The location of the property is ideal for experiencing real Mexico and not just a tourist resort. It is located in a very secure upper-class area of Mazatlan. It is a 10 minute walk to the Plaza Machado in the Historic District and a 10 minute walk to the Central Market and Cathedral. If you want to go to the resort area (Golden Zone), you can catch a Pulmonia or taxi in a 1 minute walk from the house.
Property manager will arrange day trips and other activities at no cost to you. She can arrange the trips so you are picked up at the house. She can arrange to have shopping, cooking and cleaning done for you during your stay.
Telephone calls to the US and Canada are free as is the wireless internet. There is also a local Mexico phone. Use your laptop on our big screen TV to stream movies or watch our selection of DVD's.
Owners Terry and Janis Kronlund went to Mazatlan and fell in love with it the very first time and started looking for a home there. We eventually plan on doing the Snowbird thing with this home, but aren't quite ready to retire yet. We live in beautiful Washington state and own our own business. This is not just a vacation rental but our home. We have remodeled our home and are continually working on decorating it and adding more furniture and details.
Janis Kronlund purchased this house in 2007
We purchased this home as a vacation home. We wanted to be in 'real Mexico', and not in a resort tourist area. We originally were looking for a small house, but when we came across this beautiful home we just couldn't pass it up. The beautiful architecture and spaciousness of it is amazing. We feel very safe in our 'compound' relaxing around the tiled pool and hanging in our hammocks. Turn the lights on at night around the pool and it's very romantic. Our neighborhood feels very safe, and when people ask us if we are afraid to go to Mexico we tell them an emphatic NO. Feeling safe and walking our streets to the local attractions has been one of the biggest benefits to our neighborhood. Experience the beauty of Mazatlan and get exercise by climbing the Lighthouse which is only a short walk away. Or walk the 'Malecon' along the ocean and enjoy breakfast or dinner at the many restaurants.
Our home is absolutely gorgeous with it's marble floors, columns, and unique woodwork and crown molding throughout the house. It's been fully remodeled to US standards. Has a huge kitchen, and huge backyard and poo with a covered sitting area with shadel. The size of entryway takes your breath away. Upstairs all the bedrooms (but one) have their own private bathroom and shower as well as built in walk in closets. A 'den' has two day beds, and exercise equipment.
We have had the pleasure of staying at this house two times! It is located near Stone Island which is our favorite place to spend a day. But, really, no need to even leave the house! It is it's own resort! We go to rest and relax and enjoy peace, quiet, the sun and the pool! We got all that and more right at the house! There is a corner store just a few blocks away. mmmm fresh sweet pastries! You really get the feel of old Mazatlan as well as only being a short pulmanea ride away to the square and night life! Highly recommend this place!
I stayed at this house for a couple vacations now and it's a perfect place to go if you want to relax, enjoy a hammock and your book then go take a dip. It's a beautiful house, good location to walk to good eats and a couple spots to get food for cooking yourself. Really easy to catch a plumonia (golf cart taxi) and go up into the touristy spots! Definitely going to go back :) Thanks Janis and Terry for sharing your home!
We loved this house we spent most of our time relaxing by the pool and watching Netflix. The house was very spacious and beautiful all amenities of home. We ate out alot papa locos a local spot is our favorite, a must try. We are allready talking about another vacation here. Thanks for sharing your home.
We took a much needed vacation from a brutal northern Minnesota winter. We were looking for a house that had enough amenities so we would not have to go out if we didn't want to. We were delighted with the pool and patio in the back. We spent most of our time in the sun and pool, lounging around and reading. All of our favorite hangouts were within walking distance, including Puerto Viejo, the Malecon, the Mercado and the Plaza Machado. There was a well stocked tienda right around the corner. The only problem we had was that our vacation was too short! We definitely plan to come back here again. Thanks Janis and Terry for sharing your beautiful home with us!
Our family were fortunate to stay in this beautiful home for the last two weeks of February. Our group consisted of my senior parents and uncle, my husband, myself, our adult son and 11 year old daughter.
We were astonished with the beauty and space , We spent several days just enjoying the yard and pool and felt content to just rest and soak up the sun and atmosphere. We were thrilled that we were within walking distance to catch the ferry across to Stone Island which is a paradise of silky golden beaches. (breathtaking)
As it was our first visit to Mazatlan we were unsure of what to expect. We were in love the first day and it was very hard to leave. We met the most gracious and amazing people. We were impressed with how easy it was to use public transportation and everyone went the extra mile to make us feel welcome.
The owners are a pleasure to deal with and the extra little touches made this a holiday we will never forget.
I will highly recommend this property to anyone planning a trip to Mazatlan and I will certainly rent this Casa again if it is available. It is incredible value and sure to please any groups or couples.
Thank-you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
If you'd prefer organic coffee at Looney Beans to a mocha frapp at Starbucks; fresh prawns from the "shrimp ladies" to a frozen pizza from Sam's Club; a Vivaldi concert to a salsa contest; a stroll along the Malecon to a night at the Hard Rock Cafe, then a stay at this beautiful home so close to Mazatlan's Old Town is the ideal vacation spot for you!
Yes, this house is grand; yes, you could get lost in the maze of bedrooms, but the biggest plus of this lovely, spacious home is its proximity to Centro Historico: just a 10-minute walk up Carnaval Street to fabulous restaurants, the local market (Mercado), and the artists' galleries; to the beautiful Plaza Machado for an evening of fine-dining and people-watching; and to the exquisite Angela Peralto Theatre for classical-music performances that are second-to-none.
Far from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Zone, the house is a 5-minute walk to the ferry to Stone Island, a 17K stretch of white sand and pristine beaches, where you can swim in the warm waters of the bay, bargain with the vendors, watch the dolphins swimming by, and enjoy omelets, flan, and, of course, muchas ballenas! Back home in the evening, you can sit by the pool, drink in hand, and watch the stars sparkle in the night sky.
The house is located on a street of lovely homes and friendly neighbours (and yes, their early-rising dogs!) Just around the corner is a little tienda (convenience store) where you can purchase a delicious torta before heading to the Malecon for your morning jog or a hike to the El Faro lighthouse. Visit the Aquarium, the Farmers' Organic Market, and El Recreo (for foreign/quirky films); take in the First Friday Art Walk, or a Jungle Tour to Stone Island. Everything is within easy access!
Despite a few "Mexican Surprises" during the first week (issues with the hot water tank, for example), the remainder of the visit went seamlessly. We had a wonderful stay in the beautiful Casa Kronlund and would love to return to Mazatlan some day!
We have a private swimming pool and huge backyard. One and a half blocks from Marina, water taxi to Stone Island/Beach and restaurants. Short walk to ocean beaches, Centro historico, Mazatlan market and Cathedral. Short walk to Plazuela Machado and wonderful restaurants. Easy access to taxi's and Mazatlan's famous Pulmonia taxi's. Located in a beautiful, tree lined, safe, upper middle class neighborhood in 'real' Mexico.
