Overview

About the property

a two bedroom apartment, spacious and luminous, high tech kitchen, small terrace

The apartment is 850 sq feet, has large windows on 4 sides, a small terrace with table & and a wooden platform with breathaking view of the whole city up on the roof.

There are only 22 steps up and no bridges to climb with your luggage coming from the ACTV waterbus station (called 'Fondamente Nuove) if you come from Venice train station SANTA LUCIA and from the Bus Station (Piazzale Roma).

There's one bridge to climb if you use Alilaguna services from MARCO POLO airport or from the MARITIME STATION to FONDAMENTE NUOVE.

High tech kitchen, very comfortable bathroom with large brand new shower box, air con and heating in every room.

Free Wifi router, two TV sets (one is 40'') and satellite antenna.

Very stylish furniture designed by a Venetian artisan (my father) about 50 years ago.

The two bedrooms are elegant and spacious, one with a king size bed, the second with two twin beds plus a bunk bed. Even with three beds there's still plenty of room to move around.

The area is dotted with good restaurants and wine bars, bakeries, pastry shops, two supermarkets. You can reach Rialto Market in 10 minutes, Murano, Burano and Torcello with public waterbus from nearby station Fondamente Nuove. St Mark Square can be reached in 12 minutes through a wonderful 'walk in history' including Campo San Giovanni e Paolo and Campo Santa Maria Formosa, rwo of the most beautiful squares in Venice. In 20 minutes across Cannaregio district you can reach the old Jewish Ghetto anf its five jewel like synagogues.

About roberta curiel

I am a Venetian born, 54, work as a professional tour guide showing monuments and museums to visitors from USA, Spain, Brazil and more. I wrote a book about the old Jewish Ghetto of Venice. I live by the Rialto food market and spend at least two months in Tunisia. I love reading, traveling (all over the world), cooking, wine tasting. I have a degree in foreign languages and I speak English, French, Spanish, Portuguese. My husband Fernando is half Spanish/half Roman, and also works as a tour guide

roberta curiel purchased this apartment in 1982

Why roberta curiel chose Venice

The location is great ! When my parents bought it they were so happy. There's a nice view on the Campiello, very luminous windows, tall ceilings. The small terrace allows you to sit outside, enjoy the flowers, the rooftop 'altana' is really wonderful (lots of steps to climb !). You can enjoy the real life of Venice but at the same time you're close to all the famous sites.

What makes this apartment unique

The sunny rooms, the location on a 'campiello' (a small square) with a cosy garden and no neighbours watching into your home.

Very close to waterbus station 'Fondamente Nove', so you won't need to drag your luggage for long !

Back a second time to his perfect apartment in a great location, away from the crowds

  • 5 of 5

We were back for a second visit in this great apartment and, once again, loved our stay here. We were very familiar with the great location of this apartment, but appreciated even more this time the quiet neighborhood, the great bakery right downstairs, and the quick walk to Fondamente Nove and a few great restaurants in the neighborhood (Antico Gatoletto and Osterria della Fresca). The walk to San Marco is only 15 min, and we always gladly escaped the crowds back to this quiet neighborhood. The apartment itself is perfect and it was great for a family of 4. And it was so nice and cool with the air conditioning (which worked great). Thank you again to Roberta for the hospitality and the great communication and help in getting us into the apartment. We hope to be back again!!

Beautiful home in peaceful area but close to main tourist areas and very easy to trains and airport

  • 5 of 5

Lovely large apartment, cool and comfortable with air con but access to roof with panoramic views. Very helpful host, excellent communication, lovely to be staying in the home of a Venetian and she supplied all the maps and guides we could need. The apartment is beautifully furnished and very well equipped with even torches, shopping bags and umbrellas, everything we could think of. The washing machine and drying line came in handy. It's situated in a nice quiet area, away from tourists but close to lovely restaurants, a supermarket, fruit and veg stall and with a bakery 2 min away. The Rialto Bridge was a 10 min walk, 25 min to St Marks. Transfer from the train station was easy - Roberta gave us clear instructions re which vaporetto (water bus) to get and met us at the stop to take us to the apartment which was a very short walk away, fine with suitcases. Likewise we found it easy to get to the airport from the same vaporetto stop.

The weather was very hot while we are in Venice and it was lovely to have a base to come back to for a rest when it got too hot and busy, then go to the main spots in the evening or early morning when the tourist mayhem had subsided.

Anytime we come back to Venice, we would love to stay here again.

Fabulous stay!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was lovely. There is a sweet patio off the kitchen and an amazing view from the rooftop. It's on a nice little square off the main drag, but an easy walk to all the action.

We were very pleased with its spaciousness, cleanliness and location

  • 4 of 5

Our grandson and my wife and I had a wonderful six nights in Venice last week. We very much enjoyed the sites, food, and the vrbo we stayed at. It was spacious, in a nice quiet location, and close to many very good restaurants. An added advantage was that the ferry from the airport stopped a short walk away. We would highly recommend Venice and this property.

Loved our stay at this charming, spacious and well-kept apartment

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in Roberta's flat for 3 nights, toward the end of Carnival, with our 2 elementary-aged daughters. The apartment is lovely and well-appointed--we had absolutely everything we needed, from the kitchen to the bedrooms. We received a warm welcome from Nicoletta, despite the fact that we took a vaporetto in the wrong direction and she had to wait extra long for us on a cold, drizzly afternoon. We found a bottle of wine and some treats for the girls waiting for us, as well as juice and water in the fridge. The apartment itself was clean and quiet, and just the place for relaxing at the end of a long day of walking. Spacious shower with plenty of hot water. The building was very quiet--we occasionally saw neighbors out and about, hanging laundry and going about their lives. The location was also wonderful--as another reviewer said, it is tucked away in a quiet part of Cannaregio but just a few blocks from the beginning of the busy tourist area on the way to Rialto and San Marco. In the other direction, it's just a short walk to a vaporetto stop. We had a lovely dinner one night at the neighborhood trattoria, just across the way--it was too cold for outdoor seating, so we heard nothing from the restaurant up in the apartment. We hope to make it back to Venice and have the chance to stay here again!

The apartment is located in Cannaregio, near the famous Churches of Miracoli and San Giovanni e Paolo, in an area where you can find good restaurants and trattorias (I recommend ' Trattoria Alla Frasca', 'Osteria di Santa Marina', 'Pizzeria da Alvise'. From the very near Fondamente Nuove waterbus station you can easily reach Murano (10 minutes navigation), Burano (40 minutes), Torcello, the Lido beach (20 munutes)

You can walk to Rialto bridge in 5 minutes and to St Mark's Square in 10 minutes. You find groceries shops, bakeries, pastry shops (I recommend 'Didovich' in Santa Marina square), and two supermarkets (one near Campo Santi Apostoli, one in Santa Marina)
