We have lovingly restored and added on to a unique cabin on Little Pelican lake located 2 miles from Breezy Point resort. The cabin is available on a weekly basis ONLY during high season (July and August). Check-in 4 PM Saturday, checkout 11 AM following Saturday.
In winter months the cabin is available for 3 night minimum stays and has access to the major snowmobile trails via Little Pelican lake.
The cabin has 3 spacious bedrooms which all have amazing views of the water. The first has a king bed with walk in closet and en suite bathroom, the second a queen and the third twin bunk beds and a queen sized futon couch. The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with quality cookware and has new, stainless steel appliances. There is an island with bar seating and the dining table can comfortably accommodate 8 people. Cozy up in the evenings in our large living room which has a gas fireplace, large screen tv with cable. The 2 bathrooms are the only rooms that don't face the water.
The cabin is 27 feet from the lake which offers great bass and northern fishing, water skiing, jet skiing or just tooling around on a pontoon. The property has a deck with a grill and patio furniture. The swimming beach has a hard, sandy bottom and is shallow a long ways out. Perfect for little ones! There is also a private dock which you can use to park a boat. A fire pit is located on the beach as well.
This is a great place to come when you want to get away from it all. We are located on a private road so you won't hear any traffic noise. There are numerous golf courses in the area as well as unique shopping and antiquing in nearby Nisswa and Pequot Lakes where you can also access the Paul Bunyan trail.
I grew up coming to this lake. We bought this property to stay in while visiting family and are excited to share it with others when we are not in MN.
Karen purchased this cabin in 2011
The property used to be part of Pine Rocks Resort and my family has been coming here for 60 years.
Little Pelican is a quiet lake that is great for a family vacation, reunion, romantic getaway, or just to get away from it all. The water is shallow so relatively safe for small children. The lake hosts 2 loon families, bald eagles, beavers, herons, and even a golden eagle!
Great place, they obviously have "finished" the place for themselves, because if they'd just finished it for renters they might've gone cheap, but the place stands out for quality. Mosquitos are bad really only on the back side of the house, not the lake side. None on the dock to speak of. Only one or two other boats were on the lake the whole time we week, it felt so private, the lake is lovely perfect entry for kids (ours were 15 months and 3 yrs 9 month). Karen has made it a lovely spot.
This was our first summer family vacation with our three daughters and it was perfect! From the minute we walked into the cabin we fell in love with it. The layout was perfect with the girls on one end of the cabin and our room on the other end. It is updated and very well maintained. We really enjoyed the sandy lake bottom and shallow water for our younger daughters (ages 4 1/2 and 3). It made swimming for them much easier and less worry for us. All of our daughters could swim on their own and we could relax on the deck or dock. We brought our boat and the lake was perfect for boating, tubing and water skiing.
This location was great where it took us 10 minutes to get to Pequot Lakes and 10 minutes to Nisswa. We took in the Turtle Races in Nisswa and we recommend getting there well before 2:00 PM so you don't have to wait to race your turtle. The weather was perfect for us to spend as much time in the lake as possible.
There were only a few things we would recommend. We wished the grass would have been mowed so the mosquitos might not have been as bad so we could have had a fire every night. We would recommend taking down some of the trees by the lake so you can see the swimming area from the deck. We also took time while swimming moving a bunch of large rocks in the swimming area in the lake so no one would step on them and hurt their feet.
Overall we were very impressed and loved the cabin and our vacation! The owners were great to work with and answered all of our questions prior to and after our week staying there. We will definitely be back!
This cabin met the needs of our large family surprisingly well. It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable throughout. The waterfront/dock were wonderful for fishing and swimming. The canoe got a lot of use during our stay. Grocery stores and restaurants were an easy 10-15 min drive from the cabin. We are already planning a return trip.
We just returned from our relaxing week up north. What a beautiful cabin! The pictures don't do it justice. We enjoyed swimming in the lake, the canoe and row boat, the loons, fishing, nightly fires (with s'mores!), the turtle races in Nisswa, and Crazy Days shopping in Nisswa (where we found many bargains!). The cabin felt like home with everything we could ever need. The breeze from the lake kept us cool despite high temperatures. The owners were very easy to work with responding quickly to e-mails. Wonderful way to re-charge before heading into a new school year. Thank you!
We just left the cabin after a great week there. We're a family with 5 children (ages 1-17), altogether 7 people, and we had enough space for everybody. All of us, from my wife and myself to the youngest children had everything we needed for a perfect vacation. The cabin and beach are well equipped with everything you'll ever need, and everything is clean and in very good shape.
We loved spending the days by the lake, swimming, canoeing, or just sitting by the lake relaxing. We got all the help we needed (even before we even knew we needed it) from Jerry, the owner's father living next door, who was extremely kind and helpful. He helped with everything from cabin related questions, to lighting the campfire, and gave us great recommendations on what to do in the area.
We're extremely busy all year with work and many other things, and really look forward to relax in the summer. This stay was one of our best ever!
My family had an awesome time at this Little Pelican Lake cabin. The home is spacious, SPOTLESS, and tastefully remodeled and decorated. There were 9 of us... 6 adults and 3 children under 5. It was equipped with everything we needed for a fun and very comfortable stay. The towels and linens were fresh and the beds very comfortable. The property's closeness to the lake is awesome and you get a great lake view from every room. We enjoyed time on the large deck and the grassy yard. We had nightly campfires. The lake and surrounding neighbors were quiet which was nice when our babies were napping. We enjoyed, fishing, tubing, swimming, canoeing on the lake. A loon family swam daily by our dock and we enjoyed their "call" and seeing the baby ride on the mother's back. There were some very nice unexpected features such as the faucet by the deck stairs to rinse sandy feet, and the fun toys my grandchildren discovered in the closet. The owners were great to work with from the very moment I inquired about this property to responding to our need when we had an issue. Even though the shoreline was not sandy, our small children easily stepped into the lake and enjoyed the sandy bottom of the lake itself. It is a great area to vacation. We enjoyed going into Nisswa for the Turtle races, shops, playground. My sons and their wives went to Breezy Point one evening and also checked out Gall Dam Brewing, Inc. in Nisswa for some craft beer. My son and his wife ran on the Paul Bunyan Trail a couple of mornings. The weather cooperated as every day was full of sunshine and the Minnesota mosquitos left us alone. I would recommend this cabin to anyone that seeks a fun comfortable North Woods vacation.
