A Superior Cottage is the perfect place for your next vacation. The cottage is located on 300’ of private golden sand beach on Big Traverse Bay, Lake Superior. An ideal spot for a relaxing, peaceful vacation surrounded by nature set in a mature pine forest on the best beach in the Keweenaw.
Wake up to beautiful sunrises over panoramic views of Lake Superior and the Keweenaw mountains from your window. The sound of the waves gently breaking on the beach and breeze in the pines completes your morning. Then head to the beach to enjoy the day. A great beach for children of all ages the soft sand is over 100’ deep and gently meets the shore with shallow clear sparkling water to swim and play in.
In the afternoon take a walk down the beach to the Sandstone bluff and watch for the Bald Eagles that nest on the point. If you enjoy boating and water sports there is a launch and harbor just over a mile down the beach, and 2 miles away is an inland lake full of Northern Pike and Walleye for the angler in your group. We also provide a sea kayak to explore the shoreline of this beach paradise.
As the sunsets through the pines enjoy a campfire on the beach and watch the stars come out. The Keweenaw night sky is dark and clear with amazing stargazing and the occasional Northern Light show. Finally, relax and enjoy an authentic wood burning sauna and a midnight dip into Superior.

Owner info

Year Purchased: 2003

About the owner: Our family has vacationed on Big Traverse for over 30 years. When a beachfront property finally became available, 10 years ago, we jumped at the opportunity. We live and work in Rochester MI but love this peaceful private corner of the Keweenaw. While attending Northern Michigan University and Michigan Technological University we fell in love with each other and the area. After several years of hosting friends and family we decided to make this bit of paradise available to others. We hope you will love it too.

Why the Owner Chose Torch Lake Township, MI, USA:
We love the Keweenaw and Copper Country, long walks on the beach, hiking in the Keweenaw, fishing in Rice Lake, kayaking around Louis Point to see bald eagles. The drive along Lake Superior shoreline to Copper Harbor and back through Eagle River is amazing, especially in the fall when the Keweenaw puts on a show. There are great restaurants in Houghton, Hancock and Historic Calumet. There is a lively arts community hidden away nearby. Michigan Tech brings in arts and music, Pine Mountain Music Festival, and the Calumet Theatre is a spectacular venue for live music.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The cottage has the most private sandy beach on Big Traverse at 300'. Relax and enjoy the view of the Keweenaw and Huron Mountains as the waves gently roll onto the beach. The sunrises over the Big Lake are really spectacular from the living room, if you want to get up that early:) We provide a kayak to explore the bay and enjoy the lake. The cedar sauna is a great way to melt away stress. After your sauna run and dive into Lake Superior to cool off.
