Modern, Beautiful home with lots of space

  • 5 of 5

Great choice for visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia. We had an awesome trip and loved coming back to this house that felt like home for a week. Great place for kids, they ran around the yard in the sun and played in the large garage in the rain. The large kitchen with modern appliances worked well for cooking large meals. Beds were comfortable. TV & Wifi all worked with no issues. Tip: This house actually has 5 bedrooms. The Upstairs pull out sofa room has a door.

Wonderful Reunion at Oak Grove

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to stay on Mt. Desert Island!

Five long-time friends and I gathered at Oak Grove to get reaquainted after having gone our separate ways after high school 50 years ago. We had a wonderful time and staying in this beautiful home was part of it.

The house was just as described and pictured on the VBRO website. We all appreciated the quality of the bedding, linens, dinnerware, and other items in the house, as well as the paper products and cleaning supplies that perhaps were left by previous renters. All of this made our stay that much more enjoyable.

The location of Oak Grove was perfect for us. We were just minutes from all the highlights of Acadia National Park (don't miss Cadillac Mountain at sunrise!) and the town of Bar Harbor with all it's tour opportunities, shops, and restaurants. The rest of the island was within an easy drive too (we had a wonderful dinner at the new Rogue Cafe in Southwest Harbor). We enjoyed a sailboat ride in Frenchman's Bay, a horse-drawn carriage tour of Bar Harbor from Wild Iris Farms (those English Shires were beautiful!), and the most adventuresome lady with us even joined a sea kayaking tour. We had such a good time!

The most difficult part of searching for a place to stay was finding a home that had the right bed configuration for six women in their sixties in need of their own space. One of our members also brought her cute little dog. This house was perfect. The six beds (one of these was a comfortable sleeper sofa in one of the three upstairs bedrooms) worked just fine for all of us. Once we figured out how to work the thermostats, we were very comfortable during the chilly October nights. The private yard was great for our furry friend, and the cul-de-sac road was perfect for safe walks.

The Knowles management company, and especially Kate Chapin, were great to work with. Kate always got right back to me when I had a special request or a question. I would certainly recommend their services to anyone looking for a place to rent in the area.

All in all it was a great first time experience with !
