Beautiful Springtime in the Rockies! Views from Hot Tub, Pets, Internet

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,400 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6) Hot Tub With Views

Relax in our peaceful 2400 sq. ft. home with hot tub on the deck, peaceful surroundings, views, fully-equipped kitchen, internet connection, TV w/ cable. Lots of space to spread out, private, tree-filled lot. Hike to fishing lake. Lots of board games, foosball and a piano (although a little out of tune)

Master bedroom has Cal King bed & private 3/4 bath and deck off the sliding door. Extra seating and small desk for private time makes this room a favorite.

2nd BR hosts over-sized twin bed (large enough for two small bodies) The antique furniture in this room has been in the family for quite a while, and the full bath is right next door.

3rd BR is downstairs with a California King bed. We call this the Snow White room. See photos and you'll see why.

Adjoining room has a double futon and a really comfortable, leather couch. Extra sheets, blankets & pillows are available. Laundry room is convenient too. Our hot tub is maintained regularly. Pets seem to enjoy this space too.

About Joe Hoyle

Since moving to Pagosa Springs in 2004, we have both said, ' this is where we feel most at home.' We hope you will too. We left California soon after becoming empty-nesters and both our children have lived with us for short periods of time since then. Several of our friends have also stayed with us throughout the years. It is a place we love, and feel so fortunate that we can share it with others.

Joe Hoyle purchased this house in 2004

Why Joe Hoyle chose Southwest

We love our home and the Pagosa Springs area, but work takes us elsewhere. We started visiting Pagosa in 1993, and continued until we finally bought Dancing Bear Acres. We hope to come back to live there, but until we do, we love to share it with others. It is a relaxing retreat for us whenever we visit. Our routine is to make a cup of coffee and hit the hot tub first thing in the morning, although night-time star gazing is amazing from the warmth of the hot tub too.

We have had several large gatherings with family and friends, and enjoy the outdoor campfire during the summer - roasting marshmallows and singing.

What makes this house unique

Joe had seen this house on the internet for about a year before finally making the decision to come see it. We made an offer that same day. We knew we wanted to move eventually, but when we finally came, the move happened pretty quickly. We feel blessed to be able to still spend some time there, and hope to have family gatherings in the future.

Large Home But Still Cozy!

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I stayed here for 6 nights, April 3-9, & we'd choose the same place all over again! The house & views are far more beautiful in person than shown online, and we felt right at home with the subtle hippie style decor. The house had everything we needed, & we took full advantage of the amazing hot tub, plentiful birdseed, nice washer/dryer, and rustic wood burning stove! The windows surrounding the home allowed us to see so much wildlife, including the cutest chipmunks and villain-looking squirrels! :)

Pagosa Springs is so charming & this house is only about 10 minutes or so from town. We'd recommend going to the hot springs in the morning, as afternoon got louder & less relaxing. For coffee & breakfast we enjoyed Boulder Coffee Cafe & Higher Grounds. We had some amazing thai food (my favorite) from Thai Pagosa, tasty mexican food from Borde Rio, & the BEST sweets from The Choke Cherry Tree.

Some things worth mentioning so you're aware if you stay here, though they'd never deter us from staying here again -

When looking at the vaulted windows from the outside, they reflect the sky and trees. Because of this, we had two birds fly into them at full speed. The windows were ok, but the birds...not so much :(

We were informed that the hot tub would be cleaned on a particular day and time, so we decided to venture out to the hot springs on that day. We returned from the springs in the evening and assumed that the hot tub had been cleaned. That is until the following day when I woke up from an afternoon nap and, not fully dressed, went into the kitchen to get a drink. I almost peed myself when I saw a man standing outside on the deck, who I eventually came to realize was the person there to clean the hot tub. It snowed a couple days before he was to come, so perhaps this altered his schedule.

It was that evening, or maybe the next day, that my husband was startled from a nap and jumped up saying he hears 'voices' outside. Upon investigation, we realized that is was just propane being delivered. This was not an issue at all, and we would not have known that the guy was outside if it weren't for his radio, or 'the voices' ..haha

Neither of these workers knocked or bothered us. However, some Jahova's Witnesses did stop by, which is ok, but was just unexpected.

Oh, and be sure to follow the directions that are provided by the owner in the days leading up to your stay. It is likely that your GPS will take you to the wrong place :)

Quick break

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay here, my wife and I wanted to get in some snowboarding before the season ended. This was a great half way point on our drive home. The house is wonderful and quiet, pet friendly was key for us, and after a long day on the mountain the hot tub was just what we needed, hope to be back soon.

Great Stay...nice house!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Dancing Bear Acres. The house is nice and the location is perfect for skiing at Wolf Creek or visiting Pagosa Springs. Every amenity is provided. We especially loved the great sledding hill and the hot tub on the deck. The kitchen is very nice and all appliances were like new.

We only had a few minor issues during our stay. The towels smelled like mildew when we got there. We washed them and then they were fine. Also, the hot water heater could not accommodate the four of us showering one after the other. There were several cold showers. Finally, the wifi quit working after the second day. Not sure why, but we just could get it work. None of these were major issues and they definitely will not stop us from returning to this great house!

Fantastic Place!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Straight to the point... we really enjoyed our stay! The home is in a great location, easy to access and most importantly beautiful. Our favorite amenity was relaxing in the hot tub as the snow was falling. Thank you Joe for approving our stay. I would definitely recommend this home to others. The only improvement I would recommend would to improve the quality of the beds in the Master and upstairs bedroom.... the beds are a little stiff.

Thank you

Owner's Response: Thank you Justin for your review and glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope all our guests enjoy our home as much as we do. When I first read your review I was a little puzzled, with a 5 star rating, yet a mention of improvement. Thank you for speaking with me on the phone to clarify the beds were in great condition and that it was a personal preference as far as the firmness of the mattress. Hope you choose to stay with us again in the future. Again thanks, Joe and De Anna Hoyle

Fun and comfortable home.

  • 5 of 5

Had a very nice stay. The owners are very very responsive to a few small issues or questions we had. The beds are comfy, and the views are wonderful. The spa was a delight after a big ski day. The kitchen was well stocked. It was nice that there was even several spices and condiments ready to use, plus sugar, flour, oil, and other baking needs, when we had that need! In fact, we never ate out, as the kitchen was so great. The downstairs game and tv area were nice to have separated from the main living and dining area. We saw a fox from the dining room window, and lots of birds. Deer and elk were nearby. The drive is fairly long and somewhat steep, so if you go in the winter, be sure you have all wheel drive or a four by four. We did fine in our Subaru.

Thanks you Joe and De Anna for a wonderful stay!

Great cabin for wolf creek!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at this cabin. It is spacious, comfortable, plenty of acreage to get you that country cabin feel but very close to downtown Pagosa. The Hot tub is awesome and having a garage to park in during the winter snow is fantastic. Overall I highly recommend.

The 'Pagosah' hot springs are our favorite local hangout and a must do after skiing or hiking. The choice of three different venues for a therapeutic soak are what make these hot springs great. Our favorite for a swim, The Healing Waters Spa. For relaxation and views, try The Springs Resort. The recreational lake is walking distance from the house and provides a beautiful setting for bird watching, sunsets, moon rise and star gazing. Scenic biking trails are abundant throughout the area. We always take our guests to Treasure Falls, just up Hwy 160 about a 20 minute drive.
