Best. Vacation. Ever.
We were looking for a Hawaiian vacation to get away from stress, deadlines, traffic, and the general gotta go, go, go of life. Thomas' house provided the perfect location to do just this.
The house was great and exactly what we needed. No ritzy over the top stuff I needed to be concerned about, but all the right things exactly where/when we need them. Beautiful, easy to sweep floors, big enough kitchen, comfy beds for everyone. Air conditioning sounds covered the rooster noises (mostly), but honestly they didn't bother us anyway. The traffic from the street didn't bother us at all, and the beach across the street was perfect to watch sunrises and have beach play days anytime we wanted. Location was perfect for us to take day trips to different parts of the island, and easy access to the North Shore for boogie boarding beaches and snorkeling. Thomas could NOT have been more accessible or nicer. Was helpful with island insights and recommendations. We are SO thankful we found Thomas and this location for our get away. We highly recommend this home for your get away!
Thank you so much for the great review. Please feel free to contact me should you ever be back in Hawaii!!!!
Mahalo Nui Loa!
We spent 5 nights at Thomas' house! This simple, no-nonsense, home was the perfect location across from the beach (with many beach toys for our use). Clean, comfy, and basically stocked it suited our needs for the most part. Close to the PCC and other North Shore attractions we found that we didn't need to venture out much. As we were there in the winter months, we didn't need the AC but found the fans in the bedrooms sufficient. Use of the washer and dryer was a huge plus, as well as the ample towels (could use some hand towels and washcloths) and iron and ironing board.
Some attention could be given to the home. The doors to bathrooms stick terribly, the front windows don't open, the kitchen table is too small to accommodate a full house (and too high for littles), the minimal cookware is due to be replaced, and the fridge is rusting and has a difficult time closing.
As way of suggestions: The bed in the back room could use a foam topper and all the pillows are in dyer need of replacement. The couch could use a through cleaning. A clothes line in the side yard would cut down on dryer usage even if its just for towels, and a gate (similar to your neighbors) would make the property prime for letting young children out of the house to chase the chickens and play in the side yard.
As for the chickens and road noise, we appreciate the earlier reviews. We came prepared with a white noise machine and slept perfectly! Thomas was a gracious host, even accommodating some of our party that had to stay longer. We had a couple of communication hiccups, but he was very prompt on answering my texts. He even let us know when one of the local monk seal was in town, as well as great followup after we left.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hale Wila, and the North Shore. For the price, and location, this property delivered.
Great stay for the Family for a week. Clean, good location.
Just need a couple outlets fixed and a better kitchen table.
Owner was attentive and helpful. Would recommend for a great North Shore vacation.
Clean and spacious home.
Loved being able to be with my family outside in the patio area and enjoying the beach across the street. Very accessible to places yet peaceful and quiet for our family. Thank you.
I enjoyed having your family as you made it simple and kept the house spotless. I appreciated having you and hope you know I would have you and your family back in a second.
Quaint home with feel of being native
We loved our stay. This was our second visit to Hawaii with our first staying in Honolulu. For this trip we wanted to feel more like locals and not tourists. The home is simple, and quaint. There's a beach in front of you (across the street) and a mountain behind. The neighbors were quiet. This is the "country" so we had chickens and roosters bustling around. Because there is no central AC, we kept the windows open so you do hear the roosters start up very early from 2 of the bedrooms. There is an AC window unit in the living room making it very pleasant to watch tv. There were several beach chairs on hand and lots of towels. Loved having a full size washer and dryer available. Again, we wanted to feel like locals, where living is simple and this was the perfect place for it.
Comfortable house and SO close to the beach!!
Our family had such a great time staying in this rental. It was clean and comfortable, and we had plenty of room to relax. The ocean was just across the street and so convenient, and we spent a lot of time there. The kitchen was nice and roomy and clean - could have used a little bigger table, but we made it work. The bedrooms were comfortable and the ceiling fans in each one helped so very much, since we happened to be there when the weather was a little bit on the hot side. The little AC unit in the front room helped to keep the front part of the house comfortable and to cool the house down at night, but another one in the back of the house would have been very helpful since the bedrooms were quite warm by evening time. We enjoyed very much being up on the north shore which is so beautiful and out of the busyness of the city. We were close to grocery stores and lots of places to eat good food. We had a great time snorkeling in Sharks Cove which was about 30 minutes away and spending a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center which was very close. Overall, we just really had a great time and I would stay there again, and also recommend it to my friends.
Nestled at the base of the Ko'olau mountains this property is located in a central area of the North Shore providing you the convenience of nearby grocery stores and local eateries while enjoying the Relaxing Country Living.
The property is located 2 minutes to the World Famous Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC). PCC prides itself in the preservation of Polynesian Cultures and displays traditional living, dance and songs from Polynesia. The PCC is a must see for all who visit the islands as it is an exciting, upbeat and memorable experience for all who attend.
