We are located 13 miles from the south entrance. Should take approx. 20 min. to get there and another 45 min. to 1 hour to get to the valley floor. I would advise leaving early to avoid backup at the entrance gate. To truly explore Yosemite's beauty it will take several days.

Adorable one of a kind house on a river and waterfall. I have stayed here twice.

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic feeling of being taken away by sounds of the waterfall. Heals something deep inside me to listen and watch right from the house and two decks at two levels. A super cute new bathroom, quartz shower with a cute sitting area with a mini chandelier make it so fun. The lower deck was added and is even closer to the river. Adorable new green grass eco looks totally real but can be enjoyed out back for a sense of yard which most people cannot have due to rugged mountains. Ruth is a super caring host and takes great care of her home she graciously shares and personally decorates it has a great water whole house filter too . I would have this home if I could but the best of this world is I get the pleasure of staying! And enjoying the fruits of their labor of love. I highly recommend this house for 4-5 person family as it's two bedroom but the house feels open and spacious with windows and decks and open living area and vaulted ceiling. Super comfortable billowy master bed I slept better than expected. I will come back to be at peace. Drive in close to Yosemite and spend most my time right at the house in nature. Love it. Can't say enough good stuff. Ruth may even add a king bed she told me for taller couples than me! lol.

Owner's Response: Hi Liza, I was so excited to find out I had a repeat guest. All the changes I've made makes your visit even better. I still need to change the photos on VRBO to reflect all the new amenities added. However, if someone is willing to reserve the Waterfall House with the existing photos they have a pleasant surprise coming. Smiles, Ruth

We loved our stay at Waterfall Cottage. Ruth was the perfect host. Left us roses, cookies and candies for Valentine's Day weekend getaway. Our favorite was sitting down on the observation deck with our wine, just relaxing and listening to the river below. convenient location to go into Yosemite for a day trip. Thank you for a perfect weekend.

super nice location, some mgmt problems though

  • 3 of 5

I found this house at last moment before Thanksgiving. For me it is all about location, which is incredible. You can just sit there the whole day on the deck (upper or lower), watch the waterfall and listen to the running water. So nice!

The house itself is not big, but nicely equipped and very pleasant. It is true that the beds are somewhat short/small. I'm about 5'7'' and was ok there, but a taller person might have a problem. It is quite close to Wawona entrance to Yosemite and 5 mins drive to the Bass Lake.

My problem is that I had to deal with Bass Lake Realty and not with the owner directly. Despite the fact that you are charged quite a lot on top of the nightly price, it looks to me that the mgmt really needs to update their procedures to something more contemporary:

I had to call them and wait a long time on the phone while they were putting all my details on the contract. By the way I was charged security deposit equal to my stay charge. Then I was sent over email all the papers , I had to sign and return them back. In addition the default is that I should go to their office to receive the keys and sign guest check in. I declined to do so and they agreed to have the keys left in the security locker in advance. Still beats me how should I sign anything before I see the house? And on top of it we forgot our slow cooker at the property, so it took me 3 weeks and countless number of phone calls to their office to get it back. At the end they managed to send it to us with USPS and asked us for check to be mailed to them, which we gladly did, but since there are 2 addresses for the Bass Lake Realty office - one that they gave us over the phone, the other one is POB where the mail goes it came back...

So you got the picture - enjoy your stay and don't leave anything behind :)

Owner's Response: Hi Igor, I'm glad your visit to the Waterfall house was nice. We just received a new Cal King bed and are testing it this weekend. We moved the Queen into the kids room and removed the twin altogether. As a result of all the changes we now are able to sleep 6. Regarding Bass Lake Realty, they have been more than professional in the past, so i was surprised when I read your review. I've forwarded your review to the manager and requested a meeting. I'm very sorry for your inconvenience. Regards, Ruth

Very comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The waterfall view is very nice from all three viewing points

The two beds in one room are very comfortable for one person each, the master bedroom bed could be larger, at least a queen, it was too small for the two of us

The kitchen had just about everything

Just off HWY 41 to Yosemite about 2 hours to the valley excepting road construction
