Why Doug Weigand chose Lakehead

The scenic beauty of Mt. Shasta has always drawn us to the Shasta Region. This home offered a convenient and picturesque location with all of the modern conveniences. But topping off the property with Upper Sacramento River Frontage made it a special piece of property. We are still in process of clearing the property for a view of and easy access to the river.

Lake Shasta, with access within minutes in Lakehead, provides world class fishing, boating, water skiing, and one of the most famous wake board and Bass lakes in the nation. Easy access to Redding with all of your shopping needs and other services that adds convenience to your vacation. Mt. Shasta and Dunsmuir provides a small town adventure with unique shops, restaurants, and Mt. Shasta Resort golf course. Mt. Shasta Board & Ski Park provides a variety of winter activities.

Repeat Renters

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year renting this beautiful home. Thank- you so much for allowing dogs to stay on your property,

they are our fur babies and enjoy the private beach area as much as we do. We have stayed at other properties over the years and I must say this is the best well kept home we have rented. Hope to return next year !

A winner

  • 5 of 5

Our 2014 Christmas was quite a memorable experience. The location was perfect – backdrop of Mt. Shasta, equidistant to both Redding and the snow parks, a huge back yard bordering the forest, and an easy access to the river. The house itself is charming – well equipped, well kept. Clean, comfortable rooms, well-lit and heated, plenty of clean linens with the kitchen well-stocked with the basics.

Doug, the owner, was extremely courteous and caring. He called me to say that the wifi may be spotty because of some issues. I’m glad to say that was not the case. He took care to set the dining table very charmingly for Christmas eve because of our late arrival. It was delightful.

But I believe, our dog, says a big Woof! (than you) to Doug – the huge backyard, and the long deck was an absolute delight to our golden.

I also want to add that the neighbor was very helpful too. He took his time to show us the way to the river, and let us use his property to access it. This place is certainly a winner.

Secluded & Roomy for our Family

  • 5 of 5

We had wonderful, relaxing, and secluded vacation with our 2 kids and their spouses. This house is very clean, newly-appointed, and spacious with a large deck and plenty of room for our 6 adults to roam around. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner out on the deck, and the "tankless" gas BBQ is a plus. The river nearby for swimming or fishing is beautiful....yes, we caught a few. Doug was a very attentive owner, and he checked in with us to ensure everything was okay. He also sent us a very detailed list of all the things to do in the area....very handy. We hiked at Castle Crag, fished nearby, hiked near Whiskeytown, saw Shasta Caverns....there's enough to do that you will want to go back again.

Great fishing vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just completed our week long stay and thought it was perfect for what we wanted. The property is big and private with nice views from the large back patio. We have never visited the area of Lake Shasta and the only real negative you should be aware of is it can get real hot. Fortunately the neighbor allows access to the river watering hole. It's a slice of heaven that we had all to ourselves and without it the vacation would have been way too hot.. Kids would swim and ride boogie boards down the river. The temperature drops 20 degrees when down there. Bring good water shoes and a canopy. The neighbor was more than helpful with making our stay pleasant and he even loaned us some rafts.

This home is clean, fully loaded with modern amenities and plenty big for 2 families. We were a little concerned about the proximity to the train and although you will hear it there was never an annoying moment. For us it added to the charm of the mountain getaway. The 1909 bridge along the river makes for a great American art piece.

With a short 10 minute drive to lake head and 30 minutes to Redding it was perfect for a great fishing vacation. The lower sac is one if the best fisheries I've enjoyed and will sure to be back in the fall for the salmon and steelhead.
