Colorful fall in the Rockies! Views from Hot Tub, Pets, Internet

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,400 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6) Hot Tub With Views

Relax in our peaceful 2400 sq. ft. home with hot tub on the deck, peaceful surroundings, views, fully-equipped kitchen, internet connection, TV w/ cable. Lots of space to spread out, private, tree-filled lot. Hike to fishing lake. Lots of board games, foosball and a piano (although a little out of tune)

Master bedroom has Cal King bed & private 3/4 bath and deck off the sliding door. Extra seating and small desk for private time makes this room a favorite.

2nd BR hosts over-sized twin bed (large enough for two small bodies) The antique furniture in this room has been in the family for quite a while, and the full bath is right next door.

3rd BR is downstairs with a California King bed. We call this the Snow White room. See photos and you'll see why.

Adjoining room has a double futon and a really comfortable, leather couch. Extra sheets, blankets & pillows are available. Laundry room is convenient too. Our hot tub is maintained regularly. Pets seem to enjoy this space too.

About Joe Hoyle

Since moving to Pagosa Springs in 2004, we have both said, ' this is where we feel most at home.' We hope you will too. We left California soon after becoming empty-nesters and both our children have lived with us for short periods of time since then. Several of our friends have also stayed with us throughout the years. It is a place we love, and feel so fortunate that we can share it with others.

Joe Hoyle purchased this house in 2004

Why Joe Hoyle chose Southwest

We love our home and the Pagosa Springs area, but work takes us elsewhere. We started visiting Pagosa in 1993, and continued until we finally bought Dancing Bear Acres. We hope to come back to live there, but until we do, we love to share it with others. It is a relaxing retreat for us whenever we visit. Our routine is to make a cup of coffee and hit the hot tub first thing in the morning, although night-time star gazing is amazing from the warmth of the hot tub too.

We have had several large gatherings with family and friends, and enjoy the outdoor campfire during the summer - roasting marshmallows and singing.

What makes this house unique

Joe had seen this house on the internet for about a year before finally making the decision to come see it. We made an offer that same day. We knew we wanted to move eventually, but when we finally came, the move happened pretty quickly. We feel blessed to be able to still spend some time there, and hope to have family gatherings in the future.

Great place to escape the Texas heat!

We (2 adults and 2 teens) had a wonderful week at Dancing Bear Acres. We didn't miss having AC at all. The house stayed cool. We loved having ceiling fans in the upstairs rooms. The downstairs bedroom has a table fan. The home is fully stocked and had everything we needed. The owners are a text away and responded to questions quickly. Read the binder of info provided. The beds are pretty firm. Not a bad thing, just personal preference. We slept ok considering we prefer a tiny bit softer. The place is peaceful and has a hippy/new age vibe. We loved keeping bird seed in the feeder and sitting in the lounge chair with the windows opened, taking in the sounds of the birds and feeling the wonderful breezes. We did see black squirrels and deer. We spotted bear cubs and momma playing in town. Loved being away from town but close enough to access stores and restaurants easily. We aren't Wal Mart fans at all l, but the Pagosa Wal Mart is great and had everything we needed or wanted. We loved Thia Pagosa, Kip's, and Rosie's Pizarria. We were able to get gluten free food at all 3. Shanghai was also good and has GF options. There isn't a safe kitchen for Celiacs, but ppl with gluten intolerances can survive. Our favorite fishing spot was Shaw Lake in South Fork. We drove there 3 times. Williams Creek Reservoir is amazing and the drive is gorgeous! The hike to Hunters Lake was fun. We didn't have much luck at Echo Canyon Reservoir and we never walked there. We drove there the few times we went. We enjoyed the hot tub in the cool evenings after hiking and fishing. The stars are amazing on clear nights. The WAZE app took us straight to the house. Google maps had it wrong. There is only 1 TV in the house with Satellite and it's downstairs in the game room. This was totally great as we are consumed with technology on a daily basis and wanted to unplug. We only watched TV one night. The washer and dryer were nice to have! Bring folding chairs for fishing trips and swim towels for the river. This is the first place we have stayed through VRBO that truly supplied everything. (Soaps, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, trash bags, TP and paper towels and more) I did restock some TP because it just felt right. :) It will be a sad day for all of us when the owners move here permanently, but great for them! Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. Hoyle, for providing a fantastic & peaceful rental! :-) We had some pretty unforgettable adventures in and around Pagosa Springs! We'll be back!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Staci! You understand exactly why we love our home so much. We just spent two weeks there ourselves recently and are so grateful that we got to enjoy everything you mention. Gives us great pleasure to share it with you. Joe Hoyle Dancing Bear Acres

This property is very comfortably private in proximity to neighbors. Quiet even though you can see the highway in the distance. Great view of the mountains all around and a short drive to town. The hot tub on the deck was an awesome add on. My family and I will definitely be returning in the future!

We had a wonderful time staying here. The cabin was the perfect size for the 5 of us. We wished we had more time to visit relatives that met us and the area. Very close to Echo Lake for fishing. The kitchen is large for a lot of people to be cooking, visiting around the island. The hot tub was a great finish to the day, deck amazingly large! and the wildlife very enjoyable to watch (we saw some baby fox and their mom playing ) plenty of things to do in the rec room downstairs including a foosball table. Definitely one we would stay at again!

Absolutely wonderful. Beautiful views accompanied by lots of wildlife. Hot tub is a must. Pagosa is a great town with lots to do. We enjoyed white water rafting, shopping and going to treasure falls.

The 'Pagosah' hot springs are our favorite local hangout and a must do after skiing or hiking. The choice of three different venues for a therapeutic soak are what make these hot springs great. Our favorite for a swim, The Healing Waters Spa. For relaxation and views, try The Springs Resort. The recreational lake is walking distance from the house and provides a beautiful setting for bird watching, sunsets, moon rise and star gazing. Scenic biking trails are abundant throughout the area. We always take our guests to Treasure Falls, just up Hwy 160 about a 20 minute drive.
