Beautiful location in the Northwoods! 2 Bedrooms (plus a pullout sofa on the screened in porch) 1 Bathroom. Pine paneled with an open floor plan. Two large picture windows look over the lake, which is steps away. Our lakeside cottage overlooks a quiet Lake, part of the Pike Chain of Lakes. Bring your floats and inner tubes, swim in the lake. Bring your fishing gear and catch a big one, or just relax on the pier. Plenty of nearby trails, fire lanes, and roads--great for biking and hiking! About Rosie Varisco

My parents first purchased this cabin on the lake. My husband and I had a total renovation done 5 years ago. I grew up in Chicago, but spent many summers here.

Rosie Varisco purchased this cabin in 1955

Why Rosie Varisco chose Iron River

We are hoping to share the beauty of the cabin and the lake with people who enjoy their natural surroundings.

What makes this cabin unique

The open floor plan and beautiful views of the lake.

Private, Quiet, Cozy, Clean - Rent with Confidence for a Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Happy to agree with all other reviews - this is a nice place! Clean, updated with a very comfortable classy up north cabin feel and well stocked (even nice/heavy glassware for some wine and a cold beer after a tough day of vacationing!). Not a large cabin, but plenty of room to spread out and relax, especially when taking advantage of the 3 season sun room with full windows/screens and lake views. Are multiple steps down to lake/pier and have to be cautious but not a safety concern. Quiet & private (is one neighbor but no one there our week and enough spacing wouldn't have been a concern if they were). Small lake but plenty of good fishing (bass, northern, bluegills) and being no-wake you get the full great lakefront feel without the noise. We brought kayaks onto the lake and with short portage over road enjoyed miles of the entire Pike Lake chain - including deer coming down to play, eagles soaring, loons looning - all amazing! Iron River area is a great getaway - woods, lakes, etc., yet all conveniences available in town - including supper clubs. I mean, c'mon, what more could you ask for? Enjoyed the Brule River paddling & rapids trip, rainy day in Duluth, big top show in Bayfield, nicely maintained Northern Pines golf course. Hope the cabin's available next time we get the chance to enjoy the area!

Awesome home. Very Clean. Is stocked with everything you may need.

View of the lake. Very quiet and private location. This home made our vacation perfect.

We stayed for 2 weeks. We look forward to next summer!

A beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

This property is fully stocked (bedding, dishes, pots and pans, utensils, paper towels, toilet paper, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, grill, charcoal, etc., etc., etc.) which makes it really easy to stay there and not have to rush out and obtain forgotten items.

The living room and dining room (plus the sun porch and one bedroom) overlook the lake below and have beautiful views. The knotty pine walls and wood flooring are beautiful and in great shape. It was also very clean. Our family was able to move in and feel very much at home and comfortable while in the north woods.

There were also numerous brochures about local attractions (plus games and books to read) and we were able to go on an Apostle Island boat trip, drive to Duluth, canoe on the Brule, fish off the pier (and caught fish), and attend a Pow Wow at Red Cliffs.

A great place!

We had an amazing time. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to take advantage of everything because my daughter was getting married so we were busy working instead of relaxing. Hope we didn't leave the cabin too messy. We were running late. We definitely would love to stay again in the future though. We were all pleasantly surprised at how well equipped the place was for a vacation. It has everything. We left a few square pans there to add to the collection. Anyway it was a wonderful place to spend our week. Thanks so much!

Clean, well-kept cabin

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I, along with our two children (ages 12 and 15) loved our stay at Rosie's cabin. The cabin is clean, well-kept and comfortable.

We'd definitely stay again if we vacation up north again.

The cabin is up high so you have to walk down steps to get to the dock. No big deal. Dock is modern and easy to use.

We caught some fish in the lake, mostly panfish, bass or northern. So plenty of action to keep one occupied if they're interested in fishing. We brought a canoe with us which I'd recommend if you do intend to fish etc.

We did several short day trips, too. Apostle Islands, Duluth etc., Delta Diner....

All in all a great visit.
