Winter means 15 minutes to sledding, less than 10 minutes to (indoors) Jay Lively Ice Rink, 20 minutes to Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort. Or just play in the huge yards, hills and woods behind our house! We call it Camp Caribou, you will call it HOME and return again and again!
8 Minutes to Downtown Flagstaff
10 minutes to NAU
20 minutes to Snowbowl Ski Resort
40 Minutes to Sedona
90 Minutes to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon
Both of us are from the midwest and fell in love with all Flagstaff has to offer. Our kids went to NAU and ASU so we know what the town offers - we are outdoors people, love Wupatki, Walnut Canyon, Lake Mary, putzing around downtown, Nordic cross country, sledding with the kids. Up here a week in the spring/summer /fall, you should do a day trip to Grand Canyon and to Lake Powell. After 31 years traveling AZ, Flagstaff is the perfect getaway spot for us, not a lot of people but plenty to do. Or just read on the back porch, have a glass of wine and listen to the wind in the trees!
Janet purchased this house in 2004
We always experience a sense of true relaxation and love the fresh air and pines. This is the forest and mountains in the middle of town. Very chill, kickback and lazy/cozy place to get away. Read "about you" and you'll get it....
On our South-side backyard, we buffer the National Forest, and below that is a grade school and junior high with playgrounds and ball fields well below us to the South. Our lot is nearly twice the size of others around us and very private and relaxing, with 2-mile views off the back deck and kitchen. Front living room has large windows that view Mt. Eldon, which is immediately to our North. And yet - this place is right in the middle of the city of Flagstaff. You want to get a gourmet meal, take in a movie or a seasonal event, you come and go in less than 20 minutes!
We had two families with a total of 7 people stay over thanksgiving to visit with a family member who attends NAU. The house was perfect- very clean and comfortable. It is in a great location with wonderful views. Thank you for sharing your home and for a wonderful weekend!
Some friends and I came up for NAU's Homecoming weekend and this place was perfect! Plenty of space and it's very quick and easy to get downtown or to campus. Link and Janet are very easy to coordinate with.
I couldn't be happier with our decision to rent this property for my 30th birthday weekend. We arrived to a clean and cozy home with everything we needed. The owners kept in contact with me throughout the weekend to ensure our stay was great. I had a group of 6 and not one of us wanted to leave. The views are amazing and the weather was perfect for our stay. I will definitely stay again!
"Wow!" "This place is amazing!" "I love it here!" "Can we live here forever???" There were all phrases our family exclaimed within the first few minutes of entering this beautiful vacation home! We were a family of 9, 6 adults and 3 children, and this place could not possibly have been more perfect. Massive living room, outstanding bright kitchen with everything you'd find in your own home and more. Fantastic deck with a full size grill that we made great use of. Great backyard and school playground a hop skip and jump away for the kiddos. We all took turns on the air hockey game downstairs! We were greeted with a lovely welcome gift from the owners (that the adults enjoyed ;-) There was no A/C but we never missed it, as we had the windows open whenever we were there, and were incredibly comfortable. Janet and Link could not have been better hosts. We didn't want to leave! We will definitely be back, thank you for such a memorable stay!
This home is located in a peaceful community of up-dated, well-cared for homes. Lots of mature oaks and Ponderosa pines. Views of Mt. Eldon fill the great room windows. Minutes away from the great attractions and restaurants Flagstaff has to offer. This was also an ideal location for day trips (we recommend taking the train from Williams to Grand Canyon, renting ATVs in Sedona, Slide Rock State Park, the canyon tour of Canyon de Chelly). Although it was 112 degrees in Phoenix, the mornings at this home were 60 degrees and the evenings cooled down quickly. There is a covered deck on which you will want to enjoy all of your meals and family bonding times. This home is bright, spacious and very clean. There are three full baths, two of which were recently beautifully remodeled. The living quarters on the lower level is "a teenager's heaven" according to our teen. Everything you could possibly need was provided. The towels were plush, and the beds and great room sofas were comfortable. Communication with the home owners was exceptional from start to finish. We would not consider staying anywhere else if we were to return to the Northern Arizona area.
We just returned from our stay here and loved every minute of it! The home is very spacious, clean, and beautiful! The minute we walked in the door and saw the large living room with a vaulted ceiling, big leather couches, and a large flat screen TV, my teenage boys let out a cheer!
The kitchen is very spacious too with 5 bar stools and also a table that seats 6. I loved the many windows in the kitchen and nook that look out onto the beautiful pine trees! It feels like you're in a cabin in the woods! The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need and the fridge comes with all the basic condiments. The laundry room is great and comes with plenty of detergent & dryer sheets.
The beds are very comfy and the 4 bedrooms are perfect for a large family to spread out! The 3 bathrooms (including 3 showers) is a luxury and mean no one has to wait for a shower! The downstairs couch, TV, and air hockey table are a bonus! We had kids having fun all over this house!
It is close enough to downtown Flagstaff (10 mins) but removed straight up the mountain in a quiet neighborhood so you feel like you're at a vacation cabin! Yet there are grocery stores and restaurants minutes away for all your needs!
Best of all, the owners are wonderful to work with! They are quick to reply to any email or text and happy to answer any questions! We are trying to think of another excuse to come back soon and rent this place again! We will definitely be back! : )
