This property is truly exceptional: within walking distance to the village, yet located on a secluded point that offers spectacular views of the lake. It has a master bedroom complete with spa shower, a guest room, a kids room with bunk beds, and an additional bedroom suite upstairs. The top floor consists of a large kitchen family room, complete with a guitar shaped kitchen island. You are surrounded by windows that provide gorgeous lake views while you are cooking, relaxing on the couch, or just reading a book. There is an outdoor patio with a charcoal grill and smoker. Best of all, the house is connected to a boathouse roof deck, which offers unparalleled views of the lake.
I grew up in Skaneateles, and spend part of my summers there. I currently live in Brookline, MA, where I'm a public school teacher in Brookline Public Schools.
Mark Allyn purchased this house in 2005
This house was built in 2008 to be close to our families who live in the area. The house has a very modern, Asian feel, and is designed to welcome visitors to a warm, inviting home just steps from the lake.
I bought this property because there was no other property in the village located so close to the water. There is nothing better than falling asleep to the sound of waves located twenty feet from your bed!
We rented this exquisite home for a week in late September. Every feature is a piece of art -- the custom staircase, footbridge to boathouse deck, Skaneateles Lake shaped sink, guitar inspired island -- the attention to detail is amazing and pictures do not do it justice, gorgeous! With the exception of the bathrooms, every room has a spectacular view overlooking Lake Skaneateles. The open floor plan was perfect, featuring a panoramic view of the lake as well as a well equipped kitchen -- two refrigerators -- complete with cookware and top of the line appliances. We spent many of our evenings enjoying the boathouse deck which was furnished with plenty of chairs and lounges for all of us. The house is conveniently located -- just a quick drive to charming downtown Skaneateles, with it's many restaurants and quaint shops to explore.
Our party consisted of three couples for which there was plenty of room -- and then some. There is no doubt that when we return to Skaneateles this is where we'll want to stay. The owners were wonderful to work with -- both friendly and helpful -- thank you for sharing your beautiful home for a fantastic trip!
We have been to luxury vacation rentals all over the country. This one tops them all. Each bedroom, the living room, and kitchen have windows opening up to the lake, giving a superb view that changes as the sun moves (you could stay inside all day and just watch the changing view!). They've spared no expense in making this feel like home: the kitchen is stocked with all the items you will need for baking, cooking, and dining; the house is spotless; appliances are new and in great condition. The architecture is very intentional - they've used the space incredibly well. It is warm and easy to live in.
1.6 miles from town and backing up to the lake, the location is ideal. There are great shops and dining options within a 5 minute drive.
We stayed with 3 adult couples and had plenty of space. However, 1-2 families could stay with children. There are plenty of toys and equipment for children (including a built-in gate at the top of the steps that is stored in the wall when not in use). They've thought of everything.
The owners were wonderful to work with.
We HIGHLY recommend this property! Enjoy!
This vacation property is truly one of a kind, located within the village of Skaneateles. The house was built in 2008, mere feet from the water, connecting to a large roof deck above a boathouse. Look out the windows and see the tranquil beauty and awe of Skaneatles lake, one of the cleanest fresh water lakes in the country. Or, take a short road trip to tour dozens of wineries located throughout the Finger Lakes area.
