Designer's Historic Estate! 3+ ACRES WITH POOL, STUDIO, GUEST COTTAGE

Bedrooms 5
Property type estate
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Newly restored 5-6 BR/4-5 Bath c1900 family compound

The 5BR/4BATH immaculately restored MAIN HOUSE (c1900) with a fabulous 48' gunite pool can be rented WITH OR WITHOUT the newly built studio/summerhouse and guest cottage (room for one couple only) that are located separately on a private part of the property.

The beautifully furnished MAIN HOUSE is filled with books, antiques, art, and authentic period details, yet has entirely modern amenities, including wi-fi and flat screen tv's, beautiful modern bathrooms, and a fabulous farmhouse kitchen with all stainless steel appliances.

The antique barn pool pavilion and the 48' Gunite pool sit within a 2 acre split-rail fenced meadow a few steps from the Main House.

The charming barn studio/summerhouse and guest cottage (with bath and sitting room--one couple occupancy) are located far from the Main House on the opposite side of the meadow, on what is really a separate and private property, and are available for an additional nightly rate.

This unique property of 3.5 open, park-like acres lies only 1.5 miles from East Hampton Village and its exceptional beaches. Old (yet new!) East Hampton at its best.

NOTE: Rentals of two weeks or more can be substantially discounted. Please inquire for rates.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house is extremely spacious, decorated very lovely and stylishly but yet very comfortable at the same time. The pool area is divine and catches the late afternoon sun until quite late. The location is superb, a five minute drive to East Hampton and ten minutes to Sag Harbor...we will most definitely be back.

Perfect girls weekend!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I came here for a bachelorette weekend in early September. Madelyn couldn't have been a more responsive and gracious host. She met us at the beginning of our stay to give us a quick tour and was available for any questions we had throughout the visit. The house itself is absolutely stunning. It's expertly decorated and incredibly charming. The location is peaceful and accessible. We had everything we needed to prepare and enjoy our own meals in the spacious kitchen and dining room, and also enjoyed grilling and lounging on the beautiful grounds by the pool. It was extremely easy to pop into town for groceries, and to explore the local shops and restaurants. It's truly a perfect mix of tranquility and convenience. Thanks to Madelyn for sharing her wonderful home with us - we'll be back!

This property was charming and in an excellent location. The house was extremely comfortable and accommodating in every sense of the word. Above all, the service Madelyn provided was exceptional and was beyond welcoming. I highly recommend this house for families and adults.

Beautiful home and property

  • 5 of 5

My family needed a quiet retreat for a few days after my wedding. It was a stunning location. The home is an old farm house that Madelyn (the owner) has lovingly restored to a modern home with antique aesthetics. My family all admired those details, yet loved the new shower in the master bath and the updated touches throughout.

Madelyn was there if we needed her, yet respected our privacy if we wanted to be alone. She clearly loves the property and the home reflects it. If you go, you won't be disappointed! We lit candles in the old shed by the pool at night and this was one of our favorite experiences.

One of a Kind - Stunningly Lovely!

  • 5 of 5

This house is one of a kind…An antique farmhouse with totally updated (but still authentic and tasteful) interiors. We spent many relaxing hours lingering in the pool pavilion, where we read, ate al fresco, and gazed out over the stunning pool and the beautiful open meadow. Everything so serenely comfortable and beautiful. We will be back!

I've visited and rented many properties in the Hamptons over the years, and this is simply the most special property I've encountered. Understated and exquisitely decorated, you feel like you're in another place and time. It books up fast, so grab it while you can -- you won't regret it!

The best house in East Hampton

  • 5 of 5

I absolutely love staying at Madelyn's home. It's located on Roberts lane, perfectly secluded for a peaceful weekend while convenient enough (6 minute drive) to pop into town for anything you need. I've rented several places and stayed in many homes in EH and I've always been the happiest here.

East Hampton is a unique oceanfront whaling village dating from the 17th c that is located on the far eastern tip of Long Island, approximately 90 miles from NYC's JFK and La Guardia airports. Some of the best beaches in world are found here, along with golf, tennis, world class shopping, The Hampton Classic, the new Parrish Art Museum, an exceptional library, top restaurants, a theater, several movie houses, and charming, tree lined streets for biking and walking. There are tours and wine tasting at the local vineyards, weekend tag sales, bike trips to Montauk, hiking, luncheons and antiquing at the Sag Harbor, farmers' markets, and golden summer days for fishing and water sports on the bay and swimming in the ocean, or for just relaxing and reading a good book by the pool. A very special place...
