurants in the resort which you can reach by golf cart. My favorite was Bamboo at the Tortuga Bay hotel, which had an amazing trio singing when we went. Or the housekeeper can make delicious meals including Sancocho, Dominican flag, Mangu and Ceviche.
I do recommend renting a car if your plans are to visit places outside the resort where the golf cart cannot reach. Also if there will be more than one trip to the supermarket because taxis are expensive and are not 100% reliable.
My Husband and I spent a wonderful few days in this house. Even though it was just the two of us this time, the house would comfortably accommodate10 guests. It has a beautiful pool and back yard that borders the La Cana golf course.
The house is walking distance from a sandy beach (w/ beach club facilities and restaurant) and the Tortuga Bay hotel and restaurant.
The owner has been very accommodating and the housekeeper is wonderful.
