This property is owned by four Whatley siblings, children of the late Janie G. Whatley, original owner of the house. We all grew up in Dothan, AL and have been beach goers all of our lives. We fell in love with the Thomas Drive area many years ago, away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip, but only a short drive from many of the beach attractions. The uncrowded beach here is a great plus for families wanting to enjoy peace and serenity but be close enough to enjoy top-notch restaurants, St. Andrews Park, marinas and amusement parks.
Angie Wiggins purchased this house in 1996
We rented in this area and others up and down the beach before we bought any property. We decided this was the spot for us.
The original house was destroyed by Hurricane Opal and we rebuilt in 1996. We updated the house in 2013 with a new metal roof, new doors, outside paint and inside furnishings.
My family and I enjoyed our stay very much. The house was fabulous minus a stink in the refrigerator. We assumed it was from the previous renter. To walk right off the porch and be on the beach was amazing! I hope we are able to visit again next year.
We celebrated our 40th anniversary with our kids and grandkids at this beautiful house. There were 12 of us and we had plenty of room. You step off the deck and you are on the beach! The large deck was perfect for watching the dolphins swim by or enjoying the beautiful sunsets. We were minutes away from grocery stores, the marina, parasailing, restaurants, and all the other activities. We would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed staying here. We had three families staying together. Children ages 15, 12, 10, 7, 5, and 4. There were activities for all of them to do. The living/dining room area was big enough that we all were able to enjoy our breakfast and dinners together. We got to sit on the deck in the mornings and watch the dolphins swim by. The shops and restaurants are all close by. We made a day trip to Shell Island which we all enjoyed. The rooms, decor and cleanliness made this feel like a home!
What an absolute beautiful place. Everything was perfect...the space, the decor, the amenities and best of all...the location!! The owners are greet to work with and everything was pristine for our arrival. The rooms are large and beautiful, the back porch is worth the visit. Close to restaurants, shopping, entertainment and other conveniences. Most of all, the beach is right out your back door. Enjoyed every day of our stay and can hardly wait to stay here again next year.
I must say first off that this house is a very nice and comfortable home, lots of room & great for a large family vacation. That being said, there are a few issues that the owners need to take care of, the master bedroom with a 19-20 inch TV, never measured it, nor did we even turn it on, could not of seen it from the bed anyway. The master bathroom's main GFI plug in not working, so you ladies will have to go elsewhere to dry your hair, lighting issues, leaky facuet at kitchen that is destroying the cabinet. Someone seriously needs to do a walk through in this house before things get much worse. Also, when spending $4000.00 plus for a weeks stay, one should not have to purchase toliet tissue, paper towels, trash bags "none at all in the house", dish detergent "very little left", dishwasher detergent. Please fix your problem with the dryer vent, it will continue to ruin a new dryer even if not repaired. If all of these issues were taken care of, we would consider returning again.
Really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house on the beach. Three families with 4 granddaughters . Plenty of room for all of us and had almost everything we needed for our vacation. The room on the back deck was perfect for storing our beach stuff. A few minor problems with lights and kitchen stuff, but we just worked through it. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again. Thank you.
