About Carol Eliasen
Welcome! I'd like to invite you to stay with me and my small terrier dog Iki, at our wonderful 110 year old house in our lovely Maine. When I found myself retired and alone after many happy years with a loving companion, I decided I wanted to settle in Maine, where I had spent many lovely weekends and vacations over the past 30 years. Looking at realty on-line, I kept being drawn to this much too big, much too run down old house in Rockland (one of my favorite towns). It just kept calling me. After some investigation I found out it was built over 110 years ago in 1905, was solid but needed a lot of TLC. After a two year top to bottom renovation, both the house and I were happier and younger. When I finally had the time to put in a new garden, she was at last a bright, happy house both inside and out. But it was a big house for just iki and I, so I decided to do some summer rentals and I was surprised and delighted to find how much I enjoyed sharing my lovely old house. I've made many new friends, had lots of great conversations, and my guests seem to enjoy staying with Iki and I, which makes me happy. I hope you enjoy our home as much as I do if you come to stay.

Why Carol Eliasen chose Rockland
I chose Rockland because it is uniquely Maine. Lobster fishing is one of our main industries, and it leaves its mark on our town. Rockland’s citizens are hard working family oriented people who are proud of their town. You can hear it in their voices when they tell you about it, and they will gven any encouragement. But we also have a long, strong tradition of art and and business creativity, which you will see when you visit our downtown area. While you are here visit the Farnsworth Museum which houses the Wyeth collection. It’s a great little town! I think our house offers the best location for exploring and relaxing. We are out of the traffic and bustle of downtown Rockland in the summer, combined with the convenience of being only 3-4 minutes by car or, better yet 15-20 minutes on foot from the excitement of Rockland's activities. It's an easy car ride to many of the best sites on the mid-coast. The house is roomy, friendly and comfortable, welcoming you back after a busy day exploring our beautiful coastal Maine.
What makes this Apartment unique
One of our benefits is being so near to the ocean at Snow Marina, which is minutes walk away for relaxing at the end of the day. its a great place for children who need a place to run free, fly a kite or visit the Children’s Museum. It’s also a great place to walk a dog, as my terrier iki will tell you. It’s her favorite place to walk no matter what the weather is like. According to iki, it may be raining in the backyard but if I will just take her to the park the weather will be beautiful! We are conveniently located to start your day trips to explore the area. It's only a 15 minute drive to Birch Point State Park, which has one of the best swimming and hiking beach in this area, Lucia Beach and there are four lighthouses and miles of coastal scenery to enjoy. In short, we have everything you need to have a perfect vacation in beautiful coastal Maine.

We loved our stay in Rockland and the apartment was perfect for the New England/Maine experience! Everything was so well done, the decor was amazing! We love the area which provided great walks to the harbor & restaurant. Carol was so helpful in recommending sights and dining experiences. We were able to enjoy so many things that the region provided & probably would not have been able to discover these places without her help. The home is so welcoming and Carol was a great hostess!
Thank you very much for the lovely review! I’m glad I was able to add to your enjoyment of Maine. It really is a lovely area, one that I never tire of being a part of. Please come again, soon. You are always welcome.
5 Stars all the way. Very nice host and facilities. We were 2 couples visiting the mid-coast of Maine (Camden/Rockport, Acadia NP, Belfast, etc.) Very good location & value for our trip. Would recommend Carol's house to any couples, families, or small groups.
Thank you very much for the great review. It describes what I hope to provide- a comfortable base to let you explore Coastal Maine from. Please come again if you have an urge to see Maine again. You would all be most welcome anytime.
Had an excellent stay at Carol’s house in Rockland. Great location! Check- & check-out super easy. Everything you need for a short stay is there. Comfortable and clean!

Great property and owner
What can we say... Carol’s home was perfect for us. We were three friends experiencing Maine for the first time and staying here was perfect. Carol has thought of everything a person would need, the House was located close to everything and Carol have lots of helpful ideas. You won’t go wrong staying here.

Located in the Historic South End of Rockland, the house is a convenient 15-20 minute walk to town (3-4 minutes by car) and our small town beach at Sandy Beach Park. It's also a 3-4 minute walk to the Snow Marina and park, home of the Sail, Steam and Power Marine Museum and the Coastal Children's Museum, and a real working ship repair yard. The Marina is a Public Boat Launch with the cove on one side and a big green park on the other side for walking the dog or kids, watching the boats, or enjoying a beautiful Maine morning or evening sunset. For the hardy, locals swim off the docks on hot days. It provides us with fresh ocean breezes all day.
The South End offers easy car access to Maine sites worth visiting several times. Owlshead Lighthouse (10 minutes or so) for great views and, of course, the lighthouse. Lucia Beach at Birch Point State Park (15 minutes) has a beautiful beach for the best ocean swimming in the area, with woods on either side for walks, sunning on the surrounding rock ledges (nice and flat). Port Clyde (20 minutes or so) for fishing and rental of kayaks or seeing it's lighthouse, and Thomaston (10 minutes), a sweet quaint little Maine town.
On the other side of town you are heading north to Rockport and Camden, 20 minutes away by car, for some of the best shopping and antiquing or keep going north as far as you want for a truly lovely scenic drive.
Rockland itself is a fun and activity filled destination. The town has free parking, with easy walking to numerous art galleries, the Farnsworth Museum, Wyeth Center Museum, Lighthouse Museum, and lots of fun small shops. It has cafes with internet, a great bakery, the vintage Strand Theatre with live entertainment and off-beat movies, great pubs and some good of the best restaurants on the coast. It has an active in-town harbor area, and slightly outside of downtown is the walkable mile-long Rockland Lighthouse Breakwater. It also provides access to ferries to the Islands and booking sailing or ocean fishing day trips.
Walk from your apartment to any of the following festivals held in Rockland's Harbor Park: North Atlantic Blues Festival in July, the annual Lobster Festival the first week of August and the Maine Boats and Harbor Show in mid-August. The nearby town of Thomaston has an old fashion 4th of July celebration with a parade, barbaque and booths (10 minute drive), or visit the Maine Wild Blueberry Festival in August at the Union Common Ground Fair (45 minute drive).
It's easy to while away a morning or afternoon in Rockland downtown in between these more adventurous activities, and it always has an ocean breeze even on those surprisingly hot Maine summer days.
