We were very happy with our stay. The cabin is exactly as described. Everything was clean and in working order. The drive is a very easy 15 straight shot into town. Beautiful area.
Thank you for the 5 star review! So glad that you found everything clean and in good working order. We look forward to you return!
Another great stay!
Another relaxing stay at Lindsey Mill. This is our favorite and first choice for a cabin for two.
We love it.
Perfect location and surroundings
And we love you too!! Come back soon!
Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin, the cabin was just as pictured but better. We loved the sound of the water at night. Only a few minutes from downtown loved the flat driveway and all the outside room.
Thank you Debbie! Glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope you will think of us again for your next visit! Laurie
Smoky Cabin in the Smokies
If you aren’t familiar with the Gatlinburg area, know that you’ll be hard-pressed to find better accommodations for your fur babies. Most cabins are literally dug into the mountain sides there and, as a consequence, have no space for even a potty break. Lindsey mill has plenty of off-leash/fetch room and is right next to golf course walkways.
Is it private? More or less. We’d call it “quiet” not “secluded.” It’s situated within clear eyesight of a large cabin, the golf course, and the highway is visible through the trees. We had people drive behind the cabin once, hanging out the window taking video—which was weird. We also saw a fair amount of traffic since the cabin is at the entrance to the community.
No cobwebs for our stay. Surfaces were clean and the cabin was tidy. There’s also a wonderful amount of space. The carpet could use a deep clean or replacement. It was really dirty with hair etc. The bathroom looked super dated but had no indication of previous guests—which was greatly appreciated. The shower rack and shower head could be replaced due to rust. I think the smell that one reviewer mentioned might just be the smell of well water—which the cabin runs on.
The notes around the cabin aren’t very welcoming: they’ll charge if you steal their towels, don’t take the hangers, $10 charge if you forget something, etc.
Our first couple nights both my husband and I had headaches from the smell. It wasn’t like an old cabin—more like an old stinky trailer. Then, after a few uses of the fireplace, the house smelled smoky like heating with a wood stove.
After we aired things out, the smell was better days 4-7. But, then the heat broke and we stayed up all night tending a fire in a 40* house. Lol
Here’s why we gave 4 stars instead of 2: I was nervous to call with a complaint after seeing angry owner responses to reviews on HomeAway. But when I called Miss Tammi about the temp problem at 6am, she was there within two hours with two space heaters. She kept me up to date on when the heating repair would show up. She also showed genuine concern for us, our dog, and our time and was easy to talk to. We really appreciated the quick response and pleasant way in which she handled things.
Overall, we mention the negatives so you have a realistic view of the cabin, but we have nice memories of sitting by the fire, learning how to play backgammon, cooking good food, and walking our dog down by the stream. Fish weren’t biting. Hike to Ramsey Falls=great!
Thank you for the kind words and your critique. We are sorry your stay was not fantastic. We do want to clarify that the cabin is on city water. Not well water. And no where does it state that we charge for missing towels. We will charge you to return any items you left behind but that is a realistic cost that most would pass on to you.
The entire area was hit hard with the cold spell and it was challenging for all of our rental cabins. Tammi is always quick to the rescue! We will be replacing the carpet this spring and have purchased a new sofa and love seat which will be delivered soon.
Love location and feel of old mill but... it was a bit "tired".
Was 10 miles from downtown Gatlinburg. Cute cabin.
Had a few hiccups but nothing vacation-ruining.
Located 15 minutes to downtown, 5 miles to the arts and crafts community and 4 miles to the Greenbrier entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
