About the property

Walk to three beaches from this 1 bedroom apartment with loft

Down a private lane sits this new second floor apartment offering modern amenities with old beach style. Relax in the Adirondack chairs on your mahogany deck overlooking Round Pond or stroll to any of the three beaches (Lloyds, Surfers and Tappans) that make Sakonnet Harbor so special. And when you are ready for a little exploring, don't miss Goosewing Beach Preserve, designated 'One of the Last Great Places' by the Nature Conservancy. Or head to Newport with its Gilded Age mansions, the bustle of its wharfs and abundance of fine dining establishments. Check your dates for the Jazz Festival, Blues Festival, Food & Wine Festival or Boat Show. You won't want to miss The Whaling Museum in New Bedford, and Sid Wainer's gourmet outlet just off I-195. There's lots to see and do but after a busy day touring, you'll be happy to return to the peace and quiet of Sakonnet.

'The Barn' features one bedroom with Queen bed and a loft with two twin beds from which you can see the Sakonnet Lighthouse. The modern kitchen is open to the light-filled living room and dining area. Off the living room is the deck with eastern view to Round Pond for magnificent sunrises and terrific birdwatching. The bathroom features tub with shower. There is a shared outdoor shower and BBQ grill, private backyard and fire pit.

The Stone House Inn & Spa, Sakonnet Yacht Club and Sakonnet Golf Club are just a short walk from The Barn. Little Compton's Common with churches, restaurants, shopping and Wilbur's General Store is an 8 minute drive, and along the way you can stop to purchase fresh eggs, produce and flowers from roadside stands or visit the Art Cafe for fresh baked goodies and excellent coffees, cappuccino or tea to take home or enjoy under the shade of an old tree. Life in Little Compton is relaxed and easy.

One week minimum summer rental, no weddings or parties.

Great place to stay in Little Compton

  • 5 of 5

My family just returned from a trip to Little Compton in July and we had a blast. The barn is a great place to stay and is close to three beaches. Most days, we took the 10 minute walk and spent the day at Tappans Beach, our favorite. It was also convenient to drive to Newport for a day trip (about 45 minutes) or take the ferry to Block Island. The barn is adorable and had everything we needed. Our daughter especially loved the loft. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and gave us all the information about where to go in Little Compton. I would highly recommend the Barn if you are visiting Little Compton.

Relax and disconnect!

  • 5 of 5

The Barn is immaculate and attractively provisioned. The setting is exquisite - views of the nearby salt pond, gardens in full bloom and sunshine all day long. We brought our bicycles and found the area friendly for us (we typically bike on Rail Trails). Nearby farms were in summer harvest mode - delicious! Daytrips to Newport, Horseneck Beach, and poking in galleries in Four Corners...Little Compton is quiet and off the beaten track.

Great place in Little Compton

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely immaculate 1 bedroom plus loft, close to three beaches in Little Compton. Everything was exactly as described in the listing, and this property, along with the beautiful Little Compton area, exceeded my expectations in every way. Best vacation I've had in years.

This home is perfect for a couple or small family (sleeps a max of four people, with a great queen-sized bed in the master bedroom and twin beds in the sleeping loft). Bright and airy with great views off the deck and through lots of windows. The kitchen is well appointed with new top end appliances. High end linens for the bed and bath are provided. (Bring your own beach towels though.) There's laundry, a gas grill and a great outdoor shower, which are shared with the owners in the main house. The property is within walking or biking distance of three beaches, with more options a short drive away. There are many absolutely incredible spots for watching sunsets. Bring a good camera!

The owners were perfect hosts, very welcoming and always willing to provide us LC newbies with tips about area beaches, sights, etc.

If you really want to get away from it all, this is the place for you. Little Compton is everything that the Cape and Islands used to be. Take away the crowds, the traffic, the over development, and that's what you have in this gem of a community. We'll definitely be visiting again next summer!

Charming Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage with wonderful water views! The living/sleeping areas were cozy and immaculate and the kitchen was well-equipped. We were there in midsummer and the grounds were green and lush with flowers - really beautiful! Easy walk to the ocean. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat, this is the perfect place.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at The Barn twice and each visit was perfect. The location on Round Pond is so convenient, a quick walk to beaches and Sakonnet Harbor. The Stone House is a terrific place for dinner and the fire pit with s'mores is great fun. The local produce and fresh fish is superb. The kitchen is well stocked for the evenings we stay in and cook, and there are some very good restaurants for the nights we chose to go out. My husband loves to kayak on Round Pond and in the River, I prefer a good book on the deck. The Barn is new and beautifully decorated, with antique prints and fine linens. It is one of my favorite places.
