Tuckaway Cottage is a quaint and quiet cottage settled among pine and maple trees where one spots deer and turkeys sharing paths in the beautiful outskirts of Ephraim. This one-of-a-kind eclectic cottage has many handmade features to welcome you; most notable are a machine-pieced-and-quilted star quilt by the owner and a unique 3-D village of yesteryear which surrounds the living room/bedroom. The artistic interpretation of an old-fashioned village was handcrafted by a young man from St. Paul, assisted by the owner's family members. As night falls, settle under the mini lights of this unique village.
The accommodations include a comfortable air-conditioned living room/bedroom combination, a fully equipped kitchen/dining area, and a full bath. An adjacent side deck with table and chairs awaits your plans for dining outdoors. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, silverware, utensils, pots and pans, an apartment-size refrigerator, coffeemaker, electric stove, and microwave. The cottage is furnished with a queen bed, pillows, blankets, bed linens, and even an alarm clock. A fold-out cot is available for a young child upon request. A color TV with satellite and DVD player awaits your enjoyment. Bring along your favorite DVD or check out the few available at the cottage.
The cottage is located on the north side of Ephraim at the corner of Hwy 42 and South Coral Hill Road. This quiet location is within walking and biking distance from the restaurants, shops and waterfront in Ephraim (however, children are advised to be accompanied on busy Hwy 42 by an adult). The cottage is also just minutes from Sister Bay.
You must visit this unbelievable cottage, perfect for honeymooners and couples preferring a quiet setting for the 3 Rs: relaxing, reading, reconnecting. Perhaps you will allow time to experience the state parks, especially nearby Peninsula State Park and Golf Course, the nature trails, bike and boat rentals, the notable outdoor movie theater just south of Ephraim, and Door County outdoor fish boils, especially the one in Ephraim at the Old Post Office restaurant. There are excellent theater presentations, a plethora of concerts, and an array of gift, art and antique shops throughout the county.
A grill is available to make a juicy steak or burger, giving you a choice between dining in or eating out, but don't miss Wilson's Ice Cream Shop in Ephraim for that tasty treat while cooling off on a hot summer day.
A double-sized hammock calls you come outside under the big tree for a relaxing time in the backyard.
Please note that check in is after 4:00 p.m. and check out is by 10:00 a.m. Contact owner Fran Richter if you need special consideration on these posted times.
