We stayed at the property for four days for my daughter's wedding on the island.
The first thing that strikes you is the house; clearly the nicest on the block. Then the location is fabulous; right on the Chesapeake Bay with a backyard and a dock. The photos on the web site doesn't do it justice.
The house itself is quite large. We had 4 - 6 people sleeping in the house at night, though there were plenty of beds and rooms for more people if necessary. On the morning of the wedding, both the bride and groom's wedding parties came over to prepare for the event, and there was more than enough room to accommodate them. They all found the ambiance perfect for the occasion. Many spent time in the backyard and the dock, and all had nothing but wonderful things to say.
The bedrooms are good size. Two have picture windows looking out over the bay. It is special sitting in the living room or sitting on the Adirondack chairs on the lawn with your morning coffee looking at and listening to the water and while we were there, watching the osprey hang out at the osprey nest near to end of the dock.
The house is well stocked with things like kitchen equipment, fishing rods (no luck) and crab traps to use. We had two small crabs in the trap that we threw back in. Rick is easily reachable if you need anything and was very responsive.
I highly recommend the rental and my wife and I plan to go back sometime in the future for the memories.
We had 10 adults in our party and there was plenty of room for all of us! Would have been nice to have an additional bathroom in the 3rd floor, but minor complaint. The view and outdoor space was more then expected. We had an amazing time in the backyard and on the dock. Kitchen and dining room were perfect size and we had plenty of room for all of us to eat and prep food. I would definitely recommend this rental and will consider renting from the owners in the future! Thanks Rick and Meredith for such a great weekend/house!
We rented this home for our large family as we were attending a wedding in the area. Enjoyed the backyard view, the pier, and the quiet neighborhood. We did have a few issues which could have been addressed better by the owner, but overall a nice stay.
We stayed in this home to attend a weekend wedding in the area. Nice, spacious house with beautiful backyard right on the water. Located on a quiet street. Overall we had a very nice experience with the rental. There were a few problems where the owner could have been more attentive to our needs - for example, the dishwasher was not working and was not repaired while we were there.
The numerous 5 star reviews helped us decide to choose this home located on Eastern Bay. The location and view is definitely 5 star. The inside of the home on the first floor and the bedrooms are very nice however my reason for the 1 star poor rating is as follows: We found bedbugs in the yellow bedroom. The occupant of that room had numerous bites but didn't actually see the bedbugs until the final night so we thought they were mosquito bites. We left a sample bug wrapped in a tissue for the owner so he can get his home exterminated. A previous reviewer mentioned bugs in this bedroom but failed to say bedbugs. Check in is 3pm - cleaning people did not finish until 4pm. When we finally got in the home was full of flies, we killed over 100 during our 3 night 4 day stay. The cleaning people told us the dishwasher was broken and Rick was made aware of it. He offered to replace it during our stay but we were only going to be there a short time so I told him to wait until we checked out. The cleaning people also failed to leave us a key to the home and Rick never answered my text regarding the fact we had no house key so we had to leave the home unlocked when we went out. The downstairs toilet stopped flushing and the plumping throughout the house was gurgling leading us to believe the septic was close to full. The chairs in living room are dirty and torn. Both porches were dirty and don't look like the pictures. Previous reviewers mentioned ripped screens and broken windows. They are still not repaired. The upstairs porch (with the swing bed) now has 3 beds (picture shows 2) therefore very limited walking space; it has an AC window unit boarded into a window with a plug that can't reach the receptacle without blocking the entrance to the porch. Also, this porch has a screen door which lets all the AC out?? I texted Rick to make him aware of all the above mentioned issues. I told him the home is in a gorgeous location however the home itself is showing a lack of upkeep and repair. My biggest concern is the bedbugs found in the yellow bedroom. I know for a fact that's what they are and now we are all worried about bringing them home.
It is a gorgeous house with everything you need for an unforgettable weekend. The site is peaceful and extremely well maintained. Rick has been fabulous with us, answering each and every question we had before our stay.
Just note that if you are coming with a big group, you may not have the privacy you want (access to the sleeping porch is through one of the bedrooms) but that did not really bother us.
Get local crabs starting in May and they get the biggest and fattest in September and October! Fish off the pier or inquiry about chartering a fishing trip. Bike on the trails to the Golf Course or Kentmorr Restaurant and Marina.
