The Windrift House is a recently remodeled 4 bedroom, 2 bath gem which offers breathtaking views in every direction. Picture windows flank the entire north side of the home, from the mudroom through the kitchen on into the living and dining room and in the Master bedroom, offering stunning views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge features one of the world's longest natural sand spits which leads to the New Dungeness Lighthouse. From the south side of the home, the Olympic Mountains can be seen in all their grandeur. Curl up by the fireplace and enjoy sipping your coffee while watching the myriad of wildlife, from eagles soaring, and seals playing to the deer grazing on the lush lawn and surrounding gardens. Follow the path leading to the beach for unlimited beach combing and clam digging when the tide is out, or launch your own kayak or SUP board. Beautiful setting and house, terrible property managers

My experience renting this property was plagued with problems nearly from the onset and did not improve throughout our stay. I've leased four different properties from VRBO and Home Away and never encountered problems like those I had with the leasing agents for this property. Lyle from Brigadoon Sequim Vacation Rentals (BSVR) boasted they only use VRBO and Home Away as an advertising tool and are not bound by the same rules. The first agent I spoke with (Amy) at BSVR was helpful enough, but when I drove to their office to ask for help in finding an additional house to accommodate the number of guests, Lyle informed me it was way too much work. I found a second house myself online and it turned out to be a dream in comparison. Secondly, out of the blue, I received a very aggressive and hostile call from a woman at BSVR accusing me of planning to bring a dog-- I didn't know what she was talking about. The same woman asked me for my driver's license number and date of birth (which I gave), and then she demanded my Social Security Number (which I refused to give). In a subsequent call, I was told that even though the house slept 8 people, I could only have 6 or they would charge an additional $100. They also demanded to know how many cars would be there. I had been honest since the onset that I was unsure how many people would be staying, so this nasty call was the deciding factor and I chose to spend as little time here as possible. In fact, I felt so unwelcome and threatened, we ate all our meals at the other house and my 6 guests stayed for only one night, even though I rented it for 3. Finally, I called Lyle the day before our arrival to ask if we could come in between 1:00 - 2:00 PM to get the key, and when we arrived at 1:20, Lyle had just left to run errands. The accounting person who was there was friendly, but could not give us the key. When Lyle returned nearly half an hour later, he unapologetically handed me a scary "Notice of Naturally Hazardous Condition" and said I needed to sign. Customer service and common courtesy are apparently not on his agenda. As far as the house goes, it was comfortable with an amazing view sitting on very nice property - but it would benefit greatly from some TLC. (ex: I personally sewed a tie-back onto seat cushion because I was afraid BSVR would blame it on us. Also, the panel under the kitchen sink fell off and we had to put it back on. The exterior property light was burned out.

Owner's Response: It is unfortunate that you felt you had a terrible renting experience, however, the following statements are completely untrue and misleading. Upon your first contact with our company through VRBO, you inquired about three of our homes. We explained the rental rates for each of the homes at that time and also spent quite a bit of time on several phone conversations explaining the benefits/comparisons of each of the homes trying to best fit your needs. At that time you indicated that your guests would be between 4 and 8 guests. Each of our homes has a base rental rate with cost for additional guests up to the max guest allowance above that base rental cost. We had many conversations regarding this and the conversation that you referred to in your review did take place however, we did not say you could not have 8 guests, we simply said that the base rate was $250 for 6 guests with each additional guest $25/night. We have base rates to keep costs lower for smaller groups of guests, all of which was explained at great length to you on the phone in a very gracious manner. The questions we ask regarding information needed to complete a reservation are never “demanded”, they are simply asked as part of our process. The number of cars, for example, is information needed due to capacity at each home being different. You did come to the office requesting that we drive you around to each of these homes and also take you to other VRBO listings that you were interested in. Lyle explained that it is not our policy to drive guests around to preview homes and homes that we don’t even rent. However, Amy did follow up with you by phone with options and that is when you decided to book the Windrift house for 6 guests/3 nights even though at the time you indicated that your guests would only possibly be there for one night as you were “still not sure”. If you remember, you were looking at SEVERAL VRBO homes, many of which are not in our inventory of homes. We feel you have mixed up some phone conversations as we NEVER contacted you regarding a dog and we would NEVER ask for a date of birth or social security number. A driver’s license is only asked for at the time of check in never over the phone. So your statement is completely false. We believe you have confused much of your information with other conversations you may have had with other homeowners you rented from. We hope that you will take the time to sort out your facts as you have defamed our business.

Fabulous getaway for longtime friends

Mothers and daughters, all seniors, were thrilled with this wonderful place. The views are incredible, the garden has many finches, hummingbirds, etc. and deer walk across the yard. this place gave us privacy, ease of access, convenience and calm and we all would definitely love to stay again.

Perfect Getaway

I could easily see staying there for an extended period. The house was immaculate and the kitchen was stocked with every gadget you could want. The view was spectacular whether you were sitting at the kitchen table, hanging out in the living-room or snuggling in the master bedroom. The house is far enough out to feel special and in the "country" yet close enough to the town and other activities to be convenient. I could see visiting again as a girls weekend, family reunion or group of friends gathering. The person taking care of the place went out of their way to make us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend a visit.

The Windrift House

My family came flew in from all over the country to celebrate our Mother's 90th Birthday here at this beautiful house! We were SO happy with all of the wonderful amenities: the gourmet kitchen, the two separate bedroom wings (LOVED the Master bedroom), the cozy living room with fireplace-all with amazing views out to Dungeness Spit! It was Presidents Day weekend, so not ALOT of sun, but we still thoroughly enjoyed all of the great activities that Sequim has to offer! When we weren't gallivanting around, we stayed nice and warm: playing games, making dinners and loving the quiet solitude of the home out on the bluff. Thank you and my family will definitely be back (perhaps in the Summer for the Lavender Festival)!

On the VRBO advertising site we have numerous vacation rentals that we manage.
All check-ins for balances paid, home locations and Keys will be issued upon arrival at our office located directly behind the Sequim Visitor Center on Washington St at 61 N Rhodefer Rd, Sequim WA.
A current identification (Photo id) will be required at check in. Rental agreements will be signed and issued as well as any supporting documents when required.
Locations of the homes will not be provided beforehand due to our ongoing security and privacy policy.
All keys are to returned to this office upon departing our area at the end of your visit.

A 50% deposit of the base rental funds (before cleaning fee and tax is added) plus a $25 non-refundable booking fee is required at the time of booking. All bookings must be secured with a Visa/MasterCard. All remaining funds are due at the time of check in. Reservations can be made by contacting Brigadoon Vacation Rentals by email or phone.
