Weekend to short
Loved this property, but unfortunately we weren't able to explore the park like grounds due to a short weekend , from what we were able to see from the back porch looked very nice . if you like Victorian style houses this is a must see and if 1 is able to stay longer than 2 days I Highly recommend this property for a family stay
It seems a shame because YOUR weekend was too short you only give the property four stars instead of the usual five the property deserves and usually receives.
A remarkable restoration with modern amenities
It is hard to describe this amazing property. We come from the Detroit area where The Henry Ford presents restored buildings in all their glory. The restoration of the Zanone house is consistent with work I have seen at Greenfield Village. The fit and finish is nothing short of spectacular. I spent time simply looking at the different wallpaper. The parquet floors are works of art. Yet, the kitchen and bath are modern. The lighting and heating work perfectly. The laundry facilities are in a separate room off the kitchen which functions as a great place to change out of dirty shoes. The Internet is fast. The building and surroundings are secure.
Ron is a gracious and kind host. The home is part of a compound which includes the main house up the street and several acres of yard and woods (in the middle of Eureka!). Ron encouraged us to stroll the grounds which include free-range chickens, a koi pond, bridges and gardens. There is quite a collection of redwoods, one of which overspreads the deck of the home. The deck is large and sits on two sides of the house. It includes a grill and a hot tub. We used the grill several times, but never quite made it into the tub. From the deck, there are steps down to a garden and then up to a second deck on the back of the garage. We rented a Chevy Malibu which just fit inside the 17 foot garage. You can enter and leave the property without using the front door.
My son lives in Eureka. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when we visit. It became our base of operations for seeing the redwoods, mountains, and ocean. We returned each evening to prepare dinner and sit and talk. As my son commented, it provided the perfect backdrop to the wonder and beauty we enjoyed each day in this amazing part of California.
I highly recommend the Zanone house to anyone visiting Eureka.
We had a very pleasant stay. Home was very comfortable. We would love to stay again on a future visit. Would recommend your home to anyone. Thanks again
A Eureka Gem
This place is great. The property will transport you to a peaceful wilderness retreat while the house will transport you back to a simpler time. Our family of 6 enjoyed all our time here from the landscape, the hot tub, the comfy beds, and the kids loved the free roaming chickens. Beautiful and affordable. The owners are friendly and helpful. We would stay again if ever in Eureka in the future.
Beautiful property in Eureka
We stayed at this property for 4 nights in July of 2018 for a girls trip. The house exceeded my expectations. It was beautifully remodeled, the bedrooms are roomy and the beds very comfortable, the living room is old fashioned and cozy perfect for us to sit and talk the night away. The kitchen was my favorite place, I cooked breakfast for everyone in the mornings which we ate outside on the porches.
I was able to park the car in the garage, the property is very private and the gardens were in full bloom, The location was in good proximity to things we wanted to do and not far from my daughter's place. I'll keep this property in mind and rent it again sometimes.
Located near Redwood National Park and Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Clam Beach County Park, and other state parks.
