Clean, comfortable and quiet

  • 4 of 5

This is the perfect location to be when you are exploring Door County. It is a very nice house down a country road with the owner close by to take care of any needs. Mike was very accommodating to check in/out times, as well as being very pleasant to work with. The highlight of our time spent was a fish boil at White Gull Inn in Fish Creek as well as the lighthouse in Bailey's Harbor.

Ideal Couples Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The Spring Road home was perfect for our couples getaway. The house was in pristine condition, with everything we needed, from the full kitchen to linens and towels. All we needed to bring was soap, shampoo and toothpaste. When we arrived, Mike showed us the house, and even had a fire in the fireplace! The huge kitchen island was perfect for sitting around at the end of the day, enjoying a bottle of wine and good conversation with friends. The home is centrally located, making it an easy drive in any direction for sightseeing. We especially liked hiking at the Ridges. Washington Island was a disappointment, as we expected a more quaint environment similar to the towns in Door County itself. We did enjoy School House Beach, however. It is one of only a handful of limestone beaches in the world and was worth the visit to the island. The only downside to our trip was the mosquitoes, especially on the ferry trip to Washington Island. Be sure to bring your bug spray! If you are looking for a quiet location for an adult getaway, I highly recommend the Spring Road home.

Meticulously Maintained Peaceful and Secluded Home, Yet Close to Everything

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son, daughter-in-law and I stayed at this wonderful home over and extended new year's weekend. There was plenty of room for the four of us and we were very impressed with how clean and well-maintained this house is. The owner was very accommodating and even had Christmas lights set-up on the front porch and deck and had a few decorations in the house. We went snow shoeing right out the back door the day we arrived and returned home to enjoy the wonderful fireplace in the living room. The kitchen has everything you could think of - even a cabinet filled with spices! We prepared most meals at home and enjoyed a great meal at Wild Tomato one evening. This home is centrally located, close to Peninsula State Park, Door County Auditorium, Hands On Studio, Stone's Throw Winery and many other area attractions and parks. We've been coming to Door County for many, many years and typically stay at a different accommodations so we can try new places. This is one place we plan to return to, not only because of its location, privacy, and access to parks and hiking trails, but also because Mike, the owner, really cares about his home and making sure his guests are comfortable.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I are in our 60's and we have been traveling to Door County for vacations for at least the past 12 years. We have stayed at so many rentals (never more than once), but we have found our favorite place and will be returning whenever we visit DC. Mike and his dog Lucy greeted us on arrival and showed us around the house and property. The house was exceptionally clean and spacious. We had our own bedroom and bathroom and all the comforts of home. We felt so safe and secure at the house that we didn't even lock the doors during our absences into town for shopping and dining. Mike recommended the Bayside Tavern in Fish Creek and it didn't disappoint. The house is close to downtown Fish Creek and all the surrounding towns. We also went to the Peninsula Player's Theater which is located about 5 minutes away. It was great to wake up in the morning to find deer surrounding the house and feeding at the bird feeder that Mike keeps filled for them. We also enjoyed the wrap around deck and the furniture was very comfortable. My only complaint would be that the TV's need to be upgraded to HD and have separate boxes so you could watch different programs. (Whatever was on in the living room was what was on the other two TV's.) However, it was definitely the best place and most relaxing of any other place we rented in DC. We will not be looking for anywhere else on our future visits because this is where we will always stay in DC. Thanks so much to Mike and Lucy.

Pleasant getaway spot

  • 4 of 5

Home is surrounded by pretty trees and yard. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and relaxing. Everything you need in home is provided by thoughtful owner. Property is very clean and neatly kept. It is situated close to nearby towns in a convenient yet quiet location. Decor is retro and reminded our daughter- in- law of her grandmother's house which was welcoming and comforting to her. Overall we had a very pleasant stay. It was too short and we look forward to returning someday.
