Recently remodelled, accommodates 4, 1Bdrm,1 Bath, garden and pool view

Perfect vacation rental, brand new and very clean, all tiled, 2nd floor, with a great size patio, overlooking a beautiful hawaiian garden with pool view. Our place has everything equipped in the kitchen for a perfect meal or drink. We visit our place every 6 months and we update all our towels, pillows and bedding on a regular basis. We have all you need to have a great day at the beach, chairs, umbrella, beach towels, cooler and children's beach toys. We are located directly across the street from Kamaole Beach II. You can also walk to Kamaole Beach I & III. We are located in the heart of the south maui tourist area, Wailea Mall shopping, world renown golf courses, restaurants, beaches and if you are looking for a peaceful time, you will find that too. Our condo/bldg has a barbecue, so help yourselves and enjoy the sunset every night across the street at the beach after dinner with some wine.

Clean, decent, perfect

We've never been anyplace like Maui so we were late to book, nevertheless Donna accepted our application and made us feel assured about confirmation.

Our first impression was arriving on a midnight cheap flight to the sprinklers and frogs hopping around the grounds in the dark as we found the building amongst the dozen or so on the property. The unit is a 2nd floor walk-up with outside staircase, a landing common with one side-neighbor, and continuing upstairs to two more units. There are neighbors left & right, above & below, but the place was very peaceful. The unit keys are kept in a secure lockbox on the door. It seemed safer than bringing them with us so whenever we left, we found it convenient to leave the unit keys in the same lockbox.

The unit is about 600 sq. ft., and the entire floor surface is tiled which is perfect. Hard, durable, and easy to clean. All the appliances were clean & worked good, no bugs anywhere, beds were comfortable & adequate towels.

The main point of Hawaii is the beaches and there's a fantastic one right across the road. On MVC (Maui Visitor's Channel) on the TV they had a top-10 list of beaches, but honestly they are all pretty much the same & in that case the best one is the closest one. We had a great time playing in the surf all morning, clean up was at the shower by the lifeguard station and also another rinse station by the attendant shack at the entrance to the complex. There is no reason to drag sand anywhere, furthermore, there is a pool onsite (that you walk past) where you could have a quick dunk to remove any last vestiges of sand before you get back to the condo unit.

The A/C worked good, there is a timer dial behind the TV that supplies it power and a remote control to turn it on or off. We only needed it the first day, afterward we pulled down the big shade on the balcony during the day which kept the unit cool enough that we didn't really need the A/C any more.

The laundry costs I think $1.75 for the washing machine and 25 cents for the dryer, probably 6 minutes at a time. We didn't wind up using the facility, we brought enough clothes for our one week that we just took our laundry home dirty.

The pool is good but they closed it for servicing on our last day. We got a snorkel set at the Foodland store for $7 (rental is about $7) and practiced in the pool, which may be against the rules, but we did it when nobody was there and didn't get caught. We lost it twice in the surf - suggest don't rent.

Would not recommend

My adult daughter and I stayed here for 3 weeks, but we would not stay at this place again or recommend to others. The unit is as pictured but the main reason for not returning here is that we did not receive our damage deposit back even though we did not damage to the unit. At first the owner said we brought too much sand into the unit (I am still totally surprised and puzzled over that accusation), and then we were suddenly responsible for the unit's plumbing problems as well (despite the kitchen sink would not drain the first time we used it and the tub was slow draining from the very beginning of our stay). We spent the third day out of our vacation with phone calls, running back and forth to the office for instructions on what to do about the kitchen sink not draining, then waiting for the repairman to install the new garbuerator which turned out to be the problem. The whole scenario leaves a bad feeling. As a seasoned traveller I have never before encountered such a problem. The owner would not return phone calls or emails and has not contacted us again, as she promised, regarding the damage deposit. However, the rest of our stay in Maui at other accommodations close by turned out to be an equally if not better location, much quieter, and less money.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately, in all of the 11 years of owing this property we have never had any issues with anybody. When this client left our maid sent us a letter, stating that in all of her 25 years working as a maid, (she has been our maid since day 1), she has never encountered so much sand in a condo. To the point where she rented a pro vac from Home Depot to clean up the mess. Not to mention that our bathtub was plugged up by so much sand that we needed to call a plumber to suck out and clean the drain. So with all this, the damage deposit of $250.00 did not cover the total for the clean up. We trust everybody in our home and we hope that anyone that uses our home will treat it like their own. We are sorry that this happened but this could have been 100% preventable if the client cared, as for the kitchen sink, we understood the plumber came to look at it because the client tried to put bones in the garb-orator.

Perfect is the right word!

This property had it all! Right across from the beach, peaceful balcony with evening sun, King Size bed (and VERY comfortable), updated bathroom, great kitchen area, relaxing pool area with palm trees all around, and every local amenity you may need within walking distance (or a short bus ride). Clean, comfortable, and located in a great unit of the complex.
