About Anita Connor
For more than ten years we enjoyed this cottage as a vacation spot for our extended family. Adults and kids alike thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful lake. Although we only live 30 minutes away, by 2012 we found we were using it less as our family aged or moved away. In 2013 we decided to convert it to rental property and let others enjoy the little slice of heaven we call Connors Cove. This is our first year listing with VRBO. Our guest book is filled with more then 10 years of terrific memories from family, friends and past renters.
Anita Connor purchased this Cottage in 2003
Why Anita Connor chose Amston
We chose Amston Lake because of its quiet beauty and its proximity to our home. The cottage is conveniently located yet just far enough away from the noise of everyday living. The property offers year round comfort. It is a family friendly place where neighbors are neighborly but respectful of privacy. Many of the homes/cottages are passed down from generation to generation. The lake is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors who is very conscientious about maintaining the roads, beaches and the lake water quality. The lake is stocked and even novices manage to catch a fish or two. Please visit www.Amstonlake.org for more info on this little known lake.
What makes this Cottage unique
Beautifully serene lake where morning coffee and evening cocktails are not interrupted by motors. While kayaking and fishing you might just see a pair of Bald eagles or a family of muskrats. There are plenty of interesting places to explore within a 30-60 minute drive of Amston, including two casinos, Pequot Museum, Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, Wadsworth Athanaeum, Mark Twain House, CT Science Center, Gillette Castle, and Goodspeed Opera House. Closer to home will find many local flea and farmers markets, farm tours, antique stores, American Revolution historic sites and several wineries. In Marlboro, Hebron and Colchester you will find a variety of restaurants, grocers, and a movie theater. There are trails to hike and bike and spring and fall are beautiful times to enjoy this part of the state.

Lovely Cozy Lakeside Cottage
Another great weekend at Amston Lake with friends & a visit from local family members also.
Many thanks to our hosts for sharing this wonderful gem with us. Hope to return again sometime in the future.
The Perfect Spot
Very comfortable, welcoming. All needs were met. The owners truly care about providing a wonderful experience for their guests. It was the perfect venue for our daughters graduation from UCONN. The view of the lake was lovely and I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Thank you for your warm review. We were happy to be a small part of the joy in seeing your daughter achieve such an important milestone. Congratulations to you and her.
Quaint lake cottage
Five of us spend two nights here for a low key bachelorette weekend. It was comfortable and very clean. Anita met us there and gave us a tour to make sure we knew where everything we might need would be! We hit up Priam Winery in Colchester which I would highly recommend. Although the lake was a little too cold to swim in, the view was beautiful. Would definitely recommend!
It was a pleasure to host your bachelorette party. I am sorry I did not write sooner - our belated congratulations to the new Mrs.
Peaceful lake retreat
Really enjoyed our brief time at John and Anita's lake house. Tranquil setting, everything you need is provided, very cozy place to get away. Beautiful lake for kayaking, etc. Would love to return.
Thank you so much for your online review. We certainly hope you can come again. Every time of year - spring, summer, fall and even winter offers something to enjoy at the lake.
Our family of 5 stayed here for two nights as we made our way up the east coast on a road trip. It was a wonderful, quiet place to stay. Our kids (2, 5 & 10) loved the house. We felt it so easy to make ourselves at home here. Games on the shelf, kayak at the ready, throw blankets on the chair, and a great view of the lake. We could easily have had a few friends/family join us with plenty of space to spread out. Everything you could need or want is supplied. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Something Simple Cafe in Hebron. I would recommend highly.
Thank you so much. We are glad you enjoyed your brief stay with us and hope the rest of your journey was equally fun. We agree that the Something Simple cafe is great!
Beautiful and charming place for a Thanksgiving dinner
We stayed at Anita's house the weekend of Thanksgiving and the place was as expected, very convenient to host a Thanksgiving dinner, we didn't lack any kitchen supply, plenty of space to accommodate 8 very comfortable with small and large dining tables and comfortable beds. The lake view was astonishing and relaxing, we enjoyed having a bunk fire and roast marshmallows, my teenage sons enjoyed using the canoes, plenty of hiking trails around the area Anita was available when needed. But most important, I rented this house because it doesn't allow pets, my son is very allergic to dust and animals, he felt very well the whole weekend and for me, that was the most important part, this house is very well kept and clean. I totally recommend this property.
Amston is a small private lake community nestled within the town of Hebron. The lake borders both Hebron and Lebanon. Our property is on the Hebron side. It is off of Route 85 (Church St.), an easy 15 minute drive from Route 2 Exit 13. The area has many scenic areas to enjoy in any season. This area of the state is rural enough to feel like you left the crowds behind yet suburban enough to have the convenience of drugstores, gas stations, grocers and banks at hand.
Many of our past renters have used our location to launch day trips to the Connecticut shoreline, the Connecticut River valley, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York. Others just prefer to relax and watch kayaks glide by. If a hike in the woods and a picnic lunch is your idea of a perfect afternoon, there are many great spots to pick from.
Whatever we can do to make your visit memorable, please let us know.
