About Louise Ward
Massanutten Village was my home for about 10 years. I had visited the ski resort & homeowners here, & then rented a house before buying this house. I already knew that I liked the convenience & quiet of the area, & the fact that it has a lot of trees & the houses do not look alike. I moved to Lexington VA (about 1 hour away) to start a cafe, but I come back every week to visit family in the area & to check on the house. I have left antiques, art, live plants and personal touches in the house to retain a warm & homey atmosphere for my guests. I do all changeovers myself so that I can ensure that the house is clean & welcoming for each guest's stay.
Why Louise Ward chose McGaheysville
Massanutten village is a quiet residential neighborhood within the resort at the base of the mountain. As a skier I had visited the resort, & then rented in the village for a couple of years. I was delighted to find an unusual house for sale here, & have been glad that I bought in this location. It is conveniently located at the bottom of the mountain, and it is so quiet & relaxing that it is hard to believe the resort's many amenities are only 5 minutes away.
What makes this House unique
This house appealed to me from the beginning. It is open-concept, & has a lot of natural light because of skylights & high windows. Plants thrive inside, & the house has the look & feel of both a beach house & a mountain get-away. I have decorated it to enhance that feeling. The back yard is wooded, with no houses behind, & I often see deer.
Great location, at Massanutten, very close to JMU. Kitchen was difficult to cook in, trouble with stove and hood, but owner is addressing these issues. Wished I had packed my own pans and coffee pot. Dated decor and could have been cleaner. I was asked by owner to wash and dry her towels prior to leaving, so we just used our own. Not much of an issue as we spent most of our time outside enjoying the Shenandoah.
It was alright
There were some issues that the owner addressed right away so made our stay better
We enjoyed spending time at house. My daughter enjoyed dvd's and books. Lovely house.
House is clean and we enjoyed family time and my little one enjoyed waterbed. Thank you to owner Louise. Thank you.
We had a wonderful time. This is a beachy getaway in the mountains complete with jimmy buffet and steel drum music CDs to listen to. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you!
Dated home but lovely vacation spot.
We had a wonderful time and the owner is so sweet. The home is a little dated but well worth the cost. Location is great. Will definitely book a stay here again.
Perfect home in Massanutten
We stayed here December 28-31, 2017 and this was a perfect home for 4 people with convenient access to all Massanutten activities. The home is comfortable and the layout is very convenient. The brand new heat and air system kept the home toasty warm, even during the bitter cold 14 degree overnight coldsnap. We loved the view of the woods out the back windows, the girls loved the upstairs bedroom, and the kitchen, dining area and living area are so very functional. The owner is very responsive and kind. We would definitely stay here again!
Massanutten Resort is a 4-season resort about 15 minutes from Harrisonburg & Interstate 81. The house is located at the bottom of the mountain in a quiet residential neighborhood. It is within 5 minutes of the ski/snowboard area & tubing park, the indoor waterpark, 2 golf courses & a driving range, miniature golf, a go-cart track, a zipline adventure, canopy tours & wall climbing, a bungee dome & cornhole games, horseback riding, river rafting, gem mining for younger children, pools & playgrounds, & several restaurants. There is live music at Skyline Cafe & Art just outside the resort & in the ski lodge during ski season. The house is approximately 15 minutes from Shenandoah National Park, where you can drive or cycle along the Skyline Drive, or hike on the Appalachian Trail or several scenic waterfall trails. Harrisonburg & Elkton are also about 15 minutes away, for those looking for shopping, antiquing, cinemas, more restaurants & live entertainment, art galleries, museums, & a farmers' market.
