Guestbook comments from the owner

We were one of the first to stay at this property under new ownership. My husband and kids wanted a close weekend getaway and decided on Lake Gaston. The house is very warm and inviting and in a great location. Kids can jump off the dock and you don't need to worry about fast boats coming by. The house is in a secluded spot so you have really nice privacy. The kitchen had everything we needed (including really nice dishes and glassware) and the screened porch was really nice. We sat and looked out on the lake and it was very peaceful. The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean! We took a nice walk in the neighborhood and walked down to the lake on the other side. It has a very neighborhood feel and very safe for kids to play. Our kids loved the zipline in the yard too! All in all, a great house and a great time. We will be back!

Great lake house rental!

  • 5 of 5

Finally got on here to write a great review of this house. We stayed over Thanksgiving 2016 and were very pleased to get together a long distance family. We had 7 adults and 5 kids (ages 8-3) and all had our own nice space to relax in no matter what time of day. We did book the extra room over the garage, well worth it. Beds were comfy. We brought our own linens and food and that's all we needed. Lots of fun for the kids. There is an air hockey game, ping pong table, zip line, lots of yard space for them just to run around free to play. There were also games in the house. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit and roasting some marshmallows. We appreciated the full kitchen and large dining room table to really cook up a Thanksgiving meal too! The screened in porch was wonderful to sit out and relax and keep an eye on the kids. Some even brought their own kayak and went out on the lake to enjoy this peaceful area. We were able to pay a deposit and bring our fur-babies. I would definitely recommend this rental. The owners were great with communication about everything.

Ahhhhh lake life!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful refuge from crazy city life. We arrived late on a Saturday evening having battled the highway of he** ( aka I 95) . A 4 hour journey (which turned into 7 hours) came to an end at a picture perfect cottage perched on the edge of a peaceful lake. *ahhhhhhhhh *

The cottage is perfect for any family wishing to spend a week reconnecting with each other. We rented a pontoon boat for the week. The dock at the cottage was set up for easily docking your boat without impeding your ability to use the dock for swimming and fishing. There is also a set of steps (3 or 4 steps) that lead into the water gradually so you can wade in as opposed to jumping off the end of the pier. The area is very calm. Anyone can swim there ( even small children) the water at the end of the pier was approx 5 feet deep. There are plenty of outside chairs to choose from. There is a picnic table on the pier that seats 4. There is a fire pit in the yard for cooking marshmallows!

The kitchen was well equipt for pretty much anything you need to cook! I brought along my own crockpot and large electric griddle.... But, they actually had these items in the pantry! A long table in the dining area and a counter in the kitchen with bar stools easily accommodated our family.

The master suite on the main floor was very comfortable with a king bed, soaking tub and separate shower. The 3 bedrooms upstairs are comfortable with plenty of bed options. We had 4 adults up there and only used 2 of the rooms. The bathroom upstairs is spacious with a tub/ shower combo.

AND there is an air hockey table in the hall!

The garage had a ping pong table ( more fun!) and a refridgerator/freezer.

The house has a wonderful (huge) screened porch with lots of chairs and a picnic table. This proved to be a favorite gathering spot for coffee in the morning before heading out on the boat for the day.

The owners CLEARLY care about the guests experience here. They are very responsive and quick to address your needs. Unlike other properties I have rented, the cleaning supplies and vacuum cleaner are available for your use. They had a basket on the counter when we arrived, welcoming us with wine and coffee , among other things! I honestly felt like I was staying in a friend's home. Nothing about this home "feels " like a rental property. It feels like home.

Great Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

Well made and beautifully located home. Quiet and peaceful. Spent Thanksgiving with 8 adults and 5 small (6 and below) children. The kitchen and dining room handled our feast easily. We loved the screen porch and ate a picnic lunch on it. We enjoyed the campfire ring. Played whiffle ball, catch, football, ping pong, and soccer with the kids. Did some tramping in the woods with the grandchildren and went for walks on the road with no traffic. Highly recommend renting the two rooms over the garage for those who want a little more quiet from the kids. The owner was very helpful and answered any questions we had for him. Based on his thorough briefing and notes we only had to leave the property one time in 4 days for some kid stuff. Memorable.

Beautiful Home, Peaceful Spot

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a long weekend at this lovely home. We had adults and children ages 9-teenager. We had a fabulous stay and everything ran smoothly from the moment we made the reservation. if you are looking for a peaceful location and lovely home with room for extended family, I recommend this home.

