About the property

House – 3 Bedrooms + Loft + 3 Baths + Studio apartment w/kitchen and bath (slee

This beautiful property is the best of both worlds. It is just minutes from fine dining and shopping in Historic Downtown Durango or 20 minutes from hitting the slopes at Durango Mountain Resort at Purgatory. The property is as close to town as you can get, while stilling feeling like you’re in the mountain wilderness.

The unique house, with studio apartment, are nestled between large pine trees and situated in the Animas Valley with gorgeous views of the red rock Folsom Ridge. The complex is private and serene, but has many amenities very close by. Within walking distance from the house, is a Durango Transit trolley stop which can get you downtown in just ten minutes for $1.

Cozy is another theme for this mountain getaway. An open floor plan gives the home a flow from kitchen, through the dining room and into the living room. This house is perfect for dinnertime and entertaining large groups; featuring a wet bar, a dining room table that seats eight and a table in the sunroom that seats six.

The living room has a wood-burning stone fireplace and an over-sized window seat. The living area and bedrooms have original hardwood floors, while the kitchen, sunroom, mudroom and bathrooms all contain ceramic tile floors. The vaulted, wood-plank ceiling and exposed beams bring the living area together.

The large kitchen contains luxury Dacor dual convection wall ovens, a Dacor six-burner gas stovetop, granite and ceramic tile countertops, dishwasher, refrigerator with icemaker and water dispenser, microwave, Keurig and traditional drip coffee systems, along with heated floors to keep your toes toasty warm. Attached to the kitchen is a sunroom, which is the perfect place to sit and have a cup of tea or coffee and read in the morning sun. A separate exterior side entrance opens up into the mudroom, with an in-floor grate for wet boots, hooks for numerous coats and heated floors; the perfect room for gear storage and doggy hang out.

The house has three bedrooms, including a spacious master suite. The suite is separated from the rest of the house, giving it a more intimate feel. It is comprised of a romantic gas stove/fireplace, lofted wood ceilings, exposed beams and a sizeable master bath with heated towel rack. The master also includes a loft, which can sleep two adults or three children. This loft is ideal for a kid’s hideaway. The other two bedrooms are good-sized, with queen beds and plenty of storage. One of the bedrooms can serve as an office space, with antique roll-top desk, wireless printer/scanner/copier capabilities and a high-end therapeutic memory foam pullout couch/bed. There is also a full bath and a ¾ bath.

A quaint detached studio is located above the garage and can sleep four people. It has a queen-sized bed, along with a pullout couch with a comfortable queen built-in air mattress, a bathroom with shower and small eat-in kitchen. Includes remote-controlled gas stove/fireplace.

Enjoy your downtime in our outdoor spa. Relax in the 6-person hot tub or sweat off a day’s worth of activities in our 6 person custom-built sauna. When temps get too high, cool off under the outdoor shower/cold plunge. The spa is located conveniently via stairs right outside the master suite bath and also accessible from the downstairs living area. Do some outdoor cooking on the stainless steel grill or roast marshmallows at the fire pit in the yard, under the vibrant stars. There is even a tree-hung swing for the kids to play on in the large, fenced yard.

This Durango Retreat is the perfect destination for your family and group getaway!

*Please note we usually do not book the home more than 6 months in advance.

**Winter months AWD/4WD/chains recommended.

The house was perfect for our family vacation.

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful. We had 13 people in our party and there was plenty of room for everyone. It was only a 25 minute drive to the Purgatory ski resort. The property manager was very prompt in answering any questions we had. I highly recommend this property for a vacation place.

Cozy and Accomadating

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our Christmas stay of four days in this home. We took all our family and parents for a total of 9 people staying in the home. It was clean, had everything you could possibly need to cook and relax. Brittany and Logan made sure the driveway was cleared of snow every morning (Including Christmas). This is definitely a home I would recommend and consider staying in again. Thank you both for making our stay so enjoyable!

The MOST remarkable property

  • 5 of 5

We came to Durango for our son's wedding. We initially booked the house because it was large enough and Brittany was so accommodating and supportive when we asked if we could hold the rehearsal dinner at the house. When we arrived we were stunned at how much more beautiful the property was then even the photos depict. Brittany was extremely helpful and pleasant even loaning outdoor tables from her yard. We had everything we needed and then some. Frankly, the house was so comfortable and the scenery so beautiful we did not go to town much at all. Two large bucks greeted us in the yard several mornings and the rainbows over the cliffs were magnificent. We all agreed we would return. In fact, I am very late in placing this review. I just checked in to book the house again and saw I had not submitted this earlier. We actually stayed there Oct 10, 2015 onward but it has been too long to list that date. At any rate, this is, by far, my favorite of many vrbo and air b&b homes at which we have stayed.

Beautiful retreat from summer heat!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a very comfortable family gathering this July at this Durango property. The house comfortably fit all 13 of us and outdoor seating made for fun family dinners each night - the nice grill was also well-used by our family. After days of climbing, hiking, biking and paddling the hot tub was a relaxing for all of us. The house is extremely well furnished with every kitchen gadget you could need, plenty of towels, paper goods, etc. There were even bikes in the garage that were available for our use. If we return to Durango we know where we will be staying, thanks!

Fit our family of 13 perfectly

  • 4 of 5

Each of our three kids with their individual families were able to have their own space. A few little glitches, i.e. Trying to figure out the light switches!!!! No keys to lock up, but we had the pleasure of seeing a bear in the back yard! Very exciting for all. Close to Durango for groceries, and of course the Rec Center with a great play pool for the younger kids. All in all a great experience for your first family reunion.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback Lilian and glad we were able to accommodate your large family! We're sorry you had trouble finding the keys. We keep the two sets in the bowl with the welcome book and would have been happy to help show you had we known. Thanks again for your stay and for bringing our spoon back :).

Wonderful Week

  • 5 of 5

Our family, grandparents, children with spouses and grandchildren spent a week here at the end of June. Everything was as described. All enjoyed the spacious house, the hot tub, sauna and space to do things outside. Logan and Brittany were wonderful and right there when we had a question. It was an unusual warm week. The unit over the garage was great as an additional unit but, it was extremely warm with no AC. Those there did adjust by running the fan that was provided. The house is located at great spot for all our activities we had planned for the week. It was also close to not just our activities but the food stores, the down town area with great restaurants. They also provided a number of bikes including a bike for two and a uni cycle which we took advantage of. We would recommend this home for anyone traveling with a family or group. Thank you for helping make our vacation a wonderful time.

Owner's Response: We very much enjoyed hosting your family on such a special vacation! The award for most activities during a single stay goes to you guys as you really experienced the area to the fullest. The A/C was definitely an issue with the hot temps and we appreciate you letting us know. We were able to add an A/C unit to the Studio, which has helped greatly with the summer temps and wish we would have gotten it sooner for you to enjoy. Thanks so much for the recommendation and we'd love to host your family again in the future!
