About Louise Ward

Massanutten Village was my home for about 10 years. I had visited the ski resort & homeowners here, & then rented a house before buying this house. I already knew that I liked the convenience & quiet of the area, & the fact that it has a lot of trees & the houses do not look alike. I moved to Lexington VA (about 1 hour away) to start a cafe, but I come back every week to visit family in the area & to check on the house. I have left antiques, art, live plants and personal touches in the house to retain a warm & homey atmosphere for my guests. I do all changeovers myself so that I can ensure that the house is clean & welcoming for each guest's stay.

Why Louise Ward chose Shenandoah Valley

Massanutten village is a quiet residential neighborhood within the resort at the base of the mountain. As a skier I had visited the resort, & then rented in the village for a couple of years. I was delighted to find an unusual house for sale here, & have been glad that I bought in this location. It is conveniently located at the bottom of the mountain, and it is so quiet & relaxing that it is hard to believe the resort's many amenities are only 5 minutes away.

What makes this house unique

This house appealed to me from the beginning. It is open-concept, & has a lot of natural light because of skylights & high windows. Plants thrive inside, & the house has the look & feel of both a beach house & a mountain get-away. I have decorated it to enhance that feeling. The back yard is wooded, with no houses behind, & I often see deer.

We loved it!

We honestly can't say enough good things about this house. Every morning there were deer out back for the kids to see. We were less than 5 minutes from the indoor waterpark and the pool was even closer. Don't let the cheap rates fool you. This property was everything we wanted and more. The large deck off the back was perfect for my wife and I to unwind after a long day at the park. And if you like to see beautiful views, the Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive is only minutes away. We actually saw a bear and a cub while hiking! It was a little scary, but cool at the same time. If you need only 2 bedrooms and are looking to stay in the Massanutten Resort for any of the great activities they have there, than look no further! This is your place.

Property is old and, at best, is in mediocre condition. For a rental property in 2016 it is astounding that the property does not have cable and wifi internet. The lack of those features should be highlighted. I would recommend that until this property is updated and rehabbed it should not be offered for rental by your site.

Great place to stay!!!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time and the house was beautiful and very comfortable. It was nice to have most things included. Seeing deer out in the back yard gave it a special touch. We enjoyed the convenience of the resort activities. I would defiantly return and recommend staying there. Louise was very prompt in getting back to me with answers to a few questions. A big thank you for the opportunity to stay in such nice place at an affordable cost.

Just what we needed!

  • 4 of 5

The house was a bit outdated, however for the price, what would one expect! We knew that it didn't have wi-fi or cable and we didn't mind that. Other than to sleep and shower, we really weren't at the house all that much. We let our 14 year old son have the room with the water bed. It was the first time he had ever seen or been on one! Lol! So he was happy! We enjoyed coffee on the back deck every morning and we saw deer everyday. The location was very convenient to everything the resort had to offer. Louise was awesome and from booking to leaving we had zero issues.

So much better than a hotel suite !!

  • 4 of 5

This was our first time staying at a Home Away property. We appreciated how close it is to the resort and Shenandoah National Park.

The style of the furnishings has an eclectic vibe. The sound system was wonderful (Old school). There is a wide variety of CD's to

select from, or bring your own. There is a very large deck on the rear leading out to a wooded sanctuary. I brought some safe candles to

create some much needed aromatherapy. There really is only room for a maximum of five as stated in the description of the place.

We would definitely stay here again.