The owner was very helpful with information about the home and the area which helped me plan our trip more easily. He was also responsive to all emails and inquiries in a timely manner. He even checked in on us via text after our arrival to make sure all was satisfactory with the house.

When we arrived, we were welcomed with a "housewarming" basket with a few essentials we could use for the weekend. The pictures accompanying the listing on VRBO were enticing enough, but they are nothing compared to what the home is like in person. The dock is perfect for relaxing, fishing, and swimming. We rented a boat from a nearby marina and docked it at the house which was a nice touch for the weekend. But, even without that, the kids would have enjoyed just swimming and rafting in the quiet cove off the dock. My favorite amenity of the home is the very large screened in porch with ceiling fans and ample seating for a large group. The décor of the home is fitting for "lake life" and is all around warm, welcoming, and inviting. The home interior was clean and the yard well kept.

The family room is spacious and the kitchen is well stocked with nice appliances (coffee maker, keurig, electric can opener, toaster) and all the dishes and silverware a group of 12 could need. I've rented many homes through VRBO and this was one of the best stocked kitchens I've come across. The Wi-Fi works well and can handle many devices. Cell phones don't work great here, but there is a landline and it was nice to be "out of touch" for a bit. We also rented the newly renovated apartment space over the garage which gave us two extra bedrooms and a bathroom. This area is also spacious with a comfortable bed and couch and an additional double bed in a small bedroom attached.

Overall, this was a wonderful lake vacation spot. It is rural and quiet and perfect for family time and stress relief. Definitely a place to relax and enjoy the water and water related activities. We would love to come back to this home in the future!

Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

I actually found this property when it was on the market and let it slip through my hands. Renting it just solidified that I made a terrible mistake in letting it get away. This property is ideal. Located in a small quiet cove just off the Main lake and minutes from the Marina, very easy to get to. So relaxing. Has a zero entry at the shore, making it easy to jump in our kayaks. The water depth at the end of the dock also made it easy for docking the boat and jumping off the pier. House is well appointed. Very clean when we arrived and had everything we needed. We are seasoned renters at LKG and this was one of our favorite houses. We have to admit, the screened porch was our favorite hang out in the morning and evening....just taking in the view with morning coffee and evening dessert. Owner is very easy to work with and communicates quickly. They are building an awesome addition to add some space; although, we didn't need it.However, it will come in handy when we invite friends to join us :)!! Definite thumbs up from all of us!! Will be back!

TOP NOTCH!

  • 5 of 5

The Restaurant style waffle maker, a Keurig plus a regular coffee pot, an impressive BOSE radio for our IPOD, relaxing mornings eating our oatmeal on the screened in porch while listening to the birds, watching my son use the zipline or jump off the boathouse dock and swim, and all located on a quiet cove off the main lake. We are in the beginning of our stay but are so impressed with this place we felt the need to write our review already!

The owners are relatively new to owning the house, but are accommodating and amazing to work with! Furniture is very nice and there is lots of room, bathrooms and bedrooms are lovely. Two brand new bikes were available for us to use, a place to have a campfire, a nice grill to cook our grilled shrimp and steak dinners, and a top notch kitchen with top of the line "everything" at your disposal.

We have already stumbled into two boat front restaurants we are eager to try (The Pointe and The Waterfront), both just minutes by boat from this house. The Pointe has nice live entertainment, too, that you can appreciate from the water by just throwing your anchor out.

Property was very clean upon our arrival and honestly, the pictures don't do the place justice. It is EVEN more beautiful in person :). Even the decorations are so well placed and make it really feel like home. My husband and son both said they would live here!

Considerations: if you are a "doer" this may not be ideal for you. You are not near tennis, golf, a fitness center, etc. The nearest stores are 20-40 minutes away depending on what you are looking for. The owner advised we should bring FOOD, and we did. But they also have it nicely supplied with basic spices, plastic wrap, aluminum foil etc (we brought all of our own since we weren't sure). We found a Super Walmart in Virginia so we could also get a few things for our boat, but you need to plan appropriately, so (as the owner advised) you don't have to run out of limes for your mojitos!

If you want lake luxury without a ridiculous price tag, peace and quiet, and true "relaxation" to "get away from it all," this may be a perfect fit for you. There are little personal touches the owner takes time to provide too numerous to mention.

Whether you bring your boat to tube/ski or throw anchor for the day, come to read a book lounging on the provided dock furniture, or just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of your regular life, we think you could love this place. We know we do!
