Second story cabin with 3 bedrooms, livingroom, dinning room, 2 full baths, and outside deck. My daughter-in-law named it the Tree House because of it's elivation overlooking the creek. The first floor is my storage barn so you won't have to worry about sharing the property with others during your stay. The Tree House sits on 6.8 acres about 1 mile outside of Friendsville Maryland. There is a market and liquor store in town that will have everything you'll need for your stay.
I bought this property in 2000 as part of our retirement plan. The 2nd floor cabin was a place for us to live while building my home on a separate property. Now I'm offering it to others in hopes that others will enjoy it as much as I do.
Gordon Kauffman purchased this cabin in 2000
The Tree House offers the best of both worlds. It's a peaceful retreat nestled in the mountains along Bear Creek and the same time sits in the middle of a long list of things to see and do. Wineries, resorts, restaurants, white water trips, skiing, boating, are only a few of the nearby attractions. Each season brings unique events. Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter – There’s always something to do. (but only if you want to)
Bear Creek is a well-known fishing spot but it has so much more to offer. Staying on Bear Creek and sharing it with friends and family will give you an experience you won't soon forget. It could change your life.
The pictures do not do justice. The Tree house was beautiful and spacious with all of the accommodations you would want for a weekend getaway. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the solitude and beauty of the property as well as the peaceful sound of the creek. I highly recommend this property for a group or couples retreat.
Lovely location on the creek which is great for wading, exploring and providing a wonderful soundtrack to this peaceful getaway. clean, comfortable and good Wifi. Friendsville is weak in terms of restaurants but there are some good options within 15 minutes, including in Accident, Confluence and Grantsville. Great rafting trips from Ohiopyle and Falling Water is not to be missed!
The property is beautiful and the house is great. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality vacation house in the woods.
The Tree House was a great place for a weekend getaway. It was hidden off the road and proved a challenge to find, but once discovered it provided a wonderful place for our group of 10 friends for a long weekend. With all the amenities of a house but the rustic feel of a cabin it was the perfect hybrid for the outdoorsy people who don't want to give up the comforts of modern living. We enjoyed hanging out in the spacious living room and cooking for a large group in the open kitchen/dining area. The cabin was very clean and the fire pit was perfect for campfires. The location near Ohiopyle provided lots of outdoor adventures - whitewater rafting was a short drive away and a great afternoon adventure. We hope to come back soon to explore the area further, take on more challenging rapids, and tour the two famous Frank Lloyd Wright houses in the area. Thanks for the great stay!
The place was very nice and the creek setting around the cabin was beautiful. A wonderful place to stay!
Our family loved this cabin! We didn't get to spend as much time just being there as we would have liked because we actually came to the area for a wedding. The kitchen is very well supplied to cook nice meals and the house very clean. We want to be back sometime with more time to spend.
FISHING: The Tree House sits on 6 acres and includes approximately one mile of Bear Creek shore line.(a stocked trout stream). People come from all over Maryland and the surrounding states to fish this creek.
***WHITE WATER RAFTING: The town of Friendsville is about one mile down the road. If you kyack, canoe, or raft the white water you already know that Friendsville is the 'take out' for the Upper Youghiogheny; one of the most sought after white water experiences in the world. The Yough offers three different trips depending on your experience and abilities. There are river guide companies right in town or let me know if you are interested and I'll put you in touch with the right paople.
***SKIING: Wisp resort is nine miles up the mountain and offers some of the best snow skiing in Maryland. Over the past few years they have added many other non-winter activities.
***LAKE: Wisp Resort overlooks Deep Creek Lake. A 3900 acre lake with 69 miles of shoreline, offering boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, restaurants and many other activities.
***HUNTING: Im not much of a hunter but we have seasons for White Tale Deer, Black Bear, Turkey and plenty of State land to hunt them on.
*** If you're like me, you'll probably want to visit some, or all of the sourrounding activities but the best part of the day will be coming home to your own little slice of heaven. Sitting by the fire with family and friends, or on the deck overlooking the creek gives time to think and dream. It's beautiful to look at but you'll be amazed at the way it makes you feel. You'll see what I mean when you get here.
