About Deanna Rasco
We have been part of the Florida Key since my birth. I have spent many holidays in the Keys. My Grandparents purchased the home in 1990. Since then, my husband and I have purchased the home and have done updates. We still visit the Keys frequently from South Florida.
Deanna Rasco purchased this House in 1991
Why Deanna Rasco chose Islamorada
This home is a very private home with incredible views. On any given day you can see a variety of incredible birds including bald eagle, osprey, pelicans and if you watch closely you may see dolphin swimming in the water. There is no place closer to paradise. Unlike most other homes on the ocean that are set back, this house sits the closest to the edge allowing unobstructed views and extreme privacy.

Stayed at this property Aug 11-18 and had a fantastic time. Like others have been saying, this home has everything you need and then some. Coming from New England, we anticipated the heat and humidity, but sitting in the back of the house reading or just gazing at the ocean was simply breathtaking! There was 5 of us: Husband and I, 16yr old son and our daughter and her boyfriend. So we all pretty much had our own bathrooms. One day we rented a double kayak and 3 paddle boards, that was HOT, but fun!! Two evenings we did sunset/snorkling cruise out of Robbies (great place!) And on another day we rented jet ski's
and kayaked through mangroves ( all through Robbies as well)so much fun!! Another day we drove to Key West and visited the Mel Fisher museum Atocha, then had lunch and cocktails at Sloppy Joes on Duval Street. In Key West, it felt so much hotter than at the house so we didn't last long there at all. The drive there and back though is just beautiful! It was really nice to go back to this awesome house and relax...
We did our shopping at Winn Dixie in Tavernier, and had beakfast every day at the house, lunch and dinner we ate out mostly. Lots of Iguana everywhere, enjoyed this even sitting in the lounge chair by the water reading and relaxing!
When not busy doing water sports, the boys occupied themselves trying to open coconuts, that took some time, haha!
All in all, we had a wonderful time staying here. I am a neat freak so everywhere we go on vacation I get nervous, but this place meets my standards by far!
Just a couple of weeks after we left, hurricane Irma hit the Keys. This must have been devastating. I truly hope this house survived with minimal damage. Would love to know how it held up.... I hate to think of all the damage to the homes and businesses...very sad.
Thank you for the wonderful review. I am glad you had a great time. Hurricane Irma was tough in some parts of the keys. We were very lucky. We had no structural damage, just landscaping issues. We will be done with these issues and back to normally in a few weeks. It was so heartwarming to hear from you and previous tenants during this time. Thank you.
Amazing Views ForEver
Really wanted to do 4.5 stars but did not see a way. Only wished we had known ahead of time that swimming right off the property was not ideal.
We had an amazing 10 days at this property. It is a convenient location to get where ever you want to go, and the house has everything you may need. Only about an hour and a half from Key West and or Miami-depending on traffic of course as there is only single lane road. If we had to do it again, we would rent kayaks for the time there so we could easily access the clear blue water that is offshore a bit. Still shallow way out. Close to shore, its fairly muddy bottom, and Oh! also a resident croc likes to sleep on the cement dock next door. So, a kayak is good to have.
The view is simply amazing. Nothing else to say on that! House is comfy with lots of outdoor furniture for lounging.
Skip Anne's "Beach" and head to Sombrero Beach(no fee) or Bahia Honda(fee) if you want to sit and swim.
We snorkeled with Captain Kathy of Family Fun Boat Tour Co. That was a lot of fun and well organized. Kayak right from Robbie's(they will deliver to the house, or just go from there).
Great home and even greater views!
Ocean Retreat a Real Treat
Beautiful property...had everything we could want including water toys and a basket full of indoor toys! The house is designed for togetherness but also for privacy! Hot tub was a special treat. Everything was clean and well maintained and close to other attractions! Boys enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking and boating! They even found a baby octopus, a sea star and a baby lobster and had a close up encounter with a small shark. Of course all specimens were released back to their rightful habitat. We had a fabulous time and look forward to returning in the near future!
It was a relaxing private beach
We enjoyed our stay and love the laid back atmosphere. Perfect location but the weather didn't cooperate with us
OK except BR In No Man's Land
Very expense week considering the third bed room is downstairs like out side down stairs. Outside stairs to main portion of house - and bad due to that. Our daughter's family went with us so we gave them (her, husband and our grandson) upstairs so we felt a little like we paid BIG bucks to stay in a small hotel room! And AC in it comes on and goes off all the time. Nice view but we found out beaches in Panhandle of Fl are much nicer at a similar condo/house since there is NO beach at this or really hardly any Keys places. No pool and for price should be. Location is great if you do go to Keys. Upstairs of house was nice - but again downstairs and outside, we felt a little like in left field. Would not recommend based on this - if need three bedrooms, make sure ALL are upstairs. We knew this of course before renting but you asked how was the property and you need more than your two choices given! We didn't really love it due to discussion above but we did enjoy our stay since we live for our daughter and family! We've "been there and done that" for the Keys! And anyone reading this DO NOT go to Keys on a three day weekend - traffic was horrendous on our Sat arrival of Memorial Day weekend but was only time our SIL could go. House was OK but did not really love it as the only two rating calls for.
