About Anita Connor

For more than ten years we enjoyed this cottage as a vacation spot for our extended family. Adults and kids alike thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful lake. Although we only live 30 minutes away, by 2012 we found we were using it less as our family aged or moved away. In 2013 we decided to convert it to rental property and let others enjoy the little

slice of heaven we call Connors Cove. This is our first year listing with VRBO. Our guest book is filled with more then 10 years of terrific memories from family, friends and past renters.

Anita Connor purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Anita Connor chose Connecticut

We chose Amston Lake because of its quiet beauty and its proximity to our home. The cottage is conveniently located yet just far enough away from the noise of everyday living. The property offers year round comfort. It is a family friendly place where neighbors are neighborly but respectful of privacy. Many of the homes/cottages are passed down from generation to generation. The lake is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors who is very conscientious about maintaining the roads, beaches and the lake water quality. The lake is stocked and even novices manage to catch a fish or two. Please visit www.Amstonlake.org for more info on this little known lake.

What makes this cottage unique

Beautifully serene lake where morning coffee and evening cocktails are not interrupted by motors. While kayaking and fishing you might just see a pair of Bald eagles or a family of muskrats. There are plenty of interesting places to explore within a 30-60 minute drive of Amston, including two casinos, Pequot Museum, Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, Wadsworth Athanaeum, Mark Twain House, CT Science Center, Gillette Castle, and Goodspeed Opera House. Closer to home will find many local flea and farmers markets, farm tours, antique stores, American Revolution historic sites and several wineries. In Marlboro, Hebron and Colchester you will find a variety of restaurants, grocers, and a movie theater. There are trails to hike and bike and spring and fall are beautiful times to enjoy this part of the state.

Warm and welcoming cottage. Perfect for a weekend getaway.

  • 5 of 5

Anita was great to communicate with and the house had everything we needed! It was clean and spacious. Also there were board games that were a great addition since it was a little too cold to go out on the kayaks on the particular weekend we stayed. It was definitely a pleasure. Thank you for letting us stay in your delightful cottage!

Comfortable, cozy & peaceful

  • 5 of 5

What a gem!! We enjoyed a lovely 2 days with long time friends and hope to return. We visited Gillette Castle, and took the ferry over to Chester & back for lunch. Although we didn't have the opportunity to meet our host directly, Anita was delightful to work with via phone & email. Our friends arrived before us and Anita welcomed them.

Our only regret was not staying longer.

Thank you for sharing your home with us; can't wait to come back.

A Totally Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

This house was everything we hoped that it would be. The owners were so pleasant and helpful and were so thorough in explaining the house to me upon arrival. The house was spotless and fully equipped, and what an amazing spot on the lake. The side deck was great for eating, playing cards and sitting back to read a book. The dock was perfect for capturing the sun....and every day the weather was perfect.

We loved the wine store, the private Amston beach, the morning walks in the lovely neighborhoods and the restaurants of Colchester.

Actually we loved everything about our stay and have already rebooked!

wonderful vacation at the Connor's Cove house on Amston Lake, Connecticut

  • 5 of 5

This lake is just beautiful and the house has everything one would need to entertain a large crowd if necessary. No motor boats are allowed on this lake and so it is peaceful and quiet. The master bedroom faces the lake and the sunrise and the views are magnificent. A great dock and porch to entertain family and friends.. a minute walk to a public beach..less than 10 minutes to great shopping, movie theater and restaurants. There are 2 kayaks, fishing equipment if you are so inclined and a battery operated fishing boat for your use. There is air conditioning in each bedroom and in the sitting room. Facing the lake was a wonderful, great seating dining area. Would not hesitate to visit again and we plan to next summer.

Map

Car: necessary

Amston is a small private lake community nestled within the town of Hebron. The lake borders both Hebron and Lebanon. Our property is on the Hebron side. It is off of Route 85 (Church St.), an easy 15 minute drive from Route 2 Exit 13. The area has many scenic areas to enjoy in any season. This area of the state is rural enough to feel like you left the crowds behind yet suburban enough to have the convenience of drugstores, gas stations, grocers and banks at hand.

Many of our past renters have used our location to launch day trips to the Connecticut shoreline, the Connecticut River valley, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York. Others just prefer to relax and watch kayaks glide by. If a hike in the woods and a picnic lunch is your idea of a perfect afternoon, there are many great spots to pick from.

Whatever we can do to make your visit memorable, please let us know.
