About Alison and Charles Stephens

We bought the property 31 years ago and built the cabin ourselves out of logs from the property. We peeled them with the old fashioned draw knives. Over the years whether we lived near or far we have always come back to this cabin and had our summer vacations here. In 2012 we happily moved back to Maine and built a year round house on the same property. We figured others would enjoy the cabin vacation as well and are happy to offer it for rent.

Alison and Charles Stephens purchased this cabin in 1982

What makes this cabin unique

The unique nature of this cabin is that it is very private yet only 2 miles from the center of Blue Hill. We are also close to some of the most beautiful coastline in the world, the Blue Hill Peninsula is home to Deer Isle, Stonington and many other beautiful small communities. Great kayaking and hiking right close by. We are close to Bar Harbor, home of Acadia National Park, a popular summer attraction. We have 2 swimming ponds on the property and have built a 45 foot labyrinth for walking meditations.

Amazing, Peaceful Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

My husband, dog, and I stayed in this sweet cabin for 3 wonderful nights. Had an amazing time just chilling out in this clean and well stocked home. Walked the grounds and used the firepit each day/night. It was a perfect escape from city life. No wifi or tv but who cares!?! You are surrounded by nature and books galore. Plenty of games in the house as well. You will love your stay. The town is small but has some cute shops and places to eat. Check out the Fishnet and Co Op for food. And the chocolate/florist shop makes a great spiced coffee. Can't believe how lucky I was to find this cabin!

Cozy, Comfortable, Cute, and Overall Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this cabin is wonderful; the size, the structure, the design, the location, the woods and ponds behind it, etc.! Of course, there were mosquitoes, but that's inevitable and we expected it! The interior design is amazing; there were many decorations all over the place, like stuffed animals and seashells. This cabin truly lets you escape the modern world and enjoy simple, natural life for however long you're staying. Charles and Alison are also such amiable people, and they make you feel so welcome. We would definitely recommend going to this cabin!

Cozy cabin, very private.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful setting with two nice ponds in the back. Very peaceful and quiet. Ample space for a family. The only fault I could find was that the furniture was dated with a few stains and the bedding could be a little nicer. Allison met us when we arrived and made us feel right at home. Overall a great experience. Close enough to activities, but private.

Sensational place for unbelievable price!

  • 5 of 5

Charles and Alison were born to be hosts! They have created a blissful little vacation spot in their darling log cabin in the cool woods of coastal Maine. We and our granddaughter hated like crazy to leave. Everything you need plus all kinds of extras. Stay here as long as you can! The Texas Dokes

4th of July in Maine

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week at this cabin...and as others have mentioned, better than the photos. You get the cozy cabin feel, yet it's actually very spacious- more than we expected. There are trinkets, books, and baskets about which give you the warm, homey feel (not to mention a completely fully stocked kitchen) and a backyard fire pit and pond. We spent nearly every evening by the fire, and enjoyed time in the pond, which the owners were happy to share their water tubes with us. The location is great and we were able to arrive at Acadia within 45 minutes each day. There's so much to do in this area and the owners are happy to help you with suggestions. We felt welcome and at-home, and its worth mentioning that the bed was very comfortable!
