About Alyssia Hokanson

Troy and Alyssia had been looking at vacation property for quite a few years. When we saw this property, we like the house and saw potential for it working for our family as a getaway......and the price was right.

Alyssia Hokanson purchased this cabin in 2004

What makes this cabin unique

This lake is supplied by Clam River, which is a nice 5 mile ride by boat down to the dam. You can also go upstream but it takes a little more searching to find the river and it is pretty shallow.

Owner's Response: I am sorry that the pesky little critter had to bother your vacation time.  We do our best at keeping the place clean and mowed to prevent this.  We have only had this happen one other time in the twelve years we have owned this property.  We try to make our house an enjoyable and pleasant place to stay with lots of fun things to do.

Clean, good size and meets needs.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was clean and met all of our needs! It has all the ammenities you need and our whole family was mostly satisfied! We would definitely stay again, but would come equipped with movies, etc for night time when bugs are bad or it rains. Although the cabin has an amazing tv, it has only 3 channels and all are Wisconsin public channels. The cabin has a DVD/Vhs player and bluray but the movie selection is not desirable as most are vhs and pretty dated. A minor thing, but nice to know ahead of time so you can go prepared!

The yard is big and mostly flat so even though you are close to the highway, it doesn't feel like it when you are out enjoying the back yard. There is not a great swimming area(Weedy and not much of a beach), but that didn't stop my kids...they made the most of it! Lucky for us we spent the majority of our time at a family cabin on lower clam for most of our swimming needs. Lower clam is very shallow in general so the best swimming can be found in the middle of the lake anyway for the die hard swimmers!

The bedrooms were spacious and the bed I slept in (upstairs King) was comfortable. The second bedroom upstairs was large enough for the queen bed plus 2 pack n plays. The downstairs bedrooms were good sized as well. Bring slippers the concrete in the basement makes it chilly on your feet!

The cabin is a little hard to get in and out of because of its location on the busy road and small driveway, but that's pretty minor. Being on the busy road means it's close to many things for convenience (silver lining)!

Overall a good stay and the owners are pretty responsive and easy to work with. Most importantly, it was clean! Like I said, we would definitely stay again!

great north woods retreat

  • 4 of 5

Perfect north woods retreat in a wonderful little town!! Caught huge catfish and saw some gorgeous wildlife. House had every last thing you could need or want. Kids enjoyed table tennis on rainy days and fishing in the sun. Owners were easy to reach and the house was very clean. Comfy beds and plenty of space. We loved it so much we wished we could've stayed longer! We will absolutely be back!!!

Wonderful Cabin Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Very spacious cabin with plenty of room for kids to play and adults to visit. Location - great to be right on the lake as well as so near the boat landing and Big Mike's for bait and last minute necessities. While it is just off the highway, this was no problem for us. Cabin is also well stocked making for less packing and easy meal prep, etc. The owners were great to deal with as well!

Owner's Response: Thank you. We are glad you enjoyed your time at our place. We try to take care of as many details as we can so you can enjoy your time at our lake home and not have to worry about the packing detail. We like the idea of your packing list being - food, clothes and toiletries.

Pleasantly Suprised

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was roomy and had a beautiful view of the lake. We were outside much of the time fishing or swimming as the lake is so nice also. There were plenty of water toys and a nice fire pit area complete with fire wood. All we needed to bring were our personal items and food. There is even a washer and dryer. The cabin in centrally located and is close to a convenience store that carries reasonably priced bait, boat fuel, milk, beer, chips and all kinds of things. There are 2 restaurant/bars close also. We had no need to go into the town of Siren. There is a boat landing close to the cabin which was handy as we brought our own pontoon. This was a very easy weekend away for our family and we would recommend this cabin to family and friends!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. It seems that people are more apt to respond when people have a problem instead of when it goes well. It was nice talking with you. It means a lot to us that your vacation went well.
