About the property

Both Bedrooms Have Whirlpool Oversize Tubs And Private Full Baths

A real log home! Three level cabin with bedrooms and full bathrooms containing showers on 1st and 3rd floors. The first floor has a private den with gas fireplace and foosball table. An efficiency kitchen is also located on the first level. The sofa in this den pulls out to a double bed.

The living room, full kitchen, dining room, utility room and half bath room are on the middle level. The living room has a flat screen TV and a gas fireplace with a leather reclining sofa. Both bedrooms have flat screen TVs and large whirlpool tubs. Each level has a deck which almost overhangs the waterfall. There is a landline telephone, and internet connections. Each TV is connected to cable. The cabin is on a slightly inclined road about 1000 feet from a major highway so there is no need to worry about weather. City water so there is no oder or staining.

About Donnalee May

My wife and I are empty nesters. I own a printing business in Columbia, South Carolina where I was born and raised. We can't get away as much as we would like although we have had some great memories at our 'Up The Creek'. I know your stay could be just as memorable.

Donnalee May purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Donnalee May chose East

It is easy to get to. It overlooks a waterfall that can be viewed from a freshly drained and refilled hot tub. Its hard to find a veiw as beautiful. You can expect no unpleasent suprises with our cabin.

Little Piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was excellent; there were only a couple of issues that need to be addressed. One, the thermostat down in the basement is locked and to get it comfortable down there it was too warm in the rest of the house and in the 1/2 bath the lady bugs were AWFUL!!!. There were live ones as well as dead in there. And also there is some kind of critter whether it is a mouse or something else the roof above the bedroom on the top floor. Other than those few things it was wonderful; didn't want to come home.

Owner's Response: It was lady bug season and since we have not had any rain, the lady bugs have multiplied. We do have pest control spraying twice a month to try to keep them out although exterminating then is against the law. The critter on the roof was not inside. There is no cavity between the ceiling and the shingles, just solid insulation, so there is no place for a critter. I apologize that you had these problems although we are doing as much as we can to eliminate the issue. It is very common in Pigeon Forge. The county actually released millions to take care of a Beatle problem that existed. Thank you for staying with at Up the Creek.

Relaxing and Wonderful!

  • 4 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Up the Creek. This cabin is actually like two cabins in one. There is a very spacious master suite on the top floor with a balcony. The main floor features the main kitchen, dining room, living room, front and back porches. The bottom level features a queen size bed along with a sleeper sofa and kitchenette and is also complete with a third balcony with an amazing view.

This cabin is in a resort complex so you do have close neighbors but we heard none of them. The resort itself is very serene and well kept. It is off a very busy road (Wears Valley Road) which can be noisy at times when outside. This cabin is a ten minute at most drive to the Parkway and a five minute drive to the nearest grocery store. My family and I have decided when we do come back to Pigeon Forge we will be staying in this cabin again.

I do have a few very minor complaints. We noticed when we first arrived that the thermostats had lock boxes on them so there was no adjusting the air. Also we stayed for over a week but only had one small outside garbage can and no reference to a resort dumpster to dump overflow trash, only instructions to not leave outside because of wildlife. Also a concern I had because I am a mother of a small child is the hot water temperature, which gets extremely hot. As I said these are all minor and easily fixed complaints just wanted to make note so they could be addressed for the next vacationers.

I absolutely loved my time at Up the Creek and did not want to leave! I would highly recommend staying here to any family because of its centralized location and amenities.

Nice stay

  • 4 of 5

Overall, this place was awesome. Lovely view from all four porches is great. This is not the place if you are looking for a view of the mountains but the view on the street is very pleasant and the view from the back porches is beautiful with the waterfall and River just below. The location cannot be beat. It's under 10 minutes to downtown Pigeon Forge and a very simple Drive. We really enjoyed our stay. The interior is awesome. Plenty of room for my family of 5. Lots of privacy as well. Our only concerns were the fact that the pool had burned down three months earlier and no one brought that to our attention prior to our arrival. I think that was a bit Shady. The other criticism I would have, and it's minor, is that the kitchen is not equipped for cooking. If you decide to stay here, I suggest you bring your own pots and pans. They were a beast to try and keep clean. The only other concern was that the condensation from the air conditioner soaks the carpet and we had to get a Shop-Vac out and vacuum that four or five times a day. I'm sure that is something that can be fixed permanently but for now will continue to be a problem. For the price, I would say it's average to high. Especially considering there is no pool. But a very pleasant stay overall.

Pick this one!!

  • 5 of 5

Enjoy your morning coffee while listening to the waterfall below...I did this everyday during our stay.

Absolutely loved the decor of this cabin, very comfortable and inviting with a well equipped kitchen. It's secluded enough to be peaceful but conveniently located to all the main attractions. Donnalee was great to work with so we'll definitely stay here again.

Love the location and the three levels of the cabin

  • 4 of 5

We had a great little get away from the stresses of regular life :). We loved the three levels making it feel like we had two different cabins. The hot tub on the main level was great. That way you didn't feel like you were intruding in peoples privacy when going to it. Awesome kitchen, very well stocked. Great having a nice grill. Loved the view of the waterfall as long as you were looking at the water. If you were looking from the lowest level the bank, on up the hill to the cabin it was horrible. There was trash every. An Old air condition and sewage pipe with overgrowth all around. The patio with three benches to go sit by the water looked great from afar but once you tried to follow the path there (which was so overgrown you basically had to climb through bushes to get through) was so neglected. All the plants, the whole area was neglected. From the "could be nice" wooden benches to the wooden rails that were so loose they were not far from clasping. That part was disappointing because we love nature and hoped to have a great walk to the waterfalls. Instead I felt we needed to get a cleanup crew and a landscaper out there to help out. You hope to see nothing but beauty from your cabin. When the waterfall is advertised as a big plus for renting the cabin. You just expect it and all around it being just as beautiful. One other thing the down stair shower had no light. You had to take a shower and try to shave in the complete darkness which is nearly impossible. Making everyone have to share one shower upstairs. The bed downstairs was extremely uncomfortable. One thing being because the topper would not stay on the bed, nor the sheets. I hope this information was helpful. As an owner I would want to know these things and better my cabin for my guest. We honestly had a wonderful trip but wanted you to be aware of what was brought to our attention. We would definitely recommend you guys and would rent from you in the future.

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved the cabin! My teenage boys were so excited to have the river just outside the back door. They were also thrilled to have their own space in the basement. The 3 floors make the cabin very private with the master upstairs. Loved the decks off of each level! We were in town for a Cal Ripken baseball tournament. The location was close and just far away from the main drag. The cabin was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch but didn't get to use the hot tub (it was way to hot outside to even consider it!) but would love to visit in the fall to take advantage of it and enjoy the changing of colors. The owner was friendly and accommodating for our needs. Overall, a great visit! If we ever get back to the area, this is where we will stay!!
