Owner was super helpful and a fantastic location.
The cabin was easy to find with ample parking seeing as we had 6 vehicles. The owner isn't normally on site but was staying in the basement for that week due to some extenuating circumstance. He assured that sound wouldn't be an issue but as the guests, we still felt like we had to try and be quiet but it was okay. We were able to use the fire pit, grill, and dock several times and it was great! We rented a pontoon and the dock is in a great spot to come and go as needed. Our only frustrations were that upon arrival, there was a binder of info. Most of it very helpful except there was no info in it about how to access the wifi or the thermostat. This only mattered because one thing we looked for when choosing a cabin to rent, was if they had wifi we could use and we weren't able to. Also, it was about 95 degrees outside for 2 or 3 days and we wanted to sleep in a cool home but the thermostat was set at 74 or 75 which was much warmer than we wanted it. Also, i paid a $75 cleaning fee as part of my total bill yet in the binder, it lays out these in depth instructions as how to clean the cabin. We were asked to wash and dry all linens we used, sweep and mop floors, clean counters, toilets etc, this seemed odd because I wasnt sure what the $75 cleaning fee was for if we were supposed to do the cleaning. Overall, I'd stay here again as long as I had access to the wi fi and could change or control the thermostat. It was a great home and I recommend it to others in bigger groups or those that like a big home.
Nice house and view but needs some upkeep done
We spent three nights there with family from TX and Colorado, The house itself was nice, spacious living room and loved the decorations. The dining room was very nice which I was wondering about since not in a picture. Bathrooms were nice and bedrooms were okay, but one bed had used sheets on it that hadn't been changed. The dishwasher leaked so we couldn't use it and couldn't get the hot tub to work after spent about an hour filling it. The outdoor grill was so rusty and dirty there was no way we would consider using it and the indoor fireplace was full of ashes although there were written notes about how we had to empty them if we used it. The outdoor decks really needed a good cleaning or at least sweeping and the outdoor furniture needed to be cleaned up. The kitchen was okay--apliances nice except for dishwasher--had a lot of equipment, but didn't find a can opener or a cake pan..Paddleboat had a broken rudder which I guess was a problem two years ago--I should of paid better attention to past reviews. We needed to wash all our bedding and towels before we left the last morning--which most places I have stayed before you simply put them together in a pile. There seemed to be a lot of extra fees like for property insurance , cleaning fee, garbage, and other fees. Charged for additional guest sleeps 10, but if over 8 is extra, and a big service fee so advertised for a nightly price, but ending up costing us $115 more a night by the time all the fees added in. We didn't use the lake at all (there was a lot of rain and dock actually partially under water the last morning) but no sandy shore like I had seen in one picture. The towels were nice and felt like the house was pretty clean, but felt we left it cleaner than when we got there. We were disappointed in what it cost us to stay there--it was required to book 3 nights when we booked it, but see it is now down to 2. That would of helped the price. Also had to cancel 60 days ahead to get your money refunded or 30 to get 1/2 back--I booked it in March for June but was not given the address until the first week in June--way past anytime I could of canceled it. but it was immediately billed to my credit card. We would not use this company again in the future.
Quiet and cozy feel with lots of space
Good cozy location. There were just two of us, and I would imagine it would be better for a larger group, but we still had a great time with such a big place all to ourselves!
Tons of Space!!!
We've seen it many times on the site but never imagined it to be so big! We had our family Christmas there. Our overnighters exceeded the 12 person occupancy limit, so the owner offered us an opportunity to rent the lower level as well! Extra bedrooms AND another kitchen! Best Christmas EVER! We had so much fun. We will definitely be coming back here!
The Lake is very nice
Easy to find the house. We did a lot of swimming, fishing off the dock, & rented a pontoon, & fishing boat from neighboring resort. Says there's wave runners available but they weren't, so that was disappointing. The house was nice but there's a lot that was broken/not working. Paddle boat covered in bees & broken too. Swimming dock stuck on land. We had fires outside but we brought the wood. We did relax & played games. Weather was fantastic beside a few storms at night.
Thank you for staying at our place. We apologize about any misunderstanding on the waverunners, they are supplied (noted in listing/rental info) by a 3rd party and need to be rented from them. We were not informed someone had broken our paddleboat!! Bee's are in rural areas like this but not sure why they would be on our paddleboat! We do apologize for the broken boat and will repair!! I will also get more notices posted in our information.
House on Sand Lake, Moose Lake, MN
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean, and accommodated our party very well. The kitchen was great, the beds were adequate. We were close to the grocery store and the lake was beautiful! We had to call once during the two weeks because of a power outage that caused air to collect in the water pipes and so there was a howling pipe that we couldn't reach. The repairman came early the next morning and we were good to go. No further problems with the property. I would make one suggestion and that is to replace the hideabed couch in the living room. That is like sleeping on the gravel road. I would recommend, and have recommended, Home Away to our friends. We were well cared for.
