Guestbook comments from the manager

This place was just about perfect for my family reunion. There was places for everyone to either hide or meet, depending on who was there. The hot tub was fun for the kiddos and nice for the adults after the kids were in bed!!! So relaxing!! Loved having so many bathrooms. Place was tidy, but felt comfortable to me. I did have some issues with the lock box, but the contact person was readily available to help me figure it out.

Great place for a large group to stay. Located five miles from Tillamook and near the ocean.

  • 4 of 5

We had a delightful time with family in this house about a half mile from the ocean. The spacious sitting area, 2 bedrooms, and 2 full baths on the first floor, and a kitchen, half bath, and sitting area on each separate second level, gave a very flexible layout for hanging out with a large group. The house was clean and adequately equipped. It was hard to find because of an incorrect number listed on Whiskey Creek Road; the correct number to look for is 2585 (not 2858).

Filthy and unsafe

  • 1 of 5

If I hadn't drove six hours and it wasn't labor day weekend with no other available rentals I would not have stayed here. The price for this is hardly any different than some of the waterfront homes that are nice - this is ridiculous. I've stayed at several VRBO's for years and never had an experience like this.

Here is a list of disappointments- and frankly the house should never be rented until some of these are corrected. Guessing that is why they don't allow comments on their webiste OSRentals.com?

- Bathroom on right side has a leaking toilet and sink. Both had water turned off and we were not informed of this prior to renting. Completely unuseable

- the right side has a broken lock on the slider in the main bedroom - unsafe

- the left side the kitchen doesn't drain - just fills with disgusting water. Informed them and it wasn't fixed.

- the cable does not work on the right side, informed them and nothing

- the floors are dirty in the whole house, my bedroom carpet had obvious food crumbs and large paper trash around on the floor

- the blankets in the bedroom closet were filthy with brown crusty stuff on them and they were on the floor, I had to wash the sheets on five beds before using them.

- there is a dirty kleenex in the basket of my bakers rack for my kitchen

- there is no dishwashing detergent on one side, burnt out light bulbs around the house

- the upstairs has huge windows, which is the main living area, really warm with the sun, and no screens-very unsafe and lots of bugs

- the furniture is dirty

- the house is available for 14 people in two units with four bathrooms and we have four rolls of toilet paper?

- trash all over the yard where the fire pit is

- the house phone rings constantly, even at 7:30 am - and it's the cable company calling for collections

I don't expect to have to buy my own dishwashing machine detergent and toilet paper. This is gloried camping.

I have young children staying with me, and we have two families. It grosses me out having my kids touch half the stuff here. Reminds me of places I stayed when I was in college.

Family getaway

  • 3 of 5

The address in the app is wrong so it took forever to find the house but the house is great with lots of room and beds for everybody. The house was kind of dirty especially windows sills. Way too many bugs the screens need to be repaired and New Screens installed. There was not enough toilet paper for 13 people for three days so we bought some. Fans need to be installed in most of the rooms. The outdoor grills need to be cleaned and a grate is needed for the fire pit and charcoal and wood needs to be provided. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Enjoyable Stay for Group of 8

  • 4 of 5

For a larger group, this is a great house. We had 8 but could have comfortably fit 12. While the set-up seemed strange at first (bedrooms on bottom level, kitchens/living areas on top) it worked perfect as everyone had their own space to move around without feeling cramped. Having a group sitting area in the center that opened up to the deck was perfect. We didn't have our dogs with us but this would be a good house for them - however, there are no fences so if your dogs don't stay put I'd leave them at home.

THE GOOD: The location is perfect, minutes away from a GREAT restaurant (The Schooner), Cape Mears, Cape Lookout, Tillamook, etc. The setting is beautiful and really feels secluded (there is one neighbor below the property and he did run his lawn mower first thing Sunday morning but other than that, we never heard them). Plenty of parking, fire pit, charcoal grill, covered hot tub, etc. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were all a nice size. The water pressure in the showers were good and there was plenty of hot water for our group. The kitchens, while not amazing, had everything we needed to cook and enjoy our time there. (Watch the temperature on the stove on the right side, it burned a few things). There were games and books and even some old movies to watch. Once we cleaned the hot tub it was great and stayed hot which is nice!

THE BAD: As the other reviews stated, the cleanliness was not to our liking. The garbage cans outside were overflowing (we had nowhere to put our garbage at the end of our stay), the hot tub was milky and had dirt/sand from previous users, there was trash such as a tooth-picker, beer bottles, q-tip and other items on the deck when we arrived. I'm not sure what company does their cleaning but I definitely would look for another one. Various outlets didn't work and light bulbs were burned out but there were replacements on hand. The dryer took FOREVER so definitely do your laundry early so you don't get charged for it.

Overall, we had a great trip and would stay here again, which says something about the property. I just hope they are willing to either lower their cleaning fee or change companies.

netarts vacation

  • 4 of 5

As the previous review, I agree that it is showing it's age and lack of TLC. We were there four nights. The lawn was in bad need of mowing and was the last night we were there. We left it a lot cleaner than it was, complete with laundry and vacuuming. It is large enough to accommodate a large group and the setting and parking are wonderful. It is very difficult to find and never did find the street sign. Accessing the internet site is not senior friendly. We oldsters do not have smart phones .

Nice place with LOTS of potential

  • 3 of 5

Overall a very nice place that is showing its age. The property is nice but needs a lot of TLC. The setting is perfect! Quiet, beautiful and close to everything you need. However, the cleaning fee is a joke...the place was dirty all over and I was expected to do the unit's laundry (towels) before I left. I didn't but would have had the place been immaculate, which it was not even close. I am picky about my kitchen since I prep my food there, and both kitchens in this rental were dirty due to no attention to detail. I like it but will only rent it again if the cleanliness issues are addressed.
