We were so happy with our stay at Salty Dawg. I think it is the most comfortable and relaxed place we have ever stayed. The house is on the street that leads directly to the boardwalk, and we timed it at 5 minutes from front door to Boardwalk. That is with drink in hand and at a leisurely pace. Our wagon easily transported our gear to the boardwalk, but several days we would drive our car to the boardwalk, unload, and my husband would take the car back to the house. We all took our showers in the outside shower under the live oaks, and the large laundry room was great for keeping up with the beach towels. The house had everything we needed for cooking except a good knife. the kitchen opens onto the smaller den and dining area which was nice for the togetherness. Also, we had never stayed in a house without a pool, and I was worried about that, but we didn't miss it at all. The little lake that is next to the boardwalk was where all of the kids wanted to play. It was shallow enough for my 6 year old to touch bottom in all places, and the kids played on a paddle board all day every day! We had our chair service set us up between the ocean and the lake so that we could turn our chairs to watch the kids wherever they were playing. Even my two year old niece splashed around in the lake with her floaties on. Another couple of tips: the Red Bar is two blocks from the house- you have to eat there. We even got take out from the Red Bar for lunch on the beach one day! And you can go in the back door of the Red Bar to get a Daquari for the beach very easily. Also, we got together with several couples for a bonfire on the beach one night. There are several chair services that will do this for you. We had the best time! Hot dogs, s'mores, pot luck dip and chip. We brought glow stick necklaces for the kids ( helped keep track of them) it was a highlight. We loved our stay at Salty Dawg and are now Grayton Beach converts. You can book with confidence!
We had a great time at the Salty Dog. We loved being so close to everything but feeling a little bit of privacy with the trees and fenced in yard. We hung hammocks in the trees and enjoyed grilling out in the yard. The house was comfortable and had a lot of character. If you like to watch TV, you might be a bit disappointed but we are not big TV fans (there are 2 old TVs). Our only other complaint was that there was not one decent knife in the kitchen (bring your own knives). Great location in beautiful Grayton Beach.
We had a great stay at Salty Dawg. Very clean and roomy. Bring toilet paper, garbage bags, foil, and tupaware. And sage... (if you know what I mean, we weren't the only ones there!)
loved the home. great classic old grayton house, close to the beach, very comfortable for my family of four. would definitely return.
Great retro style bungalow located just down the street from The Red Bar. Perfect for families or large groups.
