Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible Bed(s), Plus Bunk Beds (Sleeps 8)
Thanks for considering our Lighthouse beach front condominium. The Lighthouse complex is unlike many condominium complexes in that there is no 'tunnel' effect. The lateral design is such that there is more a feeling of openness. The complex features free Wi-Fi and high speed internet access throughout. Amenities are awesome. There are two large outdoor pools (one with zero access for the kiddies), two hot tubs, one heated indoor pool, a sauna and an exercise facility. A meeting room is also available. Built in 2006 the Lighthouse is one of the newest complexes in Gulf Shores.
We recently purchased our unit and this is the first year unit 506 has been reconditioned. Our balcony has comfortable seating for eight with table and chaise lounge and side chairs for your enjoyment.
Sunrises and sunsets over the Gulf are spectacular, para- sail watching is great and the dolphins are a joy to watch. The Living room-dining room and master bedroom all have huge floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass doors directly opening onto the balcony, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico.
The living room/dining room has comfortable seating for viewing the Gulf of Mexico or watching the flat screen TV. There is a queen size sleeper sofa, leather recliner and swivel chair allowing for TV or gulf viewing. The dining room table and bar have seating for eight. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality cookware, blender, toaster, coffee makers, and electric can opener. The kitchen has adequate bar utensils, ice bucket, but no liquor-sorry.
The master bedroom opens directly onto the balcony. This bedroom is equipped with a king size bed. A flat screen TV and DVD player is supplied for your enjoyment. The suite features a large bathroom with double vanities, a large walk in closet, a whirlpool tub and a separate glass enclosed shower. Hairdryers are provided in the bathrooms.
The 2nd bedroom is furnished with a Queen bed and flat screen TV/DVD player. Furniture with plenty of storage space for your belongings is provided in this and all bedrooms. A private full bathroom with dressing area is provided.
The 3rd bedroom is a Bunk room with two comfortable Bunk beds and a flat screen TV.
We also own Lighthouse unit 501 a 3 bedroom corner unit VRBO no. 241095. You might want to take a look at this unit if 506 isn't quite big enough.
The Lighthouse is located in a very desirable area. Many restaurants are in walking distance of our unit. Major chains are represented but we enjoy the local cuisine. Some of our favorites within walking distance are the famous Sea and Suds(best crab claws and oysters), Mikee's, and the Pink Pony Pub. Also try DeSoto's(great coconut shrimp) and Bahama Bobs. A short drive to the north on highway 59 is the famous Wolf Bay Lodge down county road 20 and in Orange Beach. For a truly memorable night out that includes fine dining, dancing and entertainment Nolan's is the place to go. Great steaks, whole fried flounder, Greek salads and a full menu await you. Lots of places to go, lots of things to do in our beautiful Gulf Shores. We hope you enjoy your stay and you'all come back.
Gulf Shores activities are numerous. Younger vacationers can take advantage of the zoo, miniature golf courses, Waterville USA, The Track, the ferry ride across Mobile Bay and Go Cart Tracks. Shopping at local shops is a treat and nearby Tanger Outlet Mall is an adventure as is a visit to the Wharf, both offering lots of shopping opportunities. The Wharf is a complex with many restaurants, shops and an amphitheater featuring top entertainers. Don't forget the famous Naval Aviation Museum-home of the Blue Angels in Pensacola or the Battleship Alabama moored in Mobile Bay. Golfing is world class with multiple first class courses nearby and of course the area is famous for its charter boat deep water fishing. Recently opened in the area is the fabulous 'Hummingbird Zipline' located nearby at the Gulf State Park.

Great property. Very well and tastefully furnished. Plenty of kitchen utensils. very clean and neat. Love that huge deck with bedroom access to balcony for morning coffee and privacy. Will book this unit again.
So glad you enjoyed your visit. Hope, you, can have a repeat visit soon.
Loved the unit and amenities at Lighthouse. Unit very well decorated, clean, and the kitchen was well stocked with tools to cook just about anything you desired. We will be back!
We stayed in 506 from Tuesday through Sunday and had a wonderful time. My wife and I slept in the master, with our 1 year old conveniently close in a pack-n-play just inside the master closet. Our in-laws slept in the other bedroom, with two teenage boys bunking in the bunk beds.
I think this condo is just about perfect. On the fifth floor, it is high enough to leave the blinds open at night and not worry about folks looking in, yet it is low enough to skip the elevators and use the stairs. The trash chute is literally right outside the door and very convenient, and being located between the two banks of elevators we made use of the less busy one (and the less busy walkway to the beach).
The beach is wide, the sand is white, and being in the Gulf, the waves are calm. We went in late Sept, and the beach wasn't crowded at all. Lighthouse offers umbrella and chair rentals, but we didn't opt for that and I am very glad. Those chairs are so far from the water you can't even see the waves due to the sand. We brought our own chairs and umbrella, and while it is a pain to shuttle all the gear back and forth morning and evening, this is the route I'd recommend if you're in decent physical condition.
We took the boys on an excursion to see the USS Alabama and the USS Drum over in Mobile Bay. If you do this, plan to spend at least a half day. I know my wife's favorite part of the trip was the excellent food nearby and sunning on the beach, but mine was definitely seeing 16 inch guns & 2700 lb bullets on a 90 million pound battleship. Truly an awesome sight to behold, and very cool to be able to get below decks and really check it out.
We used the grills outside lighthouse, and the grilling tools in the kitchen were very handy. The kiddie pool was awesome for our little crawler (who loves sand a little too much...), and the fitness center was well stocked and easy to access. If you're into fitness, run the stairs at least a couple times from the 1st to 17th floor (time to beat is 1:56 :)).
If you've got kids, bring a flashlight and a bucket and go out next to the waves at night and let them catch sand crabs. Those jokers are FAST, and provide a lot of squeals and some good times. Walk up to the pier at dawn or sunset - you'll be glad you did. And get the fried sampler from the Shrimp Basket - it's awesome.
Overall I think you'll have a great time!
