Enjoyable, very clean stay with a beautiful view but a bit outdated

  • 3 of 5

Stayed here for Spring Break and had a very good time, the view was awesome. The house was very comfortable and had a cabin type feel. The house had all the amenities of a home including a porch, internet and a grill. Conveniently located to grocery stores and shops. We are lucky we only had 7 in our family because thats all there was room for, it does not sleep 10- only up to 9 if the sleeper sofa works. The beds were comfortable. The sleeper sofa in the living room absolutely did not work so the 7th person slept on the couch. Make sure you stagger your showers because the water heater will run out quickly although they inform you of this once you are there, not before. The place is a bit outdated as far as TV's, they need to be upgraded but we were not there to sit and watch TV all day. The pool table is only a 3/4 sized table with no cue ball. There are plenty of pillows but not enough pillow cases for them. Overall, our family enjoyed the Spring Break trip here.

Spacious, Clean and Warm. Desperately needs a makeover.

Spent our Christmas here with my two teenage (17&13) kids. The place looked great... from outside.

Inside...Omg. I am no decorator, however, (full disclosure) I am a Gen. Building Conttractor, but when I walked into this house, it was like going back in time, 20+ years! The first time I flushed the toilet in the master bath, the handle (and chain) broke. When I removed the top of toilet, the parts were compleatly rusted, so I used the half-bath upstairs.

Technology, even in a rustic setting is important when you have teens. The living room tv, was a rear-projection type that was too old to have the proper jacks to connect our modern electronic devices, that means no Netflix, no Apple TV (which I brought with us), no connecting a computer, nada! On Christmas Eve, we drove down to Carson City and bought a 65" flat screen, Dad saved what could have been a disasterous holiday. The TV's in bedrooms were the old heavy tube type. Those of you with kids will understand.

It would have been helpful if, along with the keys, we were trusted with a garage door opener! The temp was in the low teens and my son didn't appreciate having to go around the snow-covered deck, go through the front door, walk completely through the house to open and close the garage door.

For the price I payed, which I'm sure went way up for the holidays, I could have gotten a suite at a hotel, if I had booked months in advance...however, I only booked weeks in advance. Mea Culpa!

I come from Hawaii, where we are very tolerant and forgiving, but it is obvious that NO money has been reinvested into this property, in decades. None of the above may matter to a lot of people, who are just looking for a warm, spacious place to gather with a large group. Another disappointment was the view, naming the street "Lakeview" was a stretch, and the small hot tub in the garage was also curious.
