La Mirage is located about five miles south of the town of Port Aransas, so it is away from the main, more-crowded beach areas. It's right on the beach--just a few minutes walk from our door to the sand! There's never a big crowd on the beach, and a short walk to the north along the shore and you'll mostly have the beach to yourself. La Mirage has two swimming pools, with the larger pool (one of the biggest at area condos) heated during the Winter. See the photos for the courtyard and pool areas.

Our Condo: Master bedroom with king size Tempurpedic and private bathroom. Has sliding glass doors to the balcony,. 2nd bedroom has a double size and a twin bed, also both Tempurpedic, and an attached bathroom.

One our condo's best features is the large and private balcony. It overlooks an expanse of duneland and has a wide view of the Gulf of Mexico. We want to let you know that some work has begun to prepare that area for development,. The land has been undeveloped for a long while, as in the pictures, but now some site preparation has happened. There still are no buildings or people, and work has appeared to stop for now. But there may begin again, so possibly there may be some daytime work going on. Otherwise, no one can see you as you enjoy the views. During sunset, the dunes glow, and moonrise over the Gulf is one of our favorite sights from the balcony!

The large living/dining area has glass doors to the balcony, a large flat-screen TV, and a round dining table that seats six. New furniture in 2015. A new sofa and loveseat, new coffee table and two new end tables. Living/dining room also has one twin bed (Tempurpedic) which can also serve as a sofa/daybed. Please note--there is not at this time a sofa-sleeper.

The master bedroom has a small tv; the 2nd bedroom does not have a tv.

The wireless network upgrade is completed and working great by all reports.

Kitchen is fully equipped with range/oven, fridge, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, microwave, electric can opener, and a wide variety of cookware, utensils, and dishes. There is a laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer. Usual kitchen supplies, such as dish soap, paper towels, sponges, etc., are provided.

Quickest and best contact is via email, as we check that many times throughout the day 9am - 11pm. Send your questions or inquiries and you'll get a prompt response--max two hours, and quite often within minutes. We are very attentive to email inquiries and questions.

Be sure to look at the notes on the rates page for special deals for longer stays!

We look forward to hearing from you!

About John Silberberg and Missey Morgan

We are Austinites, and for years have loved going to the beach in Port Aransas. We were thrilled when we finally bought our condo at La Mirage, and go there as often as we can. We have come to view it as our second home, and strive to make it as comfortable and as inviting as we can. We hope you enjoy it too! Missey and John

Why John Silberberg and Missey Morgan chose Gulf Coast

We knew we wanted to be in Port Aransas, and after looking around, we felt that La Mirage was a great choice. The beach is very close to the complex, just a few minutes from our front door to the sand. There's a beautiful courtyard filled with palms and flowering shrubs, with two swimming pools, one quite large and heated in cooler months. There are three spas in the courtyard too, which makes winter visits even better!

Our condo is on the north side of the building, which means you see spectacular sunrises every morning, and sometimes a beautiful moonrise as well. There is morning sun on the balcony, but by mid-day it is in the shade, which helps keep the unit cool and gives you a break from the intense Texas sun. The late afternoon sun makes the dune expanse practically glow! We love to sit on the balcony, sometimes for hours, and just admire the view.

What makes this condo unique

Imagine how an incredibly comfortable bed can help you get the most out of your vacation. Whether it's just relaxing for some well-deserved down time, or recharging for another active day at the beach, a Tempurpedic mattress can't be beat. Our guests tell us they love the beds and sleep great during their stay, and for some it's the reason they return to stay in our condo each time they visit Port Aransas.

Loved the condo! The owners were very hospitable and responded quickly. We also loved the big patio and being able to walk to the beach.

Great Place to Stay with Comforts of Home

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice roomy condo with a fantastic view in an older complex. We had 5 adults and we all slept great on the Temperpedic beds. The condo has been nicely updated. It is stocked with most everything your would need. The Mirage has a nice pool, hot tub and sauna. The beach is close and not too crowded as it is a ways from the public access. We would stay here again. I gave 4 stars just due the age of the complex and the elevators are not the best. Keep your food sealed up or place in fridge to keep the insects away.

For groceries we would recommend the IGA in Port A. Ask at the restaurants if they charge a fixed gratuity as we had to pay 18% (post tax) at Beach & Station Grill and a fee to get cash from an ATM we felt like trapped tourists at that place. You may have a better choice food options in Corpus which is a 10 min further drive.

Good unit could use some love, but great balcony and amazing beds

  • 4 of 5

In general, we were pleased with our stay at this rental for the price point and the location we knew it would be a bit older of a rental. The photos and description are accurate.

The property: La Mirage is an older property and it has the feel of an older location that has been kept up. There was staff on site working on the property daily. Pools were clean. The walkway to the beach was maintained, I will say the beach at La Mirage was not our favorite for spending long periods but we enjoyed evening or morning walks on it. The rental is located on the second floor, there are luggage carts and shopping carts to help transport items.

The rental: It was well appointed with everything we needed. I will state it could use some TLC. Some of the drawers in the bedrooms wouldn't open. There are some noticeable wall stains in the kitchen that a little paint would help freshen up. There were small little black bugs (unsure of what type) in the kitchen that acted like sugar ants. But during our stay pest control rounded (without our prompting) and the bugs disappeared the remainder of our stay. The Washer/dryer worked great, internet worked well. The linens were fresh and the unit was clean enough otherwise. The balcony faces towards the sand dunes more than the gulf, but you catch a partial view of it. The balcony is HUGE and we used it more than that any other of the living areas (which were smaller than I expected.) The mattresses were amazing-- I think we are actually going to purchase the same mattress to replace our home mattresses but it was so comfortable and we slept wonderfully!

Owners: very prompt in responding. Even during our stay, we wouldn't find an item (the trash can). John responded within minutes to an email and even dropped by extra trash bags just in case.

Overall, the unit met our needs and we enjoyed staying close the gulf without paying too much. It could use a little extra TLC to spuce it up.

Port Aransas is a great vacation destination, with many attractions and activities. Our part of the beach is very scenic, with dunes close to the shore. Even in the most crowded season, with a short walk you have the beach largely to yourself.

The palm-tree filled courtyard has two large pools, one heated in winter, and three spas, as well as picnic and bbq facilities.

Nearby attractions include deep sea and bay fishing, golf, dolphin tours, bicyle and beach buggy rentals, birding, kayaking, Texas Aquarium, and the USS Lexington, as well as numerous restaurants featuring local seafood and a wide variety of cuisines.

The best attraction, though, is the closest--the beautiful beach, perfect for running, long walks, or just relaxing to the endless sound of the surf.
