Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

Great stay for the Family for a week. Clean, good location.

Just need a couple outlets fixed and a better kitchen table.

Owner was attentive and helpful. Would recommend for a great North Shore vacation.

Clean and spacious home.

Loved being able to be with my family outside in the patio area and enjoying the beach across the street. Very accessible to places yet peaceful and quiet for our family. Thank you.

Quaint home with feel of being native

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay. This was our second visit to Hawaii with our first staying in Honolulu. For this trip we wanted to feel more like locals and not tourists. The home is simple, and quaint. There's a beach in front of you (across the street) and a mountain behind. The neighbors were quiet. This is the "country" so we had chickens and roosters bustling around. Because there is no central AC, we kept the windows open so you do hear the roosters start up very early from 2 of the bedrooms. There is an AC window unit in the living room making it very pleasant to watch tv. There were several beach chairs on hand and lots of towels. Loved having a full size washer and dryer available. Again, we wanted to feel like locals, where living is simple and this was the perfect place for it.

Comfortable house and SO close to the beach!!

  • 4 of 5

Our family had such a great time staying in this rental. It was clean and comfortable, and we had plenty of room to relax. The ocean was just across the street and so convenient, and we spent a lot of time there. The kitchen was nice and roomy and clean - could have used a little bigger table, but we made it work. The bedrooms were comfortable and the ceiling fans in each one helped so very much, since we happened to be there when the weather was a little bit on the hot side. The little AC unit in the front room helped to keep the front part of the house comfortable and to cool the house down at night, but another one in the back of the house would have been very helpful since the bedrooms were quite warm by evening time. We enjoyed very much being up on the north shore which is so beautiful and out of the busyness of the city. We were close to grocery stores and lots of places to eat good food. We had a great time snorkeling in Sharks Cove which was about 30 minutes away and spending a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center which was very close. Overall, we just really had a great time and I would stay there again, and also recommend it to my friends.

we loved Hale Wila

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (group of 8 and a baby) stayed at Thomas' amazing Will house from Feb 26 to Mar 2.

First off, the property itself. The house was amaxing! Clean, convenient, and very large. Every room is equipped with a ceiling fan which helped us stay cool when I got humid. The kitchen was stocked with enough plates, glasses and silverware for my entire family (and then some). Basic pots, pans and seasonings made cooking effortless. There are 2 houses on the property which i thought would have been a drag. While we were there, a family was in the front house yet we had complete privacy. Not a drag at all! Between the houses is a carport and a charcoal bbq. There is also a picnic table, which was nice for a Hawaiian evening bbq. The house has a "jungle" in the back that was absolutely beautiful. Across the street is a serine sandy beach. Calm waves, powdery sand and palm trees are literally 75 steps away. Grocery store is a very short drive or even walking distance, which was nice.

Now to address the negative comments that was previously written about this property... NO, there were no worms in the house. There was NO damp smell. YES, you are by a major highway...but anywhere you go that is in close proximity to the beach is going to be off the highway. Noise wasn't out of the ordinary from passing vehicles. YES, there are roosters...a lot of them. If you have never been to Oahu, please know that chickens and roosters are wild and will be everywhere you turn.

Thomas was always available for questions prior and during our stay. All in all, I would suggest to anyone I know that is visiting Oahu to stay at Hale Wila.

worms and roosters

  • 1 of 5

good:

close to beach. a couple minutes walk. cross the HWY 83, it's Kokololio beach park.

bad:

next to HWY, pretty noisy, AND to make it noisier, there are a bunch of hens and roosters singing around you 24/7. it's not owner's fault, but it's really really noisy.

not much supply. very basic, like bed sheets, bath towel and toilet paper. that's all you got, but you got what you paid for.

there are lots of flies because of the chickens/donkeys/horses behind the back yard.

do not go beyond the back yard. the mosquitos attack like crazy.

we did not finish our stay there. we moved out one day earlier due to the worm issue. we found this rotten smell and dozens of worms coming from the closet in master bedroom. called the manager. showed up in a couple hours and insisted it's our mistake. we usually keep our place clean, but it might be our fault. fled away ASAP since the house is not that clean at the first place.

Owner's Response: Mr. Zeng is correct as our home is located in the country. There are wild roaming roosters and hens which are all around, even at the beach. Our property is located adjacent to a forest preserve which does allow for horses and donkeys. In our wooded areas of our hills and mountains we do have mosquitos who love both our locals and visitors. These are all the things which are 100% correct. When I turned the home over to Mr. Zeng and his family it was 100% clean! As the photos show online is how he received the home. We are a budget rental as we offer very good prices for a 3 bedroom home but take pride in our 100% cleanliness! Mr. Zeng and his family came into the home on August 1st and was scheduled to leave on the 8th. At 4pm on August 7th I received a phone call from Mr. Zeng informing me of "worms" coming from the bedroom closet. I apologized to him and had one of my co-owners rush to the house as the description of my home was not good and we wanted to take care of it immediately. When my co-owner arrived at 4:18 pm Mr. Zeng and his family had already left. My co-owner went in search of the "worms" and found a single maggot in the Master Bedroom closet almost 50 feet from the kitchen. We responded IMMEDIATELY and Mr. Zeng's family was gone. Investigating the accusation I went in search of evidence and found that the Trash Mr. Zeng and his family threw out was rotten and full of maggots. I called Mr. Zeng to report of what we found, that the source of the maggots was from his food and whatever he stored in the closet was the source of the problem. He wasn't sure and blamed us saying we must have left food there? I responded to his call IMMEDIATELY and had a co-owner there in under 20 minutes. Mr. Zengs FALSE accusation is 100% WRONG. I told him I would NOT refund his last day as the problem was caused by he and his family! If any of the problem was created by my home I would have refunded his stay as requested without question! Even now Mr. Zeng cannot state that it wasn't his fault as I can as we store NO food and keep NO FOOD in the house. I hope if you are reading this response you allow me the opportunity to share our hospitality and Aloha with you! Mahalo, Thomas
