About Sharon McMahon

I am a native San Franciscan and have lived in this house for over 20 years. Both my husband and I are in the wine business and work in Sonoma. We have two adult children, entertain often and he plays golf...I read and cook whenever I can!

Sharon McMahon purchased this apartment in 1983

Why Sharon McMahon chose San Francisco

This is our 30 year family home. We lived in both units for many years when my children were in school. The house was turned back into two units and after college, both children lived above us until they 'got on their feet.' My son is now the only tennant, but travels the majority of the time.

What makes this apartment unique

Typical 'Marina' flat...10 feet ceilings and lots of beautiful moldings, split bathroom allows the privacy of the shower/bathtub and sink being used while the water closet (toilet only) next to it. We are located in a quiet nook between two of the best neighborhoods in San Francisco and a block away from the gorgeous SF Presidio...PLUS walking distance to the bay where you can watch kite surfing, sailing and large cruise ships enter under the majestic Golden Gate. You may have seen the spectacular scene in the 2013 Americas Cup. (USA won!)

No need to have a car..bus transportation is around the corner. There is an express bus to financial district and the Embarcadero. It would be best to rent car only for the days you want to go out of the city.

Great, simple place in a very convenient location with parking

  • 5 of 5

The unit was simple and clean with all the necessities for our quick, three day trip. Sharon was a delight to work with. I would definitely return and recommend this unit.

Bright, cheerful, nice neighbourhood

  • 4 of 5

We found the property easy to locate, easy to access with the combination lockbox, clean, and nice, and the price was certainly reasonable, especially considering other rates for the week we were there. It's within walking distance of a lot of Marina District dining, coffee shops, and shopping. A couple of blocks away from the Palace of Fine Arts. You can see the Golden Gate Bridge from the end of the block.

Some details, to supplement what's in the official description:

* Three relatively large bedrooms, each with multiple windows, closet space, and a little table and chair.

* Living room with cable TV and a couch, and small table and chairs.

* Fully furnished small kitchen.

* A single small bathroom and separate toilet room that serve the whole unit.

* Wifi was free but occasionally really slow/congested. Good enough for email/Facebook/etc, but you're not going to be able to reliably use Facetime chat, Netflix, etc. Some days were much better.

Altogether a pretty decent rate for a 3BR flat in SF.

Great location and accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

Property was clean, tidy and as pictured/described. Bedrooms are spacious with plenty of storage space and the beds are very comfortable. Kitchen is small, but is perfect for preparing meals. Everything you need for a stay is provided. Plenty of towels, pillows, blankets, etc... There were 4 of us who stayed at the flat, and all agree that the location was perfect. There are coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, bars, parks, boutiques, etc... all within a short walk. City transportation is within a block and Uber is available within minutes. Sharon is quickly accommodating if there are questions of the area or if you have a specific need. Totally recommend this flat for a short get away or a longer stay!

perfect stay: perfect location, nicely decorated , impeccably clean

  • 5 of 5

I grew up in SF, so I really like to feel at home, like I live there. One of the reasons I picked this rental was for the neighborhood, one of my favorites in SF. It is a very beautiful, safe residential neighborhood and easy access to many things.

The rental was one of the cleanest I'd ever stayed in and I've rented many in SF and very nicely decorated. Our teen aged daughter and son loved their cozy bedrooms separate from each other. They hate to share beds or rooms, so this was great. There was lots of closest space and nice, big, comfortable beds. My husband and I were glad to have a bedroom on the other end of the apartment for more privacy.

Our only hesitation was that it didn't have a washer and dryer or dish washer. I didn't mind having a break from laundry and I made sure my laundry was done before we got there. There is an iron and ironing board, if needed. We weren't thrilled to have to do dishes, but we didn't have a lot of dishes to do considering there are so many restaurants near by. The positive aspects of this rental well outweighed these minor details.

The apartment was very comfortable and with lots of sunlight , contrary to what the photos may show. Nice new carpeted floors.

Parking our huge rental car was breeze. There was always parking available in the street and during the week Sharon was nice enough to let us use the garage. So we only needed to park on the street on the weekend. During the week there is a 2 to 3 hour limit, depending on which street.

We took lots of walks from there: just one block from Presidio, a block from Chestnut St and just a few blocks from Union street, my favorite streets where there are lots of cool shops, restaurants and cafés. We were just a couple blocks from Palace of Fine arts and very close to Crissy Field. We even walked to the Golden Gate Bridge. We also discovered free shuttles from Presidio, just a block away , that take you directly downtown and back. Saves on driving through downtown traffic, parking fees or from taking the bus.

Sharon was adorable: available if needed and very attentive, always making sure we had enough clean fluffy towels. I would stay again, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel like they live in SF.

Our flat is located in the heart of the popular Marina /Cow Hollow District. We are six short blocks from the beach at Chrissy Field and steps away from the Disney-Lucas Campus. You'll be just blocks from Chestnut and Union Streets, a local Mecca for great shopping, a variety of food, super coffee shops, lively bars and entertainment. The Marina has recently become well known for its restaurants and cocktail scene, but the physical beauty of the Marina makes this city iconic. Here you will be staying blocks from the beach, the Marina Green, Chrissy Field, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Palace of Fine Arts. The Presidio is ONLY one block away where you can have quiet beautiful walks through the George Lucas Campus, hike the Ecology Trail through the California Redwoods, or a trail that follows the West Coast, or get a Starbucks and watch the ducks swim in a lovely nearby lake. And if you must leave the city, you are less than one hour to the Sonoma wine country.
