About the property

One Bedroom - 1 1/2 Baths - Two Story House W/ Porches Up & Down

Our fully renovated vintage cottage is located on Front Street and offers a large & very comfortable living and dining room area. The kitchen is fully equipped for your convenience. Laundry Room w/ stackable washer and dryer and ½ bath are also located on the first floor.

A quiet bedroom with a queen size bed is located on the second floor w/ full bath.

The second floor porch has wonderful water views. Live oak trees house many birds and envelope the area making the porch feel like a tree house. A very private and wonderful place to read, relax, reflect.

This cottage has been renovated to accommodate two guests.

It is a quick drive by car or bike ride, less than one mile, from our house to the Front Street Historic District which offers a selection of wonderful restaurants & bars, pool hall, museums, waterfront boardwalk with boats anchored from places unknown, coffee shops, wine bar, wonderful relaxed shopping, ferries to take you to the barrier islands and Cape Lookout.

Walking through the shaded streets brings you to the past with beautiful houses, some dating back 250 years or more. Houses owned by ship captains, merchants, fishermen & pirates. And let’s not forget the old Beaufort Burying Ground, one of the oldest cemeteries in North Carolina. It is not surprising that Beaufort, NC - has been voted the coolest small town in the United States.

Pirate Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit and it was just as wonderful as the first. Virginia is a sweetheart to rent from. My husband enjoyed fishing from the dock every afternoon. The location is so close to downtown just a short drive and away from the crowds. We are definitely looking forward to returning next year.

Perfectly quaint!

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with Beaufort three years ago when we passed through for a couple of days on our way to the Outer Banks. In researching a perfect week-long getaway for the summer, we were fortunate enough to find Carrot Island Cottage. Virginia is a delightfully hospitable hostess & the cottage was perfect for the two of us & our little boat. We are refreshed & relaxed from a week of boating, sightseeing & exploring this quaint little village with literally the friendliest people on earth! We have decided to make Beaufort our retirement home due to our stay at this adorable cottage. For two 50-somethings, this was our most perfect vacation ever!

Anniversary Trip

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I found this beautiful cottage and were able to book it for the week of our 32nd anniversary. Everything was there that was needed and then some. My husband loved being able to fish from the pier and the sunsets were awesome. Virginia treated us as if she had know us all our lives. We loved how close to town it was. We enjoyed walking the waterfront and taking a boat to the islands. We will most definitely stay here again.

40-something Honeymooners from Charleston, SC

  • 5 of 5

We eloped and chose to come stay a week at this cottage...and hope to return every year. The cottage is wonderfully peaceful. The views are beautiful; the kitchen is stocked and fully equipped; the bed is super comfortable (luxury sheets and towels); the whirlpool tub is relaxing and, my favorite part: the sunset view from the swing on the dock is breathtaking! The dock is great for morning coffee, too, because that's when the wild horses seemed to be out and about. We had fun walking around Beaufort - plenty of interesting shops and delicious restaurants to choose from and the owners made terrific recommendations. We walked around the marina and admired the fishing boats. We spent a day on the beach at Emerald Isle, took a tour of the local graveyard, and took an air tour of the crystal coast. The cottage is centrally located and filled with local maps, guides, magazines, books....everything you could possibly need is at hand. I truly cannot express what a wonderful week we had!

Beautiful Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 4 days in this quaint BEAUTIFUL cottage on Front street. Owners are very nice and very accommodating in meeting our every need. We enjoyed quiet evenings on the upstairs balcony watching the boats go by on Taylor's Creek. Very relaxing on the owner's boat dock at the end of the driveway. Charming decor in the clean, neat, well equipped cottage. Feels like home. Great location. One mile from downtown Beaufort. We will be returning to this cottage in the future! MANY THANKS to the very nice owners for sharing this property with vacationers!

Virginia & Bob lived in the Washington, DC area for many years. In 1994 they moved to Atlantic Beach as they both love the sun, sand and ocean.

Two years later they purchased a piece of land in Beaufort located on Front Street. The property included a deep water dock on Taylors Creek. The property also included a derelict one bedroom cottage, a barn and enough land to build a house. After building the family home, Virginia & Bob moved to Beaufort. The cottage was then beautifully renovated with an eye to comfort. Family, friends, and friends of friends have stayed at the cottage. Two couples have stayed at the cottage for their honeymoon. It is a great retreat from everyday life for those who come. The family has decided it is now time to offer the cottage to others so that they may find the wonderful experiences available in this area.

Beaufort By the Sea is a magic village. Come on down and watch the banker ponies run free on the islands that protect where we live and entices visitors to explore. Sunset sailing and early morning dolphin watch by boat are services offered right down the street.
